We are taking home the stanley cup this year. We have a lot of good players in stead of one good player and a lot of bad players. The washington capitals are a prime example of that. Don't let them being division leaders fool you. New york rangers were now whose in front.

After that, we'll have to hope that Marian Gaborik, Hossa, and Martin Havlat are resigned within the year. I've heard rumors that Gaborik wants an offer that would be break the bank for Minnesota. He's a major offensive threat already, plus he's younger that Hossa...could you imagine what the Flyers would have to deal with playing against Crosby flanked by Gaborik and Dupuis? He's making 7.5MM, but he'll prolly to ask for 9-10MM depending on performance. Hossa and Havlat=resigned probably.

If it comes down to getting rid of Gagne, then we should go after a talented left wing(Daniel Sedin and Alex Tanguay are UFAs and Eric Staal is a RFA, but i doubt Carolina will let go of him). A man can dream though. Then, we get a top notch defenseman(Bouwmeester or Mattias Ohlund from the Canucks). Then our we could pair the acquired D-man with Kimmo and our forward lines would look like this:

This season, Gagne needs to return to his true form and get around 35 goals, maybe 40. If he can return as an elite sniper and is healthy for most of the season(70 games) keep him. If not, we gotta trade for a healthier, equally or more talented player, and go from there.

You see, the Penguins have about 41MM reserved for their players for the 2009-10 season, with Fedotenko, Satan, and Sykora being free agents. By then, the salary Cap could be at 60MM, so they would have 20MM to work with, so they'd be able to replace those 3 with younger, better talent. That's why this year is important for Philly to see if they can win it all. Now, the Flyers have a powerful weapon on their side:GM Paul Holmgren. Homer is the best and most aggressive GM and will deliver.

I believe that the Flyers are really close to winning the Cup. I think they just need one more defenseman(puck-mover who has a booming shot from the point: aka Gonchar) and maybe a star winger. I'd like to see them get Jay Bouwmeester cause he wont be staying with Florida unless they become a playoff contender overnight. Also, i'd like to see them get a winger who can elevate Briere's game(someone like Eric Staal, Daniel Sedin,etc..). That will come next summer when the free agent pool is rich.

As for the 2008-09 season, I believe the Flyers have the best shot at getting to the Cup finals, because Pittsburgh lost alot of its venom with the departures of Malone, Hossa, Laraque, and Ruutu, and I don't think the Rangers will be that much better. I think they're gonna have chemistry issues. This is an important season for Philly, cuz the Penguins will be looking for a star winger(like Hossa) to flank Crosby next summer in FA. They'll have the money to do it cause Satan/Ruslan will be UFAs.
