@dorianleakey -thats a pretty pathetic comment to make. Jews are genetically superior? LoL! with an attitude like that no wonder so many people hate Jews and have tried to wipe them out since the beginning of time! ...now that being said I am not one of them. I dont hate any people but I do hate the attitudes of many!
@dorianleakey natural selection suggests jews are genetically superior.... Are u fucking nuts just because the jewish religion exists today after jews being persecuted since babylonians to egyptians all the way down to visigoth spain and then to hitler does not mean they are superior by dna. You must be zionist cuz that comment was pathetic
France = Viking , Gaulois ,Basques, Romain , Celtes , Bourgons , Goths , Franks , Norman , Arabe in the sought ... Christian , Catholics Protestan Jewish Muslim , Laic , Agnostic . This country is a mess ! ! !
Do people back then really believed that their leader really is the son of gods or powerful creature? OR do tthe people know their leader is bull shiting but just play along.
Do people back then really believed that their leader really is the son of gods or powerful creature? OR do the the people know their leader is bull shiting but just play alone?
@aznpride0 They still do. Same here in Asia. Godly Japanese emperor or Thai heavenly his majesty the king. We don't think they are the GOD himself but we treat these people highly.
At least they have lots of guts to face controversy, protect their bloodline and lead the nation, eh?
@groverbasilis not really, ever heard of Romance and Germanic Languages? German, as is obvious, developed from the old Germanic languages like Old Frankish, Old Saxon, Old Low Franconian. French and Italian developed from Latin, it developed from the Latin vernacular spoken in the Roman Provinces. Then there's also Indo-European Languages in Europe like Gaelic, Welsh, Irish, Cornish, Breton. But There is an ancestor of German, actually several.
@Narjoso French has very few from german, not the grammar, not most of the vocabulary, may be english could be an hybrid but not french. Spanish and French share huge similarities, and french and italian have 89% of lexical similarities, german has nothing to do wuth french.
@MissKitty88 Gaelic, Welsh, Irish, Cornish, Breton and so on, while still being Indo-European, are more specificaly Celtic languages. Spoken by the natives of the British Isles and Brittany. Indo-European refers to a whole slew of languages including all Germanic, Romance, Celtic and more language families from all over Europe, India and Iran.
@SpadaccinoLuciano I am not a nazi, or a racist. I assume you are if you are Italian as sadly your culture (but not your race) makes it far more likely.
The whole of Europe through the middle east across to India is full of Aryans and that includes southern Europe. t never meant just the germans or germanic people, hitler thought the germanic peoples were the best of the aryans but he was wrong. Obviously natural selection suggests the Jews are genetically SUPERIOR.
@JonasR001 The Roman Empire collapsed in 1453 AD. What happened in 476 AD is that the western provinces were lost to barbarian occupiers for some time, until Emperor Justinian I liberated them and brought them again under Roman jurisdiction in 550 AD.
@JonasR001 The empire collapsed but it did not just disappear in a puff of smoke. It broke up but bits of it carried on, some just in name like the institution of the holy roman emperor.
Interestingly enough,I once read that Americanus or however he was called...that name was originally of Gothic origin.The continents of the Western hemisphere use names that would have fitted in,in Gothic society.
The Franks aren't responsible for most of France's population,they are probably responsible for a major shift in the population of Spain,France and Germany not to mention Northern Italy.
Not to mention the Netherlands and Belgium,they were a pan-European people. The French language much like its ethnicity has minor ties with the celtic people but the foundation does not rest on the Gauls but on the foundation build by Clovis.
Its always interesting how the history takes its turn. While Europe was battlefield of Barbarians, Indians had already finished writing longest epic human have ever written and Chinese had already invented papers.
@StellandBlood Europe went into Renaissance in 14th century and Industrialization in 18th century. When Marco Polo visited China (13th cen), he was astounded by Chinese civilization. He commented that he saw paved roads, attached bathroom in households, etc which were new to any European those days. In my earlier comment I was appreciating how fast Europe managed to climb up the pole of civilization putting all ancient living civilizations like that of China and India way behind in the race.
@StellandBlood Another thing that Indian and Chinese civilization can still be proud on is that they did not get Christianized or Islamized despite numerous attempts but continued on with their own culture that they developed for thousand of years. Europe, on the other hand, lost its identity it had created until the arrival of Christian missionaries. Europe of Greeks and early Romans were completely different than that of today's. I wish I was born in those.
@NasriTheNewKing Word "Powerful" itself is not absolute. Alexander was thought unmatched, until he got his deathblow fighting against an Indian state. While Romans were ruling Mediterranean, a larger Han empire was ruling in China. But, measuring "powerfulness" is impossible until they come in contact.
Well you know Europe during centuries developed more things about war than society sector , europe has been a battlefield since 2700 years , trust me roman had the most powerful ( not the biggest ) they totally revolutioned warfare , take the gauls , from 700 BC to Verciingetorix they were considered as the most powerful , and Julius ceaser with 50 000 soldiers made them looks like a bunch of amateurs warriors .
But now about chinese , during the antiquity or middle-age i don't think they would have won against europe , i mean a european is phisically stronger than a asian , like a black is stronger than a white , after of course you got exeption , i don't see if you looked europe during middle age , it was a barbaric place , 2 hundred year war happened between England and France , the crusades and so on , europe wasn't the most developped but about war it was another hiistory .
@NasriTheNewKing Nobody would have thought Mongols were that strong had they not come in contact with Persians and Europeans. I blame our educational system that completely ignores the world and talks about only Romans and Greeks, like as if nothing happened in rest of the world.
You right they all talks about Romans and Greeks but they don't talk about Celtics , which is as old as greeks , celts had a better quality of life , they were richer , better in trades , lover of the nature through the druids , the most peaceful paople in europe , check their gods none of them is a "war" god .
After the mongols were strong because they were mainly using cavalry , which in europe it was more infantry , but now if you take the French , their cavalry had no equal on earths , anyway if Mongols went after Polands they would have been crushed , because the swiss got the best pikemen , the kings of europe used them as mercenaries even the pope's guard is still walled the swiss guard , it is from that time .
I know that's why i said poland but they didn't really invade it was mostly raids , but it is sad that we needed more than 2000 years to understand that we were brothers , you europeans share almost all the same ancestors , Celts , Germans , Slavs , Latin , nordic and so on , but on the other hand i'm happy , because it shows that Napoleon was sucessfull , the EU was his idea .
@NasriTheNewKing mongols were essentially horse archers so there's no way a pike man could win against them, in Battle_of_Legnica they destroyed an army comprising of armies of Poland, Knights Templar, knights hospitallers and HRE.
and , when the mongols invaded Poland under the golden horde in 1259 Lublin, Sieradz, Sandomierz, Zawichost, Kraków, and Bytom were ravaged and plundered. but they had no intention of occupying or conquering Poland.
@NasriTheNewKing Also, about mongols vs French Gendarmes the mongols were the best cavalry in the world whereas the french were the best cavalry in Europe. The french were not match to mongol tactics
Lol... you dare to compar a men dressing with a animal skin on him against a full armored knight on a armored horse ? The gendarme were the most devastating cavalry that the world has seen . Ask to those 200 000 turks during the siiege of Antioch what happened when the French get ou of the city and charged their lines . With around 15 000 men .
Mongols weren't all horse archers , they also had Infantry and traditional cavalry , but french got artillery , trebuchet , canons , Catapults , balistics , and let's see what your horse archer will do against that .
@NasriTheNewKing did you read about the battle i told you too, as for your french canons
Several sources mention Chinese firearms and gunpowder weapons being deployed by the Mongols against European forces at the Battle of Mohi in 1241.Professor Kenneth Warren Chase credits the Mongols for introducing into Europe gunpowder and its associated weaponry.
@NasriTheNewKing third crusade was 1189-1192 AD man, the mongols were not even united at that time, they were united in 1206 and in 1192 Chinggis was still Temujin
The problem of Mongols was siege warfare,european fortifications were smaller,but higher and more resistant,than asian fortifications,european armour was better for melee combat than the mongol,hence they were repelled by the hungarians and croatians(they lost tremendously there) when they tried to take the urban centers,eastern europeans afterwards learned the lessons from those lost battles,and searched to engage them by ambush,avoiding their tremendous firepower.
They attempted to take their cities and were unable to,yes thats precisely my advise to you go read the mongol invasion of Europe,and you will find this.
@StellandBlood their khan died due to which Batu and Tsubodai were both called back to Karakorum to take part in the coronation of new gurkhan, Europe was not as easy for mongols as in the dense forests of Germany they had less area to maneuver and the sinews in their bows was less than perfact in european climate but as for fortifications they had gunpowder of the chin and against gunpowder no for can hold for long
Mongol powder weapons were still extremely primitive,basically bombs that were thrown sometimes with catapults,or even arms force,that did nothing to a stone wall,as it completely lacked penetration power.
Yes thats the main event,the horde withdrew,but the truth is that Mongol khanates emerged in Russia,as the result of the golden horde expansion,and were later destroyed by Moscowy.
@StellandBlood well we can agree on the fact that mongols were better on plains but they were not as effective against walls ( i did'nt say they were useless against walls coz they defeated everyone from china to Europe and they all had walled cities). The european fighting style was more personal where as the mongols worked as disciplined units of 10 onwards due to which they had an edge. rest they dint went into germany and everything else from there can only be asumed
@StellandBlood when the mongols invaded Poland under the golden horde in 1259 Lublin, Sieradz, Sandomierz, Zawichost, Kraków, and Bytom were ravaged and plundered.
I don't think the Roman Empire during the Frankish migration had their soldiers equipped with square shields as in the past. They were armed with oval shields carrying the long sword spatha instead of the short stabbing gladius. They are no longer the legions of old.
Nicely made infotainment, but I would be more happy if cloth & weapons were even close to historically accurate. In its current state it's all fantasy, History Channel - style. I dont ask for 99% accuracy, but still... Franks of 4-5th centuries wielded seaxes, early Migration period Spathae, roman Gladii - not "knightly style" fantasy swords.
Chota chrarr chsrr, ahrrs, dhrr sjchhrrr WTF!? That's not frankisch, that's bullshittisch! Make it sharp = maak es shaarp! and not, chrr, grrr, schnnr!!
"The only way the Germanic peoples were going to be converted to Christianity, in fact the only way any Pagan was ever converted to Christianity, was that the power of the Christian God be demonstrated. That can be done through a miricle and there is no bigger miricle than a battle"
Scandinavians have always been barbarians. The Normans, Franks, Goths, Vikings etc. The reason the Scandinavians were so successful was because of natural selection. Since only the strong survived, the Scandinavians are naturally bigger than most other people. In the rough climate of Norway, Sweden, Iceland and Finland, the biggest and best people survived and passed it on through generations. You can still see this today. Dolph Lundgren is an example.
@MrBillcale Scandinavians are not Germans. A lot of Norwegians immigrated to northern Germany and Netherlands so your ancestors may be Norwegian. The Franks lived in west Germany, while the Normans lived in northern France and southern England and were from Viking decent.
What you say proves nothing , Charlemagne wasn't scandinavian and he was probably the biggest man alive during his time ( around 2m10 ) , the roman weren't scandinavian too and they dominated others , in 1 on 1 they weren't really powerful but when it come to fight in groups it was another story , the franks weren't biggest too , just making war for them was a normal thing .
I know you never said that Charlemagne was scandinavian , but you said that rought climate make people stonge well in a way it is truth but you can't say that Rome had a rought climate neither France , if you want my opinion it is more how you live your life than a climate , Gauls untill Julius ceaser were considered as the most powerfull warriors because they spent their time by hunting and making war against germans .
@NasriTheNewKing I have actually studied this. Have you heard of ''Survival of the Fittest''? In rough climates, only the strongest will survive. Through generations they will eventually adapt to the climate. If you have ever been to Italy and other southern parts of Europe, you will see that the people there are much smaller than the people in Norway. The reason Rome was so successful because they had access to new technology before everyone else at that time.
You're talking to me about genetic , Germanic peoples are tall , this has nothing to do with climate , dutch are tall and there's no ice or a climate of -45 there while the latins are small , inuits also live in the snow and they're small , take the African now , they live in a hot climate and a black african is stronger than a white man . After of course living in a cold climate will make you stronger but this is the case of everybody , put a italian there it'll be the same .
@tatinum2 Darwin is the most misquoted man in all of history. Survival of the most fit to reproduce, like the Chinese, not fitness. Compare an Olympic athelete with 20 gold medals and no children to a Chinese long shore worker who has 30 children, who is the survivor? Compare Andrew Carnegie who made a huge fortune and had no kids to the smae Chinaman, who is more fit? Survival is based on reproduction, not running, jumping and swimming. There are species of flies that don't even eat.
back in those days they didnt care to be labeled GERMANIC...they just wanted to eat.....only today do non-achievers find refuge in the past of bloody coexistence where man pitted himself against another man in order to feed his child too.... we glorify war today because non of you fucks ever saw it.....go talk to a veteran and see if he..1: slaps your face..or 2: does not talk about it.....
the goths the francs and the vandals, and the Saxons, who together were the forces that destroyed Rome (Romes own political situation and bad emperors helped) but these warrior races were far more troublesome to the Romans than any other. however all of them were of Germanic, and Norman descent, as well as collections of peoples along borders of what is today Russia, Algeria etc. forced out by Huns, marauders and reformed into groups. Clovis the first however was one of the bloodiest men ever
the part where they are talking about going to war against the Visigoths thaey are speaking lithuanian and saying:Mes turim paimti mergu which means we have to get some more girls:DDDDDDDDD
THANKS for these documentarys! Really appreciate it! You should have all the credit in the world, using Youtube in this way, compared with all the "crap" you can find here :-) But this is GOOD, informative, and a very easy and exciting way to learn a bit of history
French ancestors are Gaulish, Romans and Frankish, not only Gaulish and Frankish, study history. Clovis became king only by the force, conquering the Kingdom of Syagrius, the last territory of the Roman Empire in occident. Thanks to Clovis baptism, The Gallo-Roman society accepted the union with the Franks and the Roman Empire of East recognized the Kingdom of Clovis.
@artukikemty The Franks were the most succesful of all Germanic peoples. They created a large kingdom in Gaul which would later evolve into France. Clovis converted to Christianity in order to be accepted by the Gallo-Roman population. The name Franks became synomous with Western Europeans. The Eastern Roman or Byzantine Empire, the Arabs and people in the Near East and Middle East called visitors from Western Europe as Franks.
@MrLantean That's what I said, I'm talking about the main ethnic groups in France and how they evolved to become French. Gallo-Romans always considered themselves as True Roman Citizens according to serious historians and archeological researches.
@artukikemty The Gallo-Romans were descended from Roman settlers and Romanized Celtic population. They of course spoke a variant of Latin which later evolved into French. Many Germanic people had lived within the Roman Empire for several generations and many regarded themselves as Romans. But 'True Romans' still saw these Germanic peoples as barbarians and hardly embraced them as fellow Roman citizens.
Only the aristocraty considered themself as Romans , the rest of the gauls still spoke gaulish and kept beleiving in their gods , practicing their old traditions , still painting their body when they went to war , the gaulish traditions and language definatly ended when Clovis beaten the last gaulish warlord Syagrius ( which is still a gaulish name ) .
@NasriTheNewKing Rome had ruled Gaul for almost 500 years, long enough to Romanize its Gallic population. By the time the Franks took over, they were already a Latin-speaking Christian population. Their dialect of Latin later evolved into French. Traditional Gallic language and culture became Romanized as well. Gallo-Roman culture is the intermingling of Roman and Gallic cultures. Syagrius is not exactly a Gaulish name but rather a Romanized name.
Gallia was still speaking Gaulish but most of gaulish also learned latin , Brennos once say in Latin Vae Victis and it was 400 years ealier Julius Ceaser , Syagrius is gaulish , just like Brennos latinized in Brennus , it is Charlemagne that officlay named Latin the main language during the 9th century , that's why today french is 70 % latin and the rest germanic , Clovis executed most of the gallo-roman aristocraty which were christians but the people was still pagan .
@NasriTheNewKing Christianity was first spread among commoners and peasants before the aistocracy themselves adopted it. I doubted that he would slaughtered the Gallo-Roman aristocracy. They were highly educated and their expertise were needed to administer his domains. After converted to Christianity, the Franks adopted the language and culture of the Gallo-Romans. Overtime, the Frankish language merged with native Latin dialects which later evolved into French.
No he really killed most of the Gallo-roman aristocraty , he even killed his own members family to see his empire going to his son , you know Clovis became king at the age of 15 years , his family tried to use him especially his uncle , you know clovis was know for being very cruel too .
@NasriTheNewKing Perhaps prior to his conversion, he did killed many of the Gallo-Roman aristocracy but he would need the surviving ones to administer his domains. He was living at the time of constant warfare between rival Germanic people. He had to be cruel and ruthless in order to survive. After his conversion, he started to have friendly relationships with the Gallo-Roman population.
The only roman architecture that you found in gallia was roads and the colissum in Nîmes , so we can't say that they romanized rome especially that they left gallia kinda independant but in exchange Gallia had to help roman during battles , the Narbonese sector was completly romanized but the rest was still savage ,
@NasriTheNewKing Gaulish population considered them selves as Romans. The world fact book classifies french population Celtic-Latin with Germanic, this was only possible because of the high romanization in Gaul at cultural and racial level. There exists historical facts of what I'm telling you.
The wisigoth went to aquitania ( south west of france ) and they discribed the local population as barbaric who were still paiting their face and all those thing 500 years after the so called romaniztation , Gauls weren't allowed to serve in the Legion because Rome itself still considered it as Barbarian , the gallic culture officially desapeared when the Franks invaded Gallia .
@NasriTheNewKing That's a complete lie, if that was true, french would be a germanic language. According to the ethnologue website, French shares 89% of its vocabulary with italian, so, France is latin, bu culture, language and a part of the roots of its population.
French aren't latin , french is derived from latin but that's all , 60% not 89 , just look how we say our R , compared to italian , spanish , portuguese , and French used to be germanic , just Charlemagne who was in love with church obligated french to speak Latin which later created French . Was Charlemagne Latin too ?
@NasriTheNewKing Are you kidding?, look at this my friend: World Fact Book, cia.gov, France, ethnic groups: Celtic and LATIN with Teutonic, Slavic, North African, Indochinese, Basque minorities; overseas departments: black, white, mulatto, East Indian, Chinese, Amerindian. So you say that you know more than an intelligence agency?, you say also that the ethnologue website is wrong? French: Lexical similarity: 89% with Italian, 80% with Logudorese Sardinian [src], so who what are you saying?
Yes i know more than your aganecy for the only reason you're talking about something that have nothing to do with our subject . French similare with Sardinian ? Sardinian look like corsican and trust me put a corsican sentence near of a french sentence yo'ull see the difference , Bonjours , Bonjhurnù .
@NasriTheNewKing It's not my agency, it's the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), everyone can verify what I said and find out the truth about french ethnic groups, so you insist that you know more than the CIA?, Regarding the language, do you understand the difference between lexical and phonetical similarities?, I talk about lexical similarities between french and italian, not phonetic, French shares a lot of lexical and grammatical similarities with other neolatin languages.
@NasriTheNewKing The conquers of the Franks were only pollitical, they never populated the whole Gaul, at the end of this documentary that's mentioned, you're wring again. Charlemagne was born in current Belgium, his native language was probably a germanic dialect, Franks and gallo-roman people ARE NOT THE SAME. Charlemange obligated people to speak latin, are you kidding?, so the Goths obligated spanish to speak latin as well, hahaha, go back to school and learn history.
@NasriTheNewKing The Charlemagne "empire" included current germany, northern italy, and northern spain, and so what?, it does not mean that he had to be latin, I'm talking about the people in Gaul not the king. I have more facts from famous french archeologues like Jean Louis Brunaux and even french presidents like François Mitterand who give important facts about french ancestors, even if you don't like.
Dude today the french DNA is composed at 85% celtic . Scientific fact . Only the language is latin , Yes berlin and Paris aren't comparable , for the simple reason French are more class than Germans . When the Wisigoth invaded aquitaine ( south west of france ) during the 5th century they discribed the population as celtic ,
Charlemagne began with a part of France , at the death of hiis brother he took the northern part of France , started his conquest Germany , Italy , Spain but Also the mediteranean island like Corsice , Sardenia . Yes charlemagne obligated to people to speak Latin , anyway French is pronouced wth a germanic accent , no wonder why only Germans are able to speak a good french .
François mitterand was an idiot , like Charle De Gaulle also spoke about Greek , because they founded the city of Marseille in 600 BC ? Now you should know that Roman didn't mix with gauls , they kinda let Gallia independant , but in return Gaul had to help roman during their campaign , the Gaulish culture , traditions , heritage disapeared when Franks invaded Gallia . Anyway just visite the region , Lorraine , Alsace , Bretagne , Normandy , Nord pas de calais and so on .
About French ancestors he says:
So everyone who does not share your opinion about french ancestors is an idiot?
@NasriTheNewKing So, for you the CIA are idiots, François Mitterrand is an idiot, De Gaulle is an idiot, archeologues specialist are idiots, and you're the only one illuminated with the truth?, who can believe that?, look for "ancetres genetiques des français", and you will see the reality about the racial composition in France, not lies.
CIA are complete idiot , this is not new , Ben laden is the perfect exemple , anyway , why you're historians seems to forget is that , France throughout the last 1500 years , extended his territory , conquering lands , Alsace ( Allemanni ) Roussillon (Iberes ) Nordique talking about normands ? yes maybe 1 on 50 had nordic roots , sarrasins WHENE THE FUCK ?
@NasriTheNewKing The estimated is celtic around 65% taking into account celtic, celtiberian, and celtic-italic. Greco-Roman is around 15% and germanic-nordic around 15% as well, so the population is basically predominantly celtic but with latin and germanic islands, basically the latin population is located on the south "midi-français", and the germanic to the nord. Anyway, if france is considered to be a latin country is because of the language and culture, and even a part of the population.
@NasriTheNewKing What it's for sure is that France is not, in general, considered to be a celtic nation, and its not also included within the germanic nations (except the nord and nordeast), so what is it?, France is enclosed within the european latin nations (at least most of its territory).
So that's what i've said , French are latin throught the Language , and about culture , france is influenced by many other cultures ( includng latin ) . trust me , you find as many blond as Germany or England , just the south of France saw the imigration of Spanish and Italians , tha'ts why you find more latin there but if you take the real native of those regions you'll see the difference .
You also find many blonds in north italy because this region used to be Gaulish , did you see the difference between South and North ? It' s a bit the same in france Extrem south and the rest lol .
@NasriTheNewKing I agree, most of french ancestors are celtic, but the 12-13% of true latin population can not be neglected as well as the small percent of true nordic population in northern france, so, being inclusive with the main european ethnic groups in France it's fair to say that french population is celtic and latin with teutonic, besides, the Romans arrived before to France that Normans, so, who is more french?, I guess both are, France is a multicultural country.
@NasriTheNewKing By the way, among the celtic ancestors I'm including all celtic sub-groups, such as celtic-italic, celtic-iberian and celtic-germanic and "pure" celtic as well.
I did check the french DNA and the last time i did t t was composed at 85% of celtic heritage , do you think 50 000 romans could wipe out almost 4 millions gauls ?
Same with franks , they were a minorites when they came , Vikings setled in normandy ( with around 700 000 peoples ) with 3500 vikings , Sarrassin , kicked out in 732 , even if some of them stayed mostr of them died , Charles Martel almost destroyed their 300 000 soldiers , where he got the name the Hammer .
@NasriTheNewKing Anyway the only celtic nations are Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Galice and Britain. I never said that the whole population is latin, but there's a percent of the population it is. But to give a comparison, Spain has less greco-roman blood than France and it's a latin country, it's mainly the language and the culture what makes latin a country, if it was because of the race, only southern Italy would be latin.
@NasriTheNewKing if the celtic-germanic is added then yes, the percent of celtic is around 85%, but celtiiberian and celtic-italic could be considered as southern mixed races, it depends on the point of view.
@NasriTheNewKing 300,000 is far fetched. Sources quote around 50,000. Its a huge force no doubt.
Celtic influences are all around Spain and France. Its not surprising that the French have celtic DNA. However, I do believe the Germanic DNA of the Franks is also very predominant in the French.
I don't understand this, what exactly is Celtic & Germanic DNA? The largest halogroup in France and Germany seems to be R1B which is pre-celtic people. But besides this, is there any information on exactly how many Franks settled in France? Is it fair to say Northern France has more Frankish ancestry than the south?
@NasriTheNewKing By the way, look at what german entrepreneurs say about french: M. Börner: le rapprochement entre Paris et Berlin est tout simplement impossible. "La mentalité des Français est beaucoup plus proche de celle des Italiens que de celle des Allemands", explique-t-il.", you may search it on internet "Pour les patrons allemands, "la France est devenue un facteur de risque à prendre très au sérieux".
"Clovis converted to Christianity in order to be accepted by the Gallo-Roman population." Well not really , he didn't care to be accepted since he exexuted most of the aristocraty , he converted to christiany during a battle , he was losing to alamannis , he prayed every germanic gods without any sucess and then he prayed Jesus saying that if he wins the battle he'll convert himself to christiany and of course by a miracle he won and here you have the first barbarian christian .
@NasriTheNewKing I believe is the combination of both. Both the Alammanis and the Franks were Germanic peoples with common culture, language.and religion. Both sides worshiped the same gods. Clovis perhaps tried his luck wiith Christianity, hoping that he would gain victory over the Alammanis which he actually did. The Gallo-Roman population were a Christian population while the Franks were pagans. If they were also Christians, then they would be accepted by the Gallo-Romans.
Well, my birth in California, 66+ years ago, was to parents of Frankish, Celtish, Saxony, and even the barbaric monsters attacking Rome ancestry, makes me quite a celib, I suppose. But, to all our mutual shame, our ancestry has a comon tale of greed, gore, and deception. Here, in America of today, I now also carry the shame of a leadership run by the banker cartel formed out of the Frankish ancestry, Hell-bent on owning the entire world, through, Greed, Gore, and Deception. Nuff said.
@freoltic French ancestors are Gaulish, Romans and Frankish, not only Gaulish and Frankish, study history. @dorianleakey -thats a pretty pathetic comment to make. Jews are genetically superior? groverbasilis 2 months ago
MissKitty88 2 months ago 5

YES, French today if from german language and latin could say a hybrid language, Italian and Spanish is more close eachother then the french
Narjoso 2 months ago
@Narjoso French has very few from german, not the grammar, not most of the vocabulary, may be english could be an hybrid but not french. Spanish and French share huge similarities, and french and italian have 89% of lexical similarities, german has nothing to do wuth french.
artukikemty 1 month ago
@MissKitty88 Gaelic, Welsh, Irish, Cornish, Breton and so on, while still being Indo-European, are more specificaly Celtic languages. Spoken by the natives of the British Isles and Brittany. Indo-European refers to a whole slew of languages including all Germanic, Romance, Celtic and more language families from all over Europe, India and Iran.

how can it be that in 486 AD there were Romans? the Roman empire collapsed in 476 AD
JonasR001 2 months ago
@JonasR001 The Roman Empire collapsed in 1453 AD. What happened in 476 AD is that the western provinces were lost to barbarian occupiers for some time, until Emperor Justinian I liberated them and brought them again under Roman jurisdiction in 550 AD.

@ashowmega
Not only a battlefield,by the 3rd century europeans had reached industrialization.
StellandBlood 2 months ago
@StellandBlood Europe went into Renaissance in 14th century and Industrialization in 18th century. When Marco Polo visited China (13th cen), he was astounded by Chinese civilization. He commented that he saw paved roads, attached bathroom in households, etc which were new to any European those days. In my earlier comment I was appreciating how fast Europe managed to climb up the pole of civilization putting all ancient living civilizations like that of China and India way behind in the race.

@ashowmega
The Roman Empire invented the steam engine,in the 3rd century,not Britain that re-invented it in the 18th.
StellandBlood 2 months ago
@StellandBlood Another thing that Indian and Chinese civilization can still be proud on is that they did not get Christianized or Islamized despite numerous attempts but continued on with their own culture that they developed for thousand of years. Europe, on the other hand, lost its identity it had created until the arrival of Christian missionaries. Europe of Greeks and early Romans were completely different than that of today's. I wish I was born in those.

NasriTheNewKing 2 months ago
@NasriTheNewKing Word "Powerful" itself is not absolute. Alexander was thought unmatched, until he got his deathblow fighting against an Indian state. While Romans were ruling Mediterranean, a larger Han empire was ruling in China. But, measuring "powerfulness" is impossible until they come in contact.
ashowmega 2 months ago
@ashowmega

@StellandBlood their khan died due to which Batu and Tsubodai were both called back to Karakorum to take part in the coronation of new gurkhan, Europe was not as easy for mongols as in the dense forests of Germany they had less area to maneuver and the sinews in their bows was less than perfact in european climate but as for fortifications they had gunpowder of the chin and against gunpowder no for can hold for long
4uviki 2 months ago
@4uviki
Gunpowder is nothing against a stone wall , i don't know if you saw the european castle , generally they had water around the castle .
NasriTheNewKing 2 months ago
@4uviki
StellandBlood 2 months ago
@StellandBlood well we can agree on the fact that mongols were better on plains but they were not as effective against walls ( i did'nt say they were useless against walls coz they defeated everyone from china to Europe and they all had walled cities). The european fighting style was more personal where as the mongols worked as disciplined units of 10 onwards due to which they had an edge. rest they dint went into germany and everything else from there can only be asumed

Dolph Lundgren is an example.
tatinum2 3 months ago

MrBillcale 3 months ago

NasriTheNewKing 3 months ago
@NasriTheNewKing I never claimed that Charlemagne nor the Romans were Scandinavian, I'm just explaining why the Vikings were such great warriors.
tatinum2 3 months ago
@tatinum2
NasriTheNewKing 3 months ago
@NasriTheNewKing I have actually studied this. Have you heard of ''Survival of the Fittest''? In rough climates, only the strongest will survive. Through generations they will eventually adapt to the climate. If you have ever been to Italy and other southern parts of Europe, you will see that the people there are much smaller than the people in Norway. The reason Rome was so successful because they had access to new technology before everyone else at that time.
tatinum2 3 months ago
@tatinum2

French ancestors are Gaulish, Romans and Frankish, not only Gaulish and Frankish, study history. Clovis became king only by the force, conquering the Kingdom of Syagrius, the last territory of the Roman Empire in occident. Thanks to Clovis baptism, The Gallo-Roman society accepted the union with the Franks and the Roman Empire of East recognized the Kingdom of Clovis.
artukikemty 5 months ago
@artukikemty The Franks were the most succesful of all Germanic peoples. They created a large kingdom in Gaul which would later evolve into France. Clovis converted to Christianity in order to be accepted by the Gallo-Roman population. The name Franks became synomous with Western Europeans. The Eastern Roman or Byzantine Empire, the Arabs and people in the Near East and Middle East called visitors from Western Europe as Franks.
MrLantean 4 months ago
@MrLantean That's what I said, I'm talking about the main ethnic groups in France and how they evolved to become French. Gallo-Romans always considered themselves as True Roman Citizens according to serious historians and archeological researches.
artukikemty 4 months ago
@artukikemty The Gallo-Romans were descended from Roman settlers and Romanized Celtic population. They of course spoke a variant of Latin which later evolved into French. Many Germanic people had lived within the Roman Empire for several generations and many regarded themselves as Romans. But 'True Romans' still saw these Germanic peoples as barbarians and hardly embraced them as fellow Roman citizens.
MrLantean 4 months ago
@MrLantean
NasriTheNewKing 4 months ago
@NasriTheNewKing Rome had ruled Gaul for almost 500 years, long enough to Romanize its Gallic population. By the time the Franks took over, they were already a Latin-speaking Christian population. Their dialect of Latin later evolved into French. Traditional Gallic language and culture became Romanized as well. Gallo-Roman culture is the intermingling of Roman and Gallic cultures. Syagrius is not exactly a Gaulish name but rather a Romanized name.
MrLantean 4 months ago
@MrLantean
NasriTheNewKing 4 months ago
@NasriTheNewKing Christianity was first spread among commoners and peasants before the aistocracy themselves adopted it. I doubted that he would slaughtered the Gallo-Roman aristocracy. They were highly educated and their expertise were needed to administer his domains. After converted to Christianity, the Franks adopted the language and culture of the Gallo-Romans. Overtime, the Frankish language merged with native Latin dialects which later evolved into French.
MrLantean 4 months ago
@MrLantean
No he really killed most of the Gallo-roman aristocraty , he even killed his own members family to see his empire going to his son , you know Clovis became king at the age of 15 years , his family tried to use him especially his uncle , you know clovis was know for being very cruel too .
NasriTheNewKing 4 months ago
@NasriTheNewKing Perhaps prior to his conversion, he did killed many of the Gallo-Roman aristocracy but he would need the surviving ones to administer his domains. He was living at the time of constant warfare between rival Germanic people. He had to be cruel and ruthless in order to survive. After his conversion, he started to have friendly relationships with the Gallo-Roman population.
MrLantean 4 months ago
@MrLantean
The only roman architecture that you found in gallia was roads and the colissum in Nîmes , so we can't say that they romanized rome especially that they left gallia kinda independant but in exchange Gallia had to help roman during battles , the Narbonese sector was completly romanized but the rest was still savage ,
NasriTheNewKing 4 months ago
@NasriTheNewKing Gaulish population considered them selves as Romans. The world fact book classifies french population Celtic-Latin with Germanic, this was only possible because of the high romanization in Gaul at cultural and racial level. There exists historical facts of what I'm telling you.
artukikemty 3 months ago
@artukikemty
NasriTheNewKing 3 months ago
@NasriTheNewKing That's a complete lie, if that was true, french would be a germanic language. According to the ethnologue website, French shares 89% of its vocabulary with italian, so, France is latin, bu culture, language and a part of the roots of its population.
artukikemty 3 months ago
@artukikemty

Charlemagne was born in current Belgium, his native language was probably a germanic dialect, Franks and gallo-roman people ARE NOT THE SAME. Charlemange obligated people to speak latin, are you kidding?, so the Goths obligated spanish to speak latin as well, hahaha, go back to school and learn history.
artukikemty 3 months ago
@NasriTheNewKing The Charlemagne "empire" included current germany, northern italy, and northern spain, and so what?, it does not mean that he had to be latin, I'm talking about the people in Gaul not the king. I have more facts from famous french archeologues like Jean Louis Brunaux and even french presidents like François Mitterand who give important facts about french ancestors, even if you don't like.

@artukikemty
Dude today the french DNA is composed at 85% celtic . Scientific fact . Only the language is latin , Yes berlin and Paris aren't comparable , for the simple reason French are more class than Germans . When the Wisigoth invaded aquitaine ( south west of france ) during the 5th century they discribed the population as celtic ,
NasriTheNewKing 3 months ago
@artukikemty

@artukikemty
NasriTheNewKing 3 months ago
@NasriTheNewKing
and tell me where's the latin heritage in it .
NasriTheNewKing 3 months ago
About French ancestors he says:
artukikemty 3 months ago

So everyone who does not share your opinion about french ancestors is an idiot?
artukikemty 3 months ago
@NasriTheNewKing So, for you the CIA are idiots, François Mitterrand is an idiot, De Gaulle is an idiot, archeologues specialist are idiots, and you're the only one illuminated with the truth?, who can believe that?, look for "ancetres genetiques des français", and you will see the reality about the racial composition in France, not lies.
artukikemty 3 months ago
@artukikemty
NasriTheNewKing 3 months ago
@NasriTheNewKing The estimated is celtic around 65% taking into account celtic, celtiberian, and celtic-italic. Greco-Roman is around 15% and germanic-nordic around 15% as well, so the population is basically predominantly celtic but with latin and germanic islands, basically the latin population is located on the south "midi-français", and the germanic to the nord. Anyway, if france is considered to be a latin country is because of the language and culture, and even a part of the population.
artukikemty 3 months ago
@NasriTheNewKing What it's for sure is that France is not, in general, considered to be a celtic nation, and its not also included within the germanic nations (except the nord and nordeast), so what is it?, France is enclosed within the european latin nations (at least most of its territory).
artukikemty 3 months ago
@artukikemty
NasriTheNewKing 3 months ago
@artukikemty
You also find many blonds in north italy because this region used to be Gaulish , did you see the difference between South and North ? It' s a bit the same in france Extrem south and the rest lol .
NasriTheNewKing 3 months ago
@NasriTheNewKing
The south also has blondes if I'm not wrong. From sicily, some may have northern ancestry from the Normans.
ConstantineJoseph 2 months ago
@NasriTheNewKing I agree, most of french ancestors are celtic, but the 12-13% of true latin population can not be neglected as well as the small percent of true nordic population in northern france, so, being inclusive with the main european ethnic groups in France it's fair to say that french population is celtic and latin with teutonic, besides, the Romans arrived before to France that Normans, so, who is more french?, I guess both are, France is a multicultural country.
artukikemty 2 months ago
@NasriTheNewKing By the way, among the celtic ancestors I'm including all celtic sub-groups, such as celtic-italic, celtic-iberian and celtic-germanic and "pure" celtic as well.
artukikemty 2 months ago
@artukikemty
NasriTheNewKing 3 months ago
@NasriTheNewKing Anyway the only celtic nations are Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Galice and Britain. I never said that the whole population is latin, but there's a percent of the population it is. But to give a comparison, Spain has less greco-roman blood than France and it's a latin country, it's mainly the language and the culture what makes latin a country, if it was because of the race, only southern Italy would be latin.
artukikemty 3 months ago
@NasriTheNewKing if the celtic-germanic is added then yes, the percent of celtic is around 85%, but celtiiberian and celtic-italic could be considered as southern mixed races, it depends on the point of view.
artukikemty 3 months ago
@NasriTheNewKing 300,000 is far fetched. Sources quote around 50,000. Its a huge force no doubt.
Celtic influences are all around Spain and France. Its not surprising that the French have celtic DNA. However, I do believe the Germanic DNA of the Franks is also very predominant in the French.
ConstantineJoseph 2 months ago
@ConstantineJoseph
FlashVirus 2 months ago
@NasriTheNewKing By the way, look at what german entrepreneurs say about french: M. Börner: le rapprochement entre Paris et Berlin est tout simplement impossible. "La mentalité des Français est beaucoup plus proche de celle des Italiens que de celle des Allemands", explique-t-il.", you may search it on internet "Pour les patrons allemands, "la France est devenue un facteur de risque à prendre très au sérieux".

@MrLantean
NasriTheNewKing 4 months ago

Nuff said.

Yeah, I'm Dutch (from Brabant which is below the Rhine) and proud of my Frankish ancestors. Frankish is actually the ancestor of the Dutch language!

@freoltic French ancestors are Gaulish, Romans and Frankish, not only Gaulish and Frankish, study history.
