Why did they use cars as ambulances back in the 1970's and earlier, why not use vans like they do now. They had to be cheaper then using a Caddy, plus they are much bigger. And since they used cars, why did they use Caddys, why not a Chevy, they were 1/2 the price before the conversion.
I think you're running that Super Chief with it's brake on. Shouldn't it coast longer? Also I heard a scraping noise at the end. Brake might be stuck and worn out. B&M can help you fix it. They're still making them in California USA.
You might want to get that Super Chief looked at... I think there might be something inside slowing down the rotor - from what the sound at the end tells me, maybe a small pebble. Either way, the winddown is way too fast.
im on a fire dept in VERMONT and we have the same car but is set up like the goastbusters car send me an email i can reach you at and ill show u some pictures
In some ways the Q does sound better and has a cool look, but the Superchief actually produces between 2-3 more decibels and has a more multi-directional sound when heard from a 1/2 mile away. It also gives the vehicle a feel good retro look, kinda like a mini rocket, rather than the Q which is down right beautiful, but looks like a chrome plated water pump on a push bumper! I own one of each and am proud with both of them.
I think that sounds just like the ambulance sirens on "Adam-12". And for years I thought it was some doofus Foley editor that came up with that sound. I wonder what it sounds like full blast?
looks like the funeral home car,.. LOL but with lights

I got the siren from Kevin at B&M. The brake is metal to metal and yes, I had it on.

San Juan EMS has decided to replace their modern ambulances with older hearse style ambulances which use more gas.

Unions in the 1970's came and killed the Cadillac ambulance where I'm from. Shame, one way or another you'll end up in a Cadillac.

Wkat , the Super Cheif wound up sounds loud and proud but it won't put a Q to shame .

With all lights and the superchief powered up, how many amps does it draw?
TheLSK 5 years ago
With the B&M wound out it's enough to stop the beacons, not the alternating flashers and the windshield wipers certainly won't function...LOL
