I was just commenting to my wife the other day about what we see on tv commercials anymore. I am 46 and grew up in the 70's. I see more flesh of women in Victoria Secret commercials or Fruit Of The Loom commercials than rated R movies back then.

Parents who love to watch porn during their childhood are now scared that their kids might do the same thing. Thats why you are over protective.

Me is different, I gave my son a laptop, ipod touch etc.. I want him to experience the modern world of technology. I am just watching and guiding him to the stuff that fits to him,. I never remind him of "Don't go on this.. don't do that... etc.. " It will only give him a "key of curiosity" on "why.."? and more tendency for him to find out why.

@OyTaeMo Well maybe they're concerned because they know the dark path it can lead to. Yes the internet is a really formidable tool and there are idealistically no reasons why children should not benefit from it. The problem now with this generation, is that there’ve been a toxic negative atmosphere created so they can be preyed on easier. for exemple..The foul language that teenagers use especially online is NOT normal. I'm no parent yet but I really feel for you parents now days.

why the hell are parents these days so overprotected adults parents let them go out anywhere without calling them every hour on a cell phones. They didn't even have cell phones those days. when i heard move the computer in the living room to monitor them with out being intrusive i was like what the hell that is intrusive.

@bogfbi819 I think that's a good idea actually, I'm not a parent but when I grew up my house wasn't big and so my computer or even multiple computers were in the living room. I didn't really have internet either, back then it was 1998-1999 , 56k time period, AOL, Bluelight, etc. I learned how to use the computer, tinker, hacking, and some programming as well. I didn't feel like I had any intrusion at all.

For the meantime Google should insert warning pages in front of Adult Content sites.
