@lupul10 It varies between 1 and 6. It's the gear indicator. To the right is the shift speed setting. The small triangle alert symbol indicates a check control message (most likely "Fuel reserve!" seeing he's almost out of gas). Odometer and trip odometer are at the bottom.

The notification screen above can show board computer information, including MPG. You can cycle through figures using the BC button on the indicator stalk. During the video, it's showing fuel range (~66 km to empty).

the "official" time of 4.7 is bmw's quote of what the car does 0-60. Manufacturers are notoriously known for underrating there 0 to 60 times, especially bmw, mercedes, and porsche. Not really sure why.

they are not just underrating their 0 to 60 time, they are also underrating their top speed. This is done, so that customers dont get dissappointed, when they check the times on a normal road, which may have a slope, also a car loses hps over the years, which will decrease the acceleration, and top speed. at the beginning, a mercedes may have 6 hps more than stated. but i like it this way more than the other way around

take in mind, all of you guys, that the M5 and M6 have lots of setups, there is even a button that unlocks all 500hp of the car, without it its just 400 and something. theres a launch control setup, shifting setup, and what not, so that would make some difference i believe.

It is Launch control. Let me prove it from what I can see.

To use Launch control you must turn off the DSC (Traction control) as displayed on the dash board by the "yellow circle". Due to this you can enable the highest gear change Setting which is 6, this is displayed in the form of "6 bars" next to the gear number as displayed. From what I experienced inside an E60 M5, the engine revs at high Rpm speeds but at low gears thus making the car more faster and responsive.

in launch control, the car shifts by itself the first few gears or so. u can hear the paddles being used. also, the needle drops slightly from 4000 rpm meaning the driver was feathering the pedal and not depressing it all the way like in the real launching process

I don't think its actual launch control...Launch control automatically shifts through the first few gears at the very least, so it would never actually have a chance of hitting the rev limiter. Second, with launch control, traction control settings are already set to M Dynamic, which optimizes wheelspin for the quickest launch. Lastly, launch control holds RPM at 4K, in this one, it is more or less blipped around 4K, not held. Therefore I think this was a manual launch.

no he didn't hit the limiter, the SMG shifts and continues to apply throttle. What you see is the clutch slip.. The car is still accelerating, just look at the speedometer increasing. It doesn't do it in higher gears.
