@SariaSchala exactly. I fed my kitten Cali the reccommended amoutn of food her whole life, hat a regulated diet set by her vet and she turned out chubby. The vet said it was her natural body type.

My cats wait for me when I come home, they somehow know the time when I arrive (either that or they recognize my footsteps at the door).

Ben is still his usual indoor / outdoor self, and now we have a permanent indoor cat "Thor" who likes to wrestle with him (though he often gets carried away & Ben gets mad at him and wants to go out again).

Bob has gone through 10 total kidney surgeries, though his overall health is off and on. He's managing, though.

You're assuming that this cat was an INdoor pet and was cast out when the owners left the house. Far from it. This cat came to us as a stray (this is all mentioned in the sidebar, by the way) and while he prefers occasional company,he has little tolerance for being cooped up indoors for more than 10 hours. We tried that, and the result was that he splintered the wood on all the doors trying to get out,and eventually broke the screen on our window & escaped that way. There you go. His preference.
