  • My grandmother had on of these. My Uncle has it now.

  • @Baraticus205 Nice when they are handed down from a family member!

  • Cool gun! whats the name of this song?

  • @weedsmokerweed Thanks! Not sure the name of the song was a free sample I got on line awhile ago!

  • you wont get anything outta me coppa! i'm not rat see! your not gonna pick on me see!

  • I love ragtime

  • @Wabaanimkii Seemed to go with the age of the revolver! =)

  • beautiful .38! love the revolvers

  • @Silentgasp Thanks!

  • Ola tenho uma arma igual a esta só que o cal e 32. muito bom parabens.......

  • Cool gun I have a U.S. Revolver break open one in 38S&W I got to work on it rust all over it.

  • @henrycems Those are pretty cool Alfred! =)

  • thanks for the video. i recently acquired two of thse guns. did you reload the ammo or buy it?

  • @Gamble2185 Bouth it at the show you can still get out there!

  • @Gamble2185 That was bought it... lol =)

  • hahahahahah u said quicky

  • can you take a .38 special case and shorten the hell out of it until its the proper length and load it accordingly and make .38 S&W?

  • @Choncho203 I don't think I would even attempt that besides the .38spl is a little larger diameter if I'm not mistaken!

  • Is .38 S&W a common round nowadays?

  • @zanuha No it is not although it is still available through various sources.

  • hows the accuracy/ planning to do a video on that?

  • @mark3smle Who would know I shot one cylinder just as a funtion test and have not fired the gun since! =)

So couldn't really tell ya on that! Sounds like a good review coming up!

  • nice, nice, nice! congrat.

  • @Avatar1154 Thanks...was just looking at this one today and thinking I need to do that gun review!

  • @rugersix it would be great!

  • 150!?! Not bad man.

  • @Reynard13Fuchs Yeah not at all!

  • Nice! I have my grandfather's .32. It's nickel plated with gutta-percha grips and she's a real beauty!

  • @fordtruxdad Funny you should comment on this one...I'm handling it right now! LOL =)

It's great that yours comes from a family member...those are always the best!

  • I have one of those was giving to me in a will by a family member who i had only seen once.. havent shot mine yet to see if it works lol

  • @viewfrommydashboard Now that awesome coming from a family member! Bet it works just fine! =)

    Thanks for commenting!

  • Where's the real "Lemon Squeezer"?

  • You should carry it. lol

  • @Lillredneck I could!!!

  • It is all original finish as far as I can tell. The finish looks identical to the finish on my 586-2 which I am the original owner. The guys over on the S&W forum told me to take car wax to it and keep it polished to maintain the finish. I have it oiled heavily right now until I can get time to wax it :-)

On the 38's, I suppose the best way to get ammo is to buy a box then do reloads after that? I have one 38 S&W wheel gun; my others are 32's.

  • I bet that gun was used to "whack the boss"!

  • @cattbutt357 With a gun that old I'm sure it has some history maybe even some pistol whip stories! LOL

  • Found me a 32 S&W 3rd Model Safety Hammerless a couple weeks ago. Got it for $380 out the door. Pics @ we0h.us/guns/SW-32-3rd-Model/

  • @WE0H Looks nice! Is that the original finish...or was it re-blued?

  • I have one just like this! Mine is nickel-plated though with black plastic grips, judging by the serial number, mine was made in 1903. I have shot almost a 50 round box in it after having the firing pin replaced. I have now cleaned it and placed it away. The nickel-plating is starting to wear off. Any ideas on who may be able to re-nickel plate this gun?

  • @johns1987blazer Sounds awesome! A good gun smith or even contacting S&W they do that kind of work, but I can tell you the value of the gun will go down if you do anything to it on refinishing!

  • You lucky dog for stealing that baby.

    Mike

    WE0H

  • @WE0H No Mike I stole it already! =) Thanks for watching!

  • Comment removed

  • That beautiful !!

  • @Mr1967shelbymustang Thanks! I think so too! =)

  • you stole that one for the price

  • @LRooster4Prez I think so! =]

  • Very cool piece of history! I just purchased an old Colt Poice Positive mfd in 1910 and can't wait to shoot it. The "cool down" period is just torture.

  • very nice

  • @x3r9g6 Thank You!

  • Can it fire 38 special?

  • @TheSouthernGentleman Absolutely NOT! Only .38S&W in this piece of history! =)

  • @rugersix Is 38 S&W hard to find or expense?

  • @TheSouthernGentleman It's not the most popular but I was able to get...actually picked up a box at the gun show and yes you pay a bit more for it, but this is not a gun I'll ever shoot a lot.

  • @rugersix Thanks, I was just wandering because they look like neat little revolvers.

  • @TheSouthernGentleman The 38 special would not even fit in the cylinder, The 38 S&W round is much shorter. Like a 44 special compared to a 44 magnum. Same diameter but different length. less powder and less power. The 38 S&W travels about 600 fps and the 38 Special about 850 fps

  • Great video. I love the topbreaks. I dont mind shooting my .22 topbreaks, but I have a .32 that I havnt worked up the courage to try yet.

  • @scb0421 THANKS!!!! SHOOOOT IT!!!!!! =)

  • Why don't they sell break action revolvers anymore? and what's better a swing out or a break action? anyone know a break action with a hammer? that's .357?

  • @gapanlilio33 There is a company out there that makes a replica Scofield in a top-break in 45 long colt. The top-breaks are not as strong as the swing-out do to the break-of the frame in two pieces verses the solid frame revolver. Thanks!

  • Hey My tattoo friend just got one in on trade for $350 dollars still in case and in great shape. Is it worth the money. Your video said yours was a lot less but I do not want to over pay for it. please p.m. me if you thinkg I should go for it. his is a 1899

  • Break top revolvers have got to be my favorite guns ever. It was surprisingly difficult to find a video of someone loading/shooting one, so I appreciate this video.

  • Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed it!

  • boy do i want one of those guns...it looks alot like the .32 s&w hammerless

  • It is exactly the same thing except this one chambered in .38S&W cartridge! =)

  • yea your right my friend now that i think of it a good friend of mine was selling the same revolver just that it was solid black for $120.00 i sure regret not buying it =[

  • Hey ruger6....I just bought one in 38 but mines a 2" snubbie, I was wondering Where you found info on serial numbers and production dates ????

I am trying to determine if mine was made for black powder or smokeless,,,any help is appreceiated !!!! by the way...you got a heck of a deal on yours!

  • You got a 2" snubby!!!!!

    You lucky dog you!!!! =)

I have a S&W book that has a rough reference guide on serial numbers! For I think $35 you can go to the S&W website fill out a form and they will provide you with the history of your gun! =) If you want to send me a pm with the serial number I can see what I can find out for you???

  • Hey Rugersix, I just picked up one of these little revolvers at a gun show this past weekend. The difference is that it is .32 caliber, 3-inch barrel and has a blued finish. I have to clean it up, but it seems to function properly when dry firing it.

Got it for $160. Thanks for getting me interested in these little pistols!

  • AWESOME!!! A gun show purchase for you as well!!!! Cool!!! When I bought this one he also had a 32 model which actually had nicer grips but I wanted the 38!

Thanks and enjoy that new acquisition!!! =]

  • WOW!!!what a great find,I love old revolvers!!!

  • This was one of my better gunshow purchases! =]

  • I heard that!!!$150!?!thats the dealof a lifetimeman, congrats!!

  • Thank you and good night it's past my bedtime!!!! zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz =P

  • @JohnWayneColt45 $150? I see one for $90 at my shop I'm pickin up once I get the money. I like older guns becausethey have so much hist

  • Congrats!!

  • lol i just found one of thies in my great granpas police stuff and it fired like a charm!!

  • That is totally is a much better story than a gun show purchase!!!!! I love it!!!!! =]

  • Another great vid tiger 5/5

  • lol thanks!!! =']

  • A friend of mine just boyght one with a hammer. ben looking up on them on the net . One of the frist some were black power 38 shorts about 2 gran of bulleye power.38 sp had 3 gran. fun gun to shoot .

  • Pretty interesting thanks for sharing...yes I agree fun to shoot! =]

  • $150 ! You are just too lucky, haven't seen any at that price hear in years.

  • The one time I actually got a good deal!!!!

  • Nice to see someone else thinks Nutnfancy is a nut too.Lovely classic revolver, backstrap safety,is what think they mean by the lemon squeezer safey.

  • Yeah this was indeed a fun purchase! =]

Yes...you are correct regarding the safety!

    Thanks for watching!

  • gun store by my house has a s&w model 5 for sale for 200 bucks i dont know much about it but its in working order from what they say is that an okay price it looks in the same condition as urs

  • If you like and thin it's in good condition offer them less for it they can only say No!

  • hi man, what ammo you used? I mean, was it a special cowboy loading charge. or what? thanks

  • No...I got it at a the gunshow it was mag-tech I believe.

  • thanks

  • Do you have a second channel called Nutnfancy?

  • Is that an insult???

  • Personally I think you to are both great gun reviewers and were all on the same side so, no it wasn't an insult I was just wondering.

  • Nice find, Ive been looking for one of those types top break pistol for awhile, id be cautious when shooting one of those lol. DAMN you got that for 150? that's a steal man.

  • Thanks!

Well it's not like I'll be burning 100rounds through it when I take it out! LOL =]

  • that trigger pull looks awfully jerky...is that the gun?

  • No it's probably the shooter! =]

  • Why don't they make a modern break open action revolver? I know they make the schofields. I wonder if someone has the patent to them or there not very feasible these days.

  • Smith & Wesson should bring it back as one of their classic series! =]

  • Thanks I was pleased to get this!

I'm sure your your most like right on the .38 Short Colt round.

It's not much power if you are comparing it to the .25acp! Interesting!

  • Nice!

    Was an ffl required?

  • No...I'm a member and have had all the background checks etc. so it was hand him the cash while he handed me the pistol! =] Thanks!

  • sweet! I hate living in the peoples republic of Kalifornia

  • Ouch...I feel your pain!

Glad my folks moved us out of there back in 1973!

  • Cool gun. Well worth $150.00.

  • I thought so as well!

Must be why I ended up taking it home with me! LOL =]

  • I love those top break open revolvers, and yours is a beauty. What's your opinion on the cartridge?

  • Not really sure as it was the first time to ever shoot it. Back in it's day it was the standard! I think it's cool! =] I wanna do a thorough review on this gun later along with some more shooting tests. Thanks!

  • Nice!

  • Planning on a full gun-review later!

    THANKS!!! =]

  • Yeah!

    you totally should.

That lemon-squeezer device is called a safety bar

  • Hi my friend!

Harry, you will spread a photo of this revolver in the photobucket?

  • You Got It!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =]

  • ОК!

  • Harry, how much cartridges? And whether easily such to buy?

  • Vlad-

The .38S&W cartridge is still available but not real common...I purchased a box of 50 at the gun show for about $30.00 U.S. dollars! Needless to say I want be shooting a lot of rounds through this gun! =]

  • Yes, it is rather expensive, and at us the same...

  • I love old 38's

  • ME TOO!!!!! =]

  • cool ......

  • ...thanks!

  • That gun looks frickin' sweet!!!! I have a few modern guns but that revolver has a lot more character. S&W.....$150- enough said........

  • It has character like you said and is rich in history...which makes it a pleasure to have in my collection! Thanks!!!!! =]

  • one of my friends mother has the model with the six inch barrel of this gun. Her grandmother use to keep under her pillow when she slept!

  • I can tell you right now that the ones with the longer barrels fetch a much higher price!!!! They a much more rare!

  • Nice gun! I'm very envious. I like top break revolvers, and that would be a good one. Where did you get the ammo for it?

  • Thanks!!!!!!!!!!! =]

I purchased the ammo at the gun show as well it was not cheap $29 for a box of 50 cartridges! That's part of the reason I only shot one cylinder full.

  • 150dollars! R6, you thief! That's a damn good price for what looks to be a very good revolver. I especially like that safety that is a great little add on. I do have two questions, what was the recoil like on that, and which gun show did you get it from?

  • It was certainly a fair market price for this gun! Recoil is very limited...hardly felt. Washington Arms Collectors (WAC) Gun Show in Puyallup, WA.

  • briliant gun for self defence!Old but still in nice condition cool video 5*!

  • These were the concealed pocket pistols of there day! The Bicycle version (worth alot these days) with the 2" barrel was the snub nosed version. THANKS for watching and rating!

  • Nice looking gun, Harry. We don't get many of that type down here.

  • I'm very pleased Ted with this piece of history!!!!! It functioned and shot great! Accuracy test later when I do a gun review!

    Good Day!

  • Nice! The lemon squeezer is truly a American Classic. How would you rate the overall condition of it?

  • YES it is!!!!! Well how would I rate it? Lets see...it is all original as I found the same serial number in 4-locations! The grips have lots of wear as the checking is totally smooth in most places. No parts need to be replaced. the grooves are still evident in the barrel...although there may be minor pitting on one side? the bluing has turned into that petine (sp?) brownish tint. Shoots and functions fine I would say 65%-70%

  • hey man congrats! i know you wanted a good top brake for a while!

  • Thanks! You're right I did! I was very disapointed with that Enfield revolver I got last time!

  • you're a brave man harry - i would of had that gun checked out first lol =)

  • That is a very nice gun,Rugersix. What did that set you back,if you don't mind me asking ?

  • he said 150

  • ok,thanks. That's a pretty good price for a gun like that.

  • can't wait for the "project".

  • beautiful gun

  • Thank You MrCQB!

  • great gun and vid!

  • Thanks to my Ductch friend!!!! =]

  • Remarkably! An excellent old revolver from belle époque! And excellent video! ;)

  • Thanks Vlad!!!!

So when are you coming over to shoot it??????? =D

  • I with pleasure, but now affairs much. However trip plans are available!!! =)

  • i really like it i just like the ones that the cylinder pops out of the side not how that one does but it seems like it functions great keep shootin ruger

  • Yes! Wheel Guns where the cylinder pops out for easy loading and unloading!!!! =]

    It's a solid little pistol!

  • gotta love the guns of the old west

    they had personality...

looks like a fine old gun.....

  • It is a fine old gun!

Really pleased with this purchase! =]

  • damn, thats one beautiful gun..

  • Yes!

It's in very good condition for it's age!

    Thank You!

  • Great deal!!!

  • I think so as well!

    Thanks!

  • Are you going to re-blue the old girl...or leave her as is? I have said before, I really love those old guns. Beautiful smith ya got there harry.

  • Re-Blue???? Absolutely Not!!!! She's worth a whole lot more just as she is!

Re-Bluing is the fastest way to decrease the value of a gun like this!

I like her just as she is! =]

    Thanks for watching!

  • Good purchase. Is it hard finding ammo? All I usually see around here is .38 special. And that was before last november!! cant find nothing now.

  • I think a company has been advertising making .38 S&W ammo but I cant remember who.

  • Thanks! The ammo is not common but you can still find it either on line or at places like gun shows! =]

  • Hey Harry, What is the bore like?

  • Well with the naked eye she is pretty clean! I took a magnifying glass and could see a some spots on the left side looking toward the muzzle, maybe a little pitting or rust??? Not sure but.. Hey! The guns over 100! Nothing major just gonna keep it cleaned and oiled!

    Thanks for asking good question!

  • Great buy! Just shoot it and clean it. Don't ever change it. It's beautiful just the way it is.

  • That's the plan!!!

  • nice, you should blue it.

  • Absolutely not!!!! =]

To re-blue it would greatly decrease the value of this fine piece of history!

I know whay you mean though it would look nice with a bright blue mirror finish!

  • i did not know that thanks,do you know of the easiest way to blue a s&w 10-5.i like how you respond to all your comments youtube needs more people like you.

  • There are different ways to do it. Coldd bluing etc. but there is definately an art to it. A poor re-blue job can be worse than just leaving it as is. I'm no expert on the subject...If it were me I would probably have a gunsmith do it. Thanks!

  • Excellent revolver, Harry!!! Once again I congratulate on excellent purchase! :) Excellent old firearm! It really perfectly looks and has an excellent condition finish. Shooting has given a lot of smoke :))) By the way, you have already accustomed with its device?

  • Hey Vlad!!!!!

I thought you might enjoy this one!!!!!

The finish has turned to a (petite) not sure on the spelling of the word. Basically a brown like tone from many years of kicking around! Yes...I've already taken it a part to learn more a bout ti had a reference book that greatly assisted! =]

  • Perfectly! =) I think there there should be enough simple mechanism.

Well and how results of shooting? How it on accuracy? What is a condition barrel and grooves?

  • Well it shoots fine! I was only shooting it down range for function test purposes. Accuracy testing will have to come later!

Barrel still has nice grooves in it! =]

  • Hey R6! Great vid! Great Find! I had one of these in 32 S&W short. They are fun as all get out to shoot! Mine was factory nickel with black hard rubber grips. It was just so much fun to shoot .....zero recoil. the bullet was moving so slowly my shooting buddy invented the shooting races. He would fire a 9mm at the 50 yd berm and I would fire my 32S&W and you could count to 4 between the impact of his bullet and the impact of my little 32. Bullet races....loads of fun! Great buy R6!

  • Awesome that's great! The guy I bought this one from has another one in the .32S&W short! The grips on that one were a lot nicer..,you could still see the checkering. These are worn pretty good no doubt from being carried a lot! Great shoot out story thanks for sharing! =]

  • What a great little pistola! I may have to find one of those.

  • Yes it is! They are out there...I'll bet if you really seached it out you could find a good example.

  • HERE!!! HERE!!!111 Fun Shows and their legal loophole, we MUST ban those deadly ASSAULT REVOLVERS!! do it for the children!!!

RUGERSIX that thing is A BEAUTY!! damn it really is.. a fine, perfectly working piece of american history for $150..SWEET!!! i'm JEALOUS!!!

  • LOL and LOL =D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks I was actually surprised to come across it. It was on the table with an older model chambered in .32S&W and a bunch of old Iver-Johnson Top-Breaks!
