  • Eizingier is just one of best guitarists ever

  • cool

  • NICE!!! didn't know there was a live version of this one!!! =D

  • So raw, So Funky, So Great!

  • itzy the show was at The Abyss on Washington Ave which shut down i believe due to numerous fire code violations one of which being no working AC. they would set up these giant fans on the sides of the stage to try to cool people down but i did get sick there a bunch of times. The last show there was with local bands given fail maybe terminally ill i cant remember but the fire

  • f&ckin awesome.

  • The Incubus of Old Days makes me fly...

  • wow.. one of the first shows i ever went to, 14 years old. i'm somewhere up front on the left. god damn they were excellent.

  • @andrewsouthern83

dude, where exactly was this in houston?!! im from houston btw haha

  • @itzyoboialex it was at the abyss on washington ave. not a great venue but was good enough for a few thousand people to have a good time at. also saw the deftones there in november of 97 with far and will haven. the abyss was shut down i believe for numerous fire code violations such as no operating central AC. i would get sick nearly every time i was at the abyss for a big show (not for incubus though i'm guessing the venue was about 1/3 full.) i was at the final show at the abyss when..

  • @andrewsouthern83 oh wow, washington ave!! now known for all the bars on that street but never heard of the abyss. very interesting, though.

  • ...the fire marshall came in and shut it down during i believe local band Given's set. kinda fuzzy on what other bands played, i know Fail was there, Lower, possibly terminally ill and I-45, but it was a great show for the time. a ton of people showed up for a bill of nothing but local acts. the place was pretty packed. definitely puked that night from the heat. the abyss was a decent place for shows but it certainly had its fair share of negatives.

  • @andrewsouthern83 I'm honestly jealous

  • my favorite incubus song by far.

  • i was blinded by the reflection of light from jose's bald head xD love his playing...

  • lead singer reminds me of anthony keidis from RHCP

  • this is the INCUBUS i like

  • ...i wonder if they could ever collaborate with 311

  • im sure they probably have

  • yep..ive heard of it..they use to open for 311 concerts...but it would be truly epic if they could collaborate even for a single song in an album...

  • everything about this is amazing.

    mike's solo is fantastic!

  • excellent video man, where did you get this?

  • from incubus's fan site

  • set your phazers on funky...

  • bastante aceptable

  • Dude, this song is so much better than ''bastante aceptable''.

  • my fav incubus song for sure. funk off lol

  • does anyone know Dirk's actual reason for leaving the band?

  • A little bit of creative differences, a little more of him wanting to raise a family. They're still neighbors and chill together, as well as the first DJ.

  • The first DJ is actually quite bitter to the band and pretty naive to anything regarding post-SCIENCE Incubus. DJ Kilmore has two separate restraining orders against him. Both for him pretty much threatening violence or death at kilmore, the first of which included DJ Lyfe spitting in Kil's face. Also Dirk and Brandon supposedly fought all the time and the song Leech is widely considered to be a "fuck you" from Brandon to Dirk.

  • @HerodsChildrenGuitar i thought it was a fuck you to DJ Lyfe, not alex?

  • @zausS4L Possibly, I suppose only the Incubus guys know for 100% sure. Judging by Leech being on the album directly after Dirk's departure I would personally lean towards saying it's more likely to be about Alex than Lyfe. It just seems to me that if Brandon wanted to write a song about Lyfe it would have probably been done on Make Yourself or Morning View...but don't hold me to my word, this all nothing more than speculation.

  • @HerodsChildrenGuitar yea sorry i read up on it, just got confused. the speculations are about alex

  • muy bueno

  • I've gotta say that I also prefer Dirk to Ben. I tend to judge bass players more favorably when they play with more of an aggressive tone, similiar to the difference between Paul D'moar(sp?) and Justin Chancellor in Tool. They're both great musicians, but they're also completely different. Apple vs. Orange.

If I had my way, Incubus would start playing funky music again. Listening to Oil and Water after something like Speak Free or Psychopsilocybin or Deep Inside makes me want to cut myself.

  • justin chancellor is number 1 in my book....:)

  • They have progressed so much more as a band though, songs like Sick Sad Little World and Rogues are nothing short of exceptional. Also, Ben is a fine player, if you watch the 'Alive at Red Rocks' dvd, you will see this. He is also a great backing vocalist.

  • lol ben has his own band...

and he used to play in jazz legends the roots...

so he's probably got more funk if u konw wat i mean...

  • @mwellbass

Rogues and Pendulous Threads are sooooooo funky.

I LOVE INCUBUS SO MUCH NO MATTER WHAT IT ISSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • DUDE! A band i used to play in did a cover of this... needless to say it was awful compared to this :-) Quality song.

  • why didn't the camera person record the guitar player during the solo????weak

  • It's like Chili Peppers, but much better :)

  • THEY REALLY SHOULD PLAY THIS SONG LIVE AGAIN..!!!! and Azwethinkweiz...

  • azwethinkweiz would require slap and pop which ben keneey is a good musician plays many instruments, does not have a slap hand hes not able to slap

  • it doesn't matter, I'm sure Ben Kenney would come up with some cool groovy bass line like he always does. But u know, there's not much slapping and popping in Azwethinkweiz, the pops are so simple in azwethinkweiz. Do you even know how to play the bass parts in that song???? Ben would be able to play that. But who cares. Ben would maybe come up with something else that's also awesome...!!!

    AAAAARRGHHH...FUCK THAT....INCUBUS ROCKS....ALWAYS HAD...ALWAYS WILL...!!!!!! peace...

  • i agree incubus does and has rocked always, and i do play the bass i wasnt really suggesting just the azwethinkweiz has slap and pop but older songs do have alot but dirk had a unique style of play he played his strings more aggresively then most and he played right over the pickups which gave a more pop sound even without actually popping but ben is a good musician but he really kinda ruined certain shade of green, without slap its kind of empty and hollow, needs more filler but hes alright

  • i fully agree...they cant even play the live version of redefine...only accoustic...

  • c'mon man....the acoustic version of that song was beeeaauutiifulll......!!!!!!

  • but still cant play the live version..

  • yeah, the Ben kenney version of a Certain Shade of Green wasn't as good as the original...it's a funky music anyway, which really needed slappin n poppin...But anyway, i liked how they changed the solo part with the long DJ solo. ARRRGGHH!!!!....they always come up with something good...can't deny that...hehehe...

yeah...Ben's alright...he's just different from Dirk, u can't really compare them...

  • yeah azwethinkweiz doesn't have a slap bassline, but many other old school songs do, in which case I agree. Kenney can't slap. Dirk is a superior bass player, but Kenney is more of an all around kind of dude. I still prefer older shit.

  • well said man. i agree 100%

  • i applaud this

this is the first actual ben/dirk discussion

not just a bunch of retards shouting at each other!

    yay for intelligent people!!

  • haha it could have went a different direction but i swallowed my pride and just met the person halfway on the discussion lol

  • good old days.. thanks for posting

  • those times will never come back, and I missed it, so, shit, wish i ever went to any of those early shows...

  • sweet dreads and no shirt!!

  • nice vid captured

    INCUBUS NEVER FADES>>>

  • woooooooooooooooooooooooow

    perfect!!!

    amazing!!!

    I wish I was there too :(

  • Awesome!!!

  • Oh yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!

I so wish I was there!!!
