hey love your guitar, i was thinking about getting a esp ltd viper 200.... should i just keep saving and get a viper 400 ? .... im abit stuck if you could help id be most grateful
@TheSpaceManDan Hang tight for a week or so...I've got a beautiful Viper 200FM I picked up recently that I'll be reviewing as soon as I have given it a fresh set of strings, a clean up, and a set-up (standard procedure for me). That way I'll be able to really give you my thoughts and you can actually hear it by jumping back and forth between the 2 videos (I always try to keep everything else like the amp/settings/cable...etc. the same). And for what it's worth, I do ship to the UK...
nice, that would be an awesome video, i've always liked sg's, that's why i bought a viper, to have the sg style but not be another one in a billion with the same guitar.
@didyamaker Thanks! I love these guitars...I'm always looking for good LTD's (most are really good...at least the set-neck ones...but sometimes even they mess up...I saw an Explorer shaped one recently where they misplaced the bridge to one side so the strings didn't line up right). I'm about to do a shoot-out video between a Gibson SG Faded series and a Viper -301...I like the sound of both, but the Viper feels way better (for less money) and we'll see how the compare right next to each other.
@mahajanparth My friend made them...used to sell them...,maybe he will again...I did a video for them...look for Jim Goodman Straps video (I forget the title but if you search that you should find it). Thanks for watching!
@Buserandi Sorry...I was only kidding around with the title...trying to see what would get some (more) views...I don't take this too seriously...I do these videos to show that the guitars I am selling work like they should (and they do keep me playing some) and I don't care much about material things...just my faith, my kids and my family and friends. Thanks for watching though!
@greengtrs Hey I have one of these in Sunburst and it's one of my best Metal Guitars, the only problem as others have mentioned is the strap button location as the headstock dives when strapped on,I carefully Drilled a small pilot hole on the center of the upper horn with a small drill so you can get the angle right and gradually went larger on the drill bit, problem solved as the Guitar hangs perfect now, anyone out there tried converting these to 18 volts I've heard you get way better Clean Tones
@scorchin64 That is the age old trick for SG's and these Viper's...move the strap button to the horn and then it balances out just great. Look into the Joe Barden pickups...passive and extremely high output that sound great clean or dirty...no batteries needed...they go for a little over $150 each for a humbucker...
yo dude Im thinking of getting this guitar, I already have a gibson sg but does suit my metal stuff. I've heard that this guitar is top heavy when standing and the neck tends to dip down due to the strap button location on the back of the horn. I was just wondering if this is a real issue or not. Lemme know your opinion...thanks in advance
One thing I noticed about vipers is that they fail at hammer ons and pull offs lol, every viper I've played has, I have a Viper-10 myself, I love it but there's just some things it can't do.
Great demo, I own one bought it on craigslist for 275 w/ a hard case. The nut sucks i had a bone not made for it . The standards are almost the same but twice the price. awsome playing ....
@deondamon LOL!! I bought out a custom strap maker of all he had left (to help him out and wound up selling them all and getting mine for free and even making a few bucks on top of it). They are Jim Goodman Patented Leather Straps...I love them and did a video here while I was selling them (to show how they work)...very cool velcro adjustable for if you use a few different guitars and need different lengths. And in the backround on the other side are a bunch of my old straps...so yes...lots!
@punkfunc I sold ESP's and ESP/LTD's for like 15 years but haven't for the past 5 years except when I come across a good used one...so I'm out of the loop...sorry...go to their site...
@TheWho0180 There aren't any noticeable differences to be honest, they have the same hardware and woods, there might just be a few things like a SLIGHT bevel here and there - it's not worth getting one of the updates like the 401, get a 400 cos they'll be cheaper now than they were.
@malmsteen80 The only thing similar to the SG on this guitar is the shape. It's got great EMGs in it and mahogany body and neck. It's lighter. Basically it's better than an SG, and as you can see from the video you can get similar sounds to an original SG (although I'm not sure why you'd want to).
I'm trying to show the range of the guitars that I'm selling and not just play what is typical for it...listen to the whole thing..I build it up and jam at the end. Do I need to put down one guitar and pick up say a Fender Strat for any of the slow/mellow stuff in a typical set list? I can't please everyone (I've been practically yelled at for playing a Gibson ES-175 distorted). I play whatever I feel like playing...none of this stuff is really planned...if you like it, fine...if not, oh well...
@greengtrs I think you wright. Also, we all already listen on ESP (or LTD, no matter) some heavy things (such as metal, heavy rock, core and etc.). And these guitars are very well in these styles. But what about море soft styles, such as blues, jazz and etc? Demo of this styles playing on this guitars is not enough. On these video we can see, what these guitars can be good in the melodic blues-style music. And this is very good. Thank you, greengtrs, for yours demo.
Hi and thanks for watching! It's just some basic strumming on simple chords (Am, C, G, & F) that could have it's influence from 100 different songs over 40 years worth of (a very wide range of) music...Simon & Garfunkel to James Taylor...the Scorpions to Lynyrd Skynyrd...Rory Gallagher to Mark Knopfler...even Judas Priest and UFO did some really "pretty" acoustic based stuff. If you find something it's really close to let me know...
I just make it up as I go or fall back on stuff I've played over the years...aren't there some programs that will turn music into tab...it would take me forever to try to write it out...
If you have an extra 30.00 sometime i would recommend getting a PA2 gain boost switch and install it, i did that and man it gave it a good bit more power. they are really easy to install, took me about 15 minutes to install my PA2 switch. Kerry King from Slayer uses the EMG 81/85 with PA2 gain boost switch. The switch gives it up to 20db more of gain.
I used to like them...until I had a live concert recording to do (serious high dollar 48 track mobile unit) and out of the 3 sets I had, every pack had rust or corrosion on the high E string...I had to settle for the one with the least...as I like a totally fresh set for any kind of important gig or recording and left it for the last minute. I trust D'addario because they have always been consistently great strings...and with their inner sealed packet, you don't ever have to worry about rust...
