  • Another limerick that my Chemistry teacher told me,

"If you think your life's too placid

Add the water to the Acid"

    :D

  • that beaker just took a massive shit!

  • now... LIGHT THE CARBON PETE!

  • If that murderer had just added some coke after dissolving the body, the teeth would have dissolved nicely too.

  • Looks like underwater volcanic erection oops, I mean eruption.

  • nothing more attractive than a intelligent female chemist :P

  • I'm surprised at the lack of dick comments. I guess the periodicvideos fanbase is more mature than the average youtuber.

  • Vitriolic!

  • My teacher called this demonstration "Bride's first biscuit"

  • chemicals are weird, I find it fascinating. The simplest thing can change something so radically. Is it the sulfur directly? Likely, yeah. Or it the fact that there are three more oxygen's in there too? I mean. one more electron turn solid gold to liquid mercury. So elements are quite finicky. Just because something's bad for you doesn't mean you can't eat it. Like salt. makes you wonder sometimes for all the elements besides sulfur, if there's a compound that makes it turn digestible. :)

  • Carbon poop

  • @05017351 Oh yes, I meant the Pharaoh's Serpent wasn't exactly suitable for the classroom. I see how my previous comment was rather ambiguous!

  • i really want those dog toys

  • I've never seen this reaction before; it kinda reminds me of the Pharaoh's Serpent reaction, though that one is obviously a lot more dramatic ... On the other hand it's not exactly suitable for the high school classroom!

  • @DannyNHansen I've performed this demonstration many times at school in front of classes. As long as you are an experienced chemist and the reaction is properly risk assessed there nothing unsuitable about it. Once the carbon is cooled the remaining acid can be washed out and the carbon is safe to handle.

  • Close the front sield of the fume hood!

  • science is awesome ....

  • they must love this guy at the dog toy store...

  • 7:18 .. thats what she said

  • I once got some concentrated ~96% H2SO4 on my skin. I spilled a drop in my fume hood and accidentally rested my arm where it landed.

The drop touched my skin on the gap between my glove and labcoat causing an instant hot burning sensation.

I washed with cold water immediately for half an hour. It caused burn blisters on the area and after 2 days the affected skin flaked off, looking like an abrasion.

Now 2 months later it is still clearly visible on the skin looking sort of like a birthmark.

  • I asked my daughter if she wants to be like Debbie when she grows up. She said yes, not because she is a scientist but because she has a dimple.

  • is it me or is this old man hypnotizing me to watch more videos?

  • What happens when you try to eat that black stuff?

  • @TheMartijn45 It's just carbon

  • @thien369852 No, it's not just carbon. It has lots of still pretty strong sulphuric acid embedded in its pores, as well as products of incomplete carbonization of sugar. It is a sour, poisonous mass that would burn your mouth quite horribly.

  • Do like you otter - add acid to water !!!

  • How do you clean that

  • @ilikepienotu

Patience, brushes, soap, solvents, acids and some swearing for good measure:)

  • thank you professors for giving me this knowledge thanks for this kind act :) love you

  • 3:48 mad scientist

  • i was going to make a naughty joke

  • Johnny was a chemist's son,

    But Johnny is no more.

    What Johnny thought was H20

    was H2SO4.

  • @ArsonistInUrFirewall actually, once I thought it was H2O instead of H2SO4(~98%), so I poured it into decanter where was NaOH.

  • @ArsonistInUrFirewall

Here is the original version of the limerick :

    Poor Billy boy is dead.

We'll see his face no more.

For what he thought was H2O,

    was H2SO4.

  • This stuff is the reason why I got out of Chemistry at university.

  • @jbeer82 I was boiling the Acid (30 ml) , then it for some reason it tipped, lucky i had two pairs of Bombay bloomers they didn't touch my skin around my legs.

  • made some hot poop with sugar!

  • at the beginning she wuz kaughing cuz it kind of looked loke poop.

  • When Nitric acid video will be posted?

  • Dip a matchstick in sulfuric acid and see what happens :D

  • Is that.. Is that seriously his hair?! I mean, is he doing that on purpose?! Are you kidding me!? Wha...

  • Steamy hard carbon turd LOL

  • Einstein's cover

  • I can confirm that sulfuric acid does indeed dissolve bodies.

  • @AttemptingToBeBusy I can confirm it too, since i was the victim.

  • OH SHIT! HOLY SHIT!

  • these videos are too short...=[

  • lol..."VITRIOLIC!" :D

  • Science can't explain his hair lol

  • See the dislike bar?

    Yeah, neither do I =]

  • The food in the hotel was so bad the murderer ate people ;)

    I love english humour :)

  • The food in the hotel was so bad the murderer ate people ;)

    I love english humour :)

  • A little question: S has covalence 2, how can it bond to two -OH groups and two -O groups, and what are the two -O groups bonded to if at all?

I'm in fifth grade of "gymnasium" now. If you could make me understand this I'd be really glad.

  • @Quintinohthree s has covalence II, IV and VI

  • You should tell what concentration you are using, 6mol/L, 30mol/L? I highly recommend people to visit nurdrage channel, it's awesome, chemistry Ftw!!!

  • very superb explaination as im chemistry student its more usefull for me thanx

  • from 7:02 , reminds me of my visit to the toilet every morning

  • I'm sorry, but that carbon column looks like feces...

  • I love your videos

  • ok go for fluoroantimonic acid now =D

  • 7:10 Don't be around for too long after i've had my morning coffee.

  • 7:17 big black........ column of carbon

  • Please make a video on Nitric Acid! :)

  • Can you masturbate yourself with said column?

  • Someone has to say, it looks like a huge penis.

  • I now feel the urge of doing this reaction myself just to poke that huge carbon thing...

    God, that looks good (:

  • Christians hate science.........................

  • This guy must make a lot of acid in his spare time

  • looks like giant ass turd lol

  • Do you Waffles?

  • I have a question. If we electrolyse a sulfuric acid solution, which would be the products? Can I concentrate sulfuric acid using electrolysis?

  • I had no idea Chemists in real life have hair like that. lol. I though it was a tv thing.

  • oh transcribe audio how i love you.

  • It looks like poop.

  • this guy reminds me of David Attenborough :D

  • @StarSpawn06

the David Attenborough of lab science :)

  • Vitriolic!

  • Johnny is a chemist's son,

    But Johnny is no more.

    What Johnny thought was H2O,

    was H2SO4.

  • @ 6:30 she's laughing because it reminds here of a big dick she fucked! :-)

  • @DSOXBLADE Grow Up.....

  • @Jack14112 After you get a seance of lame ass humor!

  • @Jack14112 After you bitch.

  • @DSOXBLADE Wow, 3 months to come up with that....

  • @Jack14112 No. I just finely went through all my messages. I thought I said it before, but I guess not. Your still a bitch. :-)

  • It likes her! =P

  • 6:50 Oh, you chemists!

  • Don't do what you shouldn't oughta

Add your acid to the woughta.

  • So just add water and you got sugar again!? I could save millions. I will exhale into a bottle and add water. Than consume the sugar!

  • @eatpumkin090 P->Q, Q therefore P is false, tsk-tsk looks like someone is dumb

  • @mtksbctk Don't judge my intellect based off my knowledge in chemistry. It's presumptuous and ignorant of yourself. The comment I previously left was a joke btw. Thought that was obvious.

  • @eatpumkin090 we exhale carbon dioxide, not carbon

  • @razveck Still carbon with o2 left over. Last time I ever joke around on a science video. People take this way too seriously.

  • @eatpumkin090 :( :( :( :( :(

  • @eatpumkin090 Ah, I knew u were joking from reading ur other comments. Just saying...

  • 3 dislikes? It's fucking science. Who hates science?

  • @CorporalDogmeat stupid people? D:

  • @divine0g0d Yeah that's possible.

  • @CorporalDogmeat gordon freeman

  • @CorporalDogmeat a 60 year old blinded by ignorence american catholic man

  • @CorporalDogmeat christians

  • @CorporalDogmeat Michelle Bachmann, and Conservatives

  • @CorporalDogmeat Computer is science.

  • @CorporalDogmeat religious people.

  • @CorporalDogmeat christians

  • @CorporalDogmeat The Church

  • It looks like a giant poop.

  • @twinfred2 Totally, you go do that.

  • that looks like snake lol

  • Why does all their molecule models look like dog toys^^?

  • @BBallwinner Because they are dog toys.

  • "it's quite hard actually" :)

Probably my favourite chem experiment ever, really fascinating to watch.

  • Sulfuric acid is very tasty. Gives a good sting to a nice steak.

  • Did that carbon forming look borderline obscene?

  • How is it that all scientists are Crazy looking!?

  • is that hair for real ?

  • @InMetal2 Yes it is. I think he has a video somewhere where he was questioned about it.

  • @InMetal2 its awesome hair btw

  • 0:08 that crap must have hurted...

  • we have saying VUK (wolf), it's short from "Voda U Kiselinu" (water in acid) for easy remembering not to put water in acid cause wolf should represent something negative

  • @saff3356 I've always used AAA, for "Always Add Acid".

  • we did this in science! sooo sick

  • It looks like a snake!

  • Snake :D

  • It's a snake! xD

  • this guy is a hero.

i have a concentrated sulfuric acid burn on my right arm, i pippetted some on me by accident, went through my labcoat and onto my bare arm, its a horrible scar now, doesn't look like it'll leave.

  • Two chemists walk into a bar. One says "I'll have H2O." The other says "I'll have H2O, too." and dies.

  • @calumisdead

thats not sulfuric acid, thats hydrogen peroxide...

  • @tHaH4x0r Yeah, but It is a chemistry related joke which this video has a bunch of, so I thought I'd post it. Still funny, no?

  • @calumisdead

    ofcourse :)

  • Haha, my chemistry teacher used to tell us that story about the murderer on Halloween :D

  • The carbon reminds me of baking cakes from the oven!

  • It looks like a jobbie xD

  • I craped myslef when @ 0:15. He scared the F###K out of me

  • 0:07, thats how a boner is made!

  • HOLY SHIT ITS EINSTEIN !

  • hehehe - I've seen the carbon cylinder experiment done in a big 2 litre beaker, with large amounts of sugar and acid - t'was quite brilliant :D

  • They couldn't stop laughing...I know when I did this one I couldn't either!

But seriously, that carbon can be put to good uses.

  • in denmark we call that experiment elephant dick dont know why but we do :)

  • the carbon looks like a giant erection

  • Your forming hydrogen Bombs! 1:09

  • @luigi90900 irony? :))

  • EINSTEIN!!!

  • Turn on transcribe audio at :40

  • @ChowMein09 why?

  • Science, the ultimate drug!!!

  • @Shawn21769 everyone can get high on it and the only one to be legal on :)

  • Professor, you're just like my teachers @ school, stereotype chemist! (maybe somewhat crazy because of the chemicals. I'm looking forward to the moment i become a bit chemcrazy =P)

  • Nice hair dude

  • poking the black column with a stick...Debbie... You know Debbie, once you go black you never go back..

  • "A Column of Carbon" say? Hell That's wat i'll Call them from now on Buahaha !

  • 7:17 That's what she said.

  • Erst das Wasser, dann die Säure sonst geschieht das Ungeheure xD

  • Looks like a penis.

  • they used this experiment as one of the special effects in the movie "Species"

  • MAD SCIENTIST!

  • WHO LEFT THIS TURD IN THIS BEAKER!?

  • she got excited when it stood up

  • i like these videos-

  • Looks like his barber passed away.

  • There is currently a capsized ship with 2400 tons of that stuff in a river near here. o.O

  • LOL the professor is so cute LOL

  • i think we all know why she was giggling at the dehydrating sugar =P

  • @jamie13591

    LOL

  • "It's quite hard actually." yeah well, erevt things usually are x)

  • @domcoltman That's the so-called "clbuttic mistake", which happens when obscenity filters go wrong and create phrases like "President Abraham Lincoln was buttbuttinated by an armed buttailant after a life devoted to the reform of the US consbreastution."

  • How does so much carbon fit in that much sugar?

  • @cosmiceon Its probably not "that much". If you look at the carbon you'll see it has "craters", probably caused by the boiling effect and making the carbon have big "bubbles" of gas inside.

Think of it as bread or a sponge.

  • I like the chick! I was like "uhh forget the acid point the camera at the girl!♠
