when it comes to 4 strings basses this is a great choice for the price, probably one of the best you can get next the the esp ltd line of basses. for 5 strings the esp ltd b 105 is hands down the best bass for 300 dollars. I had this sr300 and really liked it but it broke immediately and I traded it in for the b-105. Still a great bass though.
OH, and I don't have issue with the arched pickups. The EQ on the instrument works better than that on my amp and I have an even tone across the scale. The action was almost perfect when I got it, but I lowered a little further. The intonation is VERY close, close enough that I'm not going to mess with it for now.
For $300, this is the best bass you can get. Yeah, it's made in Indonesia, yeah, it's bolt-on, but it sounds and plays like a more expensive bass. Are the Ibanez pickups the hottest? No, of course not, but they are better than average and can be upgraded to Bartolinis later on. I love my green sparkle SR300. I picked up bass again after 20 years and I played a pre-Gibson Steinberger back in the day
I HATE my Ibanez sr300. the E string and G strings are way too quiet compared to the A and D (I guess due to the pickups being arched?) and the whole thing is way too quiet overall (compared to my SX jazz). I honestly don't know if I got a defective one or what, but this is pathetic. Ibanez is quality.... they shouldn't even let a defective bass out of their factory.
@IhateSatan333 Don't get me wrong, I think their basses are fantastic, although some models like this one I'm not to happy with. The body is oddly shaped and almost too lightweight. And, of course to keep the prices low the pickups are shit.
@lavaxtris1 Wow... harsh. Things happen. Can't expect every little thing to go your way. And I'm pretty sure if you get another bass by Ibanez you most likely won't have that problem. There are plenty of artists out there who use Ibanez's, and plenty of bedroom bassists who use them, and none of them have any problems, so its just the guitar. Don't write them off just because of one defective bass... who cares if it was defective anyway? There a huge company not some mom-n-pop store...
@lavaxtris1 Lol? Whatever. Your obviously just a kid. If your gonna get offended that easily when I haven't cussed you out or anything close to that, plus, I even tried to help you by suggesting to try another. Grow up, idiot.
@Bludhoundz8 look, asshole. you were being snotty and still are, and on top of that, you completely misunderstood what I was complaining about. so just stop talking.
@Bludhoundz8 The only thing remotely snotty was the very first line. Also, its typing, not talking. Look, your last comment got removed and the other one got reported for spam, so obviously no one else agrees with you either. This conversation is over. Bye.

@lavaxtris1 I had the same uneven sound issue with my gsr200 until I had it set up properly. Given the budget nature of these instruments, the factory isn't going to spend the time needed to fine tune them. If you want it to sound right, you're going to need to spend a little cash to have it tweaked for proper intonation and string height.
i have this bass in white i love it and have had it about a year its so light and has so many different sounds out of it perfect bass recomend to ayone
I have been playing bass for over two years and i have the ibanez gsr190. I just got to into a band and i have to buy a new bass (and an amp). Would this be a good upgrade for my bass or should i go for a srx360. P.S. I have thought of Ashdown T15-250S as an amp.
@halfnolife14 I have no experience with the SRX360 but the difference between the sr300 and the gsr190 is monumental. Definitely get at least an sr300
@halfnolife14 about the amp... look for hartke, they always sound more aggresive, the srx360 is pretty good, but you can also get an bass boost out of any ibanez GUITAR and put this on your "treble" knob on the GSR190, and upgrade your bass when your band gets a bit bigger
could anyone tell me about my ibanez bass guitar i got it for free from a family friend and i here its a rare guitar but i just want to kno a little bit more about it if somone could help... its a IBANEZ SB 1200 i think its a 1990-1991
An Ibanez sound gear was my first bass. Very nice bass overall, but the preamp just sucks. It sounds like garbage. Upgrade the preamp and these things are perfect.
My problem with this bass is that it doesnt have enough... BASS.
Part of it is probably my shit amp but the E string is really quiet and the tingy tone of it gives it unique high note sounds but the low notes are really weak.
It seems like it's been built to play higher, more frontline bass parts rather than background, growly ones.
@IhateSatan333 Thanks buddy, good to know it's not just mine. The next video I do up here will have this bass in it and I want to make sure it doesn't sound like complete shit :D Have a good one!
I have one of these (held out until I found a blue one, worth the wait IMO) but the G string seems to not be near as loud as the rest and the E string seems to clank a lot. And this was straight from the store as new too. Did you have to adjust your action any on this? I have a Fender JP90 also but like the look / feel / and 24 frets on the SR300X but if the action's always wonky that'd be a shame.
@DelDuio I spent hours tuning the action, I finally got it just right. The e string buzzed pretty badly, the only issue I have now is the A string seems much louder than any other string
@SpatiumBellator in shops this bass is normally around £285 but you can get it cheaper on websites. And yes, I am a beginner and I bought this recently, and it is brilliant and perfect for me :)
@MrClownballs youre so judgmental he clearly says he didnt expect the finish to be that sparkly or wvr and how can you sit theyre and say he cant play, do you even own a bass

@MrClownballs im sorry , assclown ??? first things first , im not a faggot , second things how can you call anyone an assclown with a name like yours , i was just proving a point to you that just because someone was using a pick it doesnt make them a terrible bassist , i also said that the GATK20 was the cheapest and im right there , i used my preferences to say that its about what sounds right for you and thats what matters so go fuck yourself if your gonna be like this
@MrClownballs it doesnt matter what a guitar/bass cost's aslong as it works for you , and your wrong the cheapest is the ibanez GATK20 , at £175 , if the bass works for him it doesnt matter , i play punk/rock and i prefer the jazz bass to the precision because it works for me
@MrClownballs if he had used a pick would it have really mattered ? everyone has their own unique playing style , it doesnt make you a bad person or a terrible player if you use a pic
Hey, thanks for the review; well done. I have a 5-string and want an affordable 4-string as a second bass. This looks like a good choice for me since I already like the Ibanez neck. Good job on your part. Cheers.
I played the bass battle from scott pilgrim and since that point ive been skipping class to get to the band room and play my friends ibanez SR300 bass guitar and he said he would sell it to me for $150 and from what ive seen online, its pretty good on the price.. I love the feel of the bass. thanks for the advice!
Im no an expert on basses but the difference in range is too severe between strings unless your playing solo, try putting this bass into an amateur mix and it hurts to enclose the frequency range. Have read it may be the pickups (and unplugged doesn't sound like a problem with strings which I've changed a few times between different brands). continued...
@vadertuber Apart from that I am shocked by how amazing it sounds for a budget bass, has a real growl or with the tone down very tight with an electronic bass smoothness, just a shame you can be limited to one or two strings sometimes to not conflict with electric over top.
I was learning drums but i didnt really like it but i wanna learn bass is it hard, like how long does it usally take to pick it up? and do u need a speacial amp for a bass??
@KISSArmyAliveIII bass wasn't too hard for me to pick up at all but I'm very musically inclined, I play piano, trumpet, bass and guitar. You also need a bass amp, a regular guitar amp doesn't have the size or power to push out the low bass frequencies
@KISSArmyAliveIII I'm still learning, but yeah, bass is easier to learn than guitar in my opinion. I prefer bass. Also, Nirvana has some easy to learn songs

Not bad but a few tips: Think about what's in the video shot. Do you really want to have your unmade bed going out to the world? You've got a coat hanging in front of the camera in the first shot... or was that to try and block the window glare? Later you've got a black garage bag on the floor to the right. If things go bad at the end just edit it out. Don't do a video when you're rushed and having a bad day and then tell us about it. Do it when you have time. Good sound levels.
@llazy1 I don't care about my unmade bed. I'm lazy, hence the coat hanging off the bed. Also the bag filled with clothes on the floor, whatever. I have to move between 2 houses almost every other day so i just stopped caring
I tried out an "iron pewter" one- which is the new word for black I guess- a week ago and thought it was pretty good for only $300. The blue one looks way better though, love the neck too it was very easy to play.
I want to start playing the bass so i'm looking for a decent one that i can use for a long time.I want a bass with a thin neck and really playable...Can you name another Ibanez with quality and price as good as this one? Thanks in advance :)
Nice sounding bass. I was considering it myself, and this vid was real helpful! On a side note, if you liked that beetles song (come together I believe it was called) you might like the bass line to give it away by the red hot chili peppers.
@GimmeDatSheep it gives it more of a funky sound compared to the boring tone made by the finger setting, when you actually slap with the slap setting it sounds amazing
Be honest, do you like the sparkly? I'm looking to buy a bass for my boyfriend as a special present,, neither really here nor there but yours is the first look i've had at the finish of this bass that shows how immensely sparkly it is! obviously you're happy with it but if you'd known how sparkly it was, and say hypothetically you were expected to perform with it in small groups regular would you be so content with.. well is it just too sparkly to be cool? Really slick review anyway, thanks!

@llazy1 I don't care about my unmade bed. I'm lazy, hence the coat hanging off the bed. Also the bag filled with clothes on the floor, whatever. I have to move between 2 houses almost every other day so i just stopped caring

About how long does the battery last for the EQ, or have you not had to change it yet?

@DEFCONairsoft I played drums a little in the past, now I focus on guitar, bass and trumpet. I gave up the piano after 8 years

@IhateSatan333 You were exhausted, had to go to work in about 20 minutes, and were having a bad day. It was meant to be a pithy joke...

Thanks in advance :)
mrIamherenow 1 year ago
Is it a darker shade of blue in person? Or is it just the lighting that makes it seem dark?
connordor 1 year ago
@connordor on my computer it looks accurate, I can't speak for the color of your monitor though
IhateSatan333 1 year ago
Nice review!
You have the blue sparkle correct?
connordor 1 year ago
@connordor yes I do

Nice sounding bass. I was considering it myself, and this vid was real helpful! On a side note, if you liked that beetles song (come together I believe it was called) you might like the bass line to give it away by the red hot chili peppers.

@BehemothOrion666 I don't, the name was from a song by Lemon Demon, I made it when I was 12/13

THAT SLAP KNOB IS AWESOME!
hondaking230 1 year ago
so the slap knob makes it sound like slap without actually slapping?
GimmeDatSheep 1 year ago

Really slick review anyway, thanks!
h0llytr0n 1 year ago
@h0llytr0n I like how it draws more attention to the color, yes its better than a flat blue. I was just surprised by it, you should get it for him
