Stallone is pathethic.Every good scene was a true scene from Ali's, Frazier's , Marciano's or Tyson's or even Chuvalo's life. Even the first fight was called figth of the century, where a philadelphia slugger who is the underdog (Frazier) fights the flamboyant talking champion. Creed is basically 100% Ali. Errrr, wasn't Joe Frazier the real" Rocky" and not Wepner? I mean...think about it this fight only INSPIRED the movie "Rocky" just saying Wepner couldn't even go the distance with Ali once and Frazier did it nearly three times also Wepner never did run up the steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum when Frazier did it nearly everyday of his life as a fighter.

The thing is, Sly created Rocky. It was originally based on Rocky Marciano. But the fight was Inspired by Wepner vs Ali. Rocky was a 2time heavyweight champ, Chuck wasnt. Rocky did lots of things that Chuck didnt. So Sly is the real Rocky. Rocky Marciano is the real rocky.

why didn't you include the famously surprising knockdown Wepner scored? I've never seen that though I've heard about it being part of the legend. Ali was great but it's always interesting to see the moments in sports that remind us that things aren't a guarantee, and anything can happen.

Ali ducked a really great punch from Wepner here. It was amazing to see him move away from it at that split moment, because it would've been a direct and devasting blow to Ali's face if it had landed.

I was pointing out that Wepner had some seriously untapped potential that really never came to fruition. I think he crapped out on himself by being a sleazier fighter (and even a sleazier person if you know his background). Its the one characteristic that Wepner doesn't have in common with Rocky: Integrity.

Wepner has really never been a "hero".
