it may be rare,and i am sure not many promo copies were pressed,but it did actually get released as in proper stock copies.be prepared to pay around $5000 for a stock copy....there is a stock copy for sale on line right now in case you don't believe....gee
One of the hardest 45's in the world to find. If memory serves me right, they only pressed 10-15 copies of it. A real rarity worth megadollars if you ever find it.
What's with the missing parts in the recording? In part one there was one gap but here there is like three. Was the original source recording from the bootleg that way too?
I also am wierd. I find this sick and funny--but again--I have posted before--such a darn shame how the guy ended up. I have never heard Part 2-have known about it for 20 years--thanks for posting it, man.
All righty then! This is my first listen to the full-length recording. Is this still one of (if not THE most) expensive 45's ever pressed? My only hope is that Spector didn't indulge his habit of demanding endless re-takes! Imagine those poor Crystals if he had! Murder would have come into Spector's life far earlier...but with him as the victim!
@M3town3 Phil did this so he didn't have to pay Lester Sill.
As I understand this, Lester was leaving the label, Phil agreed to pay him all the profits from the next record Philles put out, Phil took an outtake and had new vocals recorded including his lawyer saying "Do the Screw" knowing no DJ would ever play it. Since there was no demand, no records were pressed and sold, ergo Lester got screwed out of being paid.
Lester went on the supervise some of The Monkees' records at their peak.
Man, I thought the throwaway instrumentals on the B sides of the hits were weird....makes me wonder, did Phil play this for Lana while he was twirling his piece?
if im not being too weird as well, might i possibly request the same thing (of the video uploader)? and also to... Pussy Tumor... would it be possible to send me part 1 of the song you said you have? since i first read about this song in 10th grade and couldn't find it on the web at all to listen to, this is sort of amazing how i'm hearing parts 1 & 2 now right here on youtube, and i'd love to own the song! :-)
No you're not...I've always wanted to hear it too...even weirder than the first part, and that's saying something...but why do I think Lester Sill is still laughing in his grave? The lengths some people go to...but WTF...amazing post...thank you
They hated it actually...this was right after He's A Rebel and He's Sure The Boy I Love, the two "Crystals" recordings actually sang by Darlene Love...but I wouldn't be too surprised if Bowcat was right...
This is the B-side of Philles label original No. 111. The Crystals' "He's Sure The Boy I Love" is No. 109; "Da Do Ron Ron" is No. 112. And the last I heard, there were no known copies of this, EXCEPT for DJ promotion copies -- and I don't believe that there are many more than a dozen known promotion copies, either. [No. 111 was re-issued as "Today I Met The Boy I'm Gonna Marry" by Darlene Love]. Obviously, in early 1963, a song with the title "Do The Screw" was unlikely to get any airplay.
im 15 and i wonder why this isnt on the radio instead of trash like rihanna and lady gaga

nice . part 2 is just half speed of Pt.1. Phil Spector, what a guy, created the wall of sound, carried a gun and danced the screw!

@dpohunter
Didn't Spector pull a gun on the Ramones back in '78 or so?
Flagg1991 1 year ago
@Flagg1991 I think I heard something about that, wouldn't surprise me at all if it actually happened.
