souverainiste (French) means sovereignist (English) and refers to showing respect for the independent decision making powers of individual nations, which the European Parliament and European Commission, as supranational bodies, have never seen as the highest priority.
The greatest reason that EU supporters seem capable of making for Britain staying in The EU seems to be based largely on our inadequacy in Britain to stand alone due to the MASSIVE and malign damage membership has already done to Britain.

"Peru is characterised by extreme inequalities in income distribution, with 20% of the population controlling over 54% of national income. It is estimated that around 50% of Peruvians live in poverty, and 20% in extreme poverty. "
I knew he took his template from the home of his birth (Peru.) Go back!
obviously your simple minded and have no fookin brain, dumbass. your on about peru where 20% of the populous control 54% of the weath. Here in our own country 1% controls 20% I'll spell it out for you
peru 20% calculated down to 1% = 1%population to 2.7% weath The UK is over ten times worse. sure poverty is not as bad but that is only due to our socialist welfare handouts. Our country is fucked and you diss this man, who stands up for true freedom and democracy, your a mess my friend
Daniel Hannan is a negative orator. He appeals to simple minded right wingers ala PALIN CREW. To say the NHS was and is a disaster is typical of tax avoiding, oinks like him. Paddington Bear party is far better than Libertarian
Daniel Hannan was born in Peru. He is not eligible to work in Europe or GB. He is an illegal immigrant! Repatriate him to Peru and lets keep Paddington Bear. He is from Irish background and we never vote Tory!
He is an immigrant... not an illegal immigrant. There's a very large difference.
I know I'm feeding the trolls with this comment but I don't really care.
He's not from an Irish background. He's from an ANGLO Irish background - again, a huge difference (in terms of immigration law)... still feeding the troll with this bit too, but I still don't really care.
I don't want to see the Tories, Liberals OR Labour in power.... all are part of the problem to some degree... but Hannan talks much sense.
Heaven forbid people might work to support themselves when they can just take the fruits of another person's Labour instead, eh?
OK - so I'm not advocating workhouses... I'd rather see the Libertarian Party come to power, create the tax-haven they promise and in the process attract so many businesses to base here that there will be no more unemployment in the UK.
I received a reply from the moron known as "druryman". The reply read as follows: "Then why does the rest of the world continue to flock to America to receive cutting edge treatment?" (I kid you not).
Druryman: millions of uninsured Americans can't access basic (never mind "cutting edge") treatment, and the vast majority of the rest of the population of the world can't do so either. The rich can, of course. Your fundamental mistake is to confuse what the rich can, and what others can.
It's a shame you couldn't find the brainpower to respond to WelshLibertarian either.
Where did Italian PM Silvio Berlusconi go to get his irregular heartbeat corrected? The USA! So much for his own *public* healthcare system.
Face it, the NHS needs to be cut down to a smaller size. I do not share Hannan's libertarian views, but you do over-react to his comments. He never actually insulted the NHS.
P.S. You COULD have paid for your treatments: smaller NHS = much less tax!
The number of Americans who do not have access to care...is much lower than what is usually reported. Most of those calculated into the number.....do have access to care. Its just in the form of Medicare or Medicaid etc. Thats not to say everyone has access. Im merely saying, its not nearly as many as gets reported.
I work in a US hospital. EVERYONE can get care. By our laws, no one can be turned away - lest a barrister be onto the hospital's back. We even get seen the same day and can even get some medications u can't get in ur rationed system. So ur comment is invalid, incorrect, and fundamentally flawed.
Mr Hannan. You are a nasty vile little creep. I have received far more treatment from the NHS than I could ever have paid for. The US "health system" costs far more than the NHS, and has far poorer outcomes. All else is propaganda.
Really drummy? Poorer outcomes? Then why does the rest of the world continue to flock to America to receive cutting edge treatment? Besides cloning, where are the amazing medical advances being developed from the EU vs. those in the US? Me thinks you are misinformed.
Well I'll be waiting for my cheque in the post you nasty vile little socialist. Then again if you're in and out of NHS hospitals you might not have to send me that cheque because you might find yourself dead on a hospital trolley from MRSA. Heaven forbit something should happen to you, I'm just pointing out that it might given the state of our hospitals.
From what I've been able to gather... The EU gives each MEP an opportunity to be heard after each session. They are apparently given 1 minute to add what they will to the official parlimentary minutes... If I'm wrong, someone please set me straight. I've watched nearly all of his speaches... this man says more in 1 minute than Obama can given an hour and a teleprompter!!!
It should be the decision of the UK, NOT the EU. Correct. And this is why the US must not allow the Constitution to be tread upon, or this will be our fate, the loss of our sovereignty. Wish we had Hannan here in the US rather than the "hope and change" we [don't] have.
For their money (which they got from us), they should at least be forced to listen to their speeches!!! But, ha, that would be REAL work as opposed to being a politician...
yea lets face it, Ron Paul is tight, but he is a little crazy, he gets way to caught up in his emotions. this guy is a beast, we def. need to see his type emerging in the USA's political arena

If I may be so presumptive as to classify Mr. Hannan as a Classic Liberal, or libertarian, why is it that oppositions from the collectivists (Labour/Democrats, Conservatives/Republicans) is name calling? They laugh, assert a negative outcome without proof, or just dismiss out of hand. It appears that their basic premise is that people must be controlled for the good of society and true freedom will lead to disaster and all who deny this "obvious premise" is mad.
EMOCRATS controlled the Congress for the past 2 years - and they ran the BUSH RECOVERY into the ground. DEMOCRATS give BAILOUTS to BIG BANKING, and nothing for the working poor.
Absolutely right! Their solution to everything is throw money at it. Now, they're trying to cover their incompetency with more spending and blame it on Bush. Some of those Dems should be brought up on charges and hung in the public square. They've totally sold out and betrayed their country. People don't understand how serious this stuff really is.
Daniel has got this absolutely right, as usual. What we need is a lot more opt-outs - including a referendum on opting out of membership of the corrupt, undemocratic and ruinously expensive European Union itself.

Daniel Hannon is a disgrace to the Irish.
He is a simple, right wing, selfish disgrace.
His comments on the NHS smack of Social Darwinism and Dawkins secularism.
There is a God and and many rich people like Hannon are against being a child of God and spreading society and decent services for everybody.

He is so right about the EU's LIES :
There are no plans for a European superstate.
There are no plans for a European Army.
There are no plans to take British & French foreign naval bases under EU control.
Galileo is for civilian use only.
The (un-elected) commission repects the Irish vote.
Ireland's NO blocks the will of millions of Europeans.
The Czech Republic's hesitancy is holding back the
will of millions of Europeans.
Lisbon/Constitution will only make the EU more efficient etc.
