Nights when I could not sleep I would dance upon his shore in the moonlight to a chorus of rumbling coral upon Grand Fonds beach. Maybe it was his spirit that called me out to dance.
I would have loved to have seen him dance in person. I'm a 70s baby, so by the time I could have taken myself to c him. He was no longer dancing and sick and his untimely death in the early 90s. Wow, but @ least we have his wonderful ballet videos.
I remember when he arrived in London and came late to a friend's house very late at night and we made him bacon sandwiches, this friend made all Margot 's costumes and later made for Rudolf, so we always were at dress performance, a great way to see the greatest dancer.
Thank you Natelli 1976. Your tribute to Nureyev is a delight and beautiful homage - also, achingly sad. He truly was gone too soon. You've captured his awesome talent, humaness (the best smile, ever) and his unyielding courage. Again, Thank You.
