  • Yes! this is Nigeria, a country where there is absolute disregard for human right and no rule of law. A man who simply performed his responsibility following a collective order from the town planners is treated like a common criminal. That is a problem that resulted from a mistake and not intentional. Nigeria may have to go through another 50-100 years before sanity and true sense of the rule of law can be fully understood. For now, it is a jungle! The governor should publicly apologize to major.

  • @EvangIsaac

you need help seriously!!! the so called major couldn't even respond when asked who Authorized him to demolish peoples houses.. oshiomole has nothing to apologize to, he acted accordingly by charging him and arresting him. if a documentary where to arise of careless destructions without due reasons (blockage of pipes, sewers, canals) you idiots would still be here making noise... so well done governor!! hope that idiot rots in jail if he can't say who gave him that authorization

  • This is the simple reason why the average Nigerian wants to become rich. The reason is the crude, timid, and callous attitude the governor just displayed before the world, oppressing the poor and the helpless. This is not only barbaric but a complete violation of civil right. Major Loye does not have any personal animosity against owie and ogbemudia. He was a public servant who was merely carrying out his official responsibility in accordance with the rules and regulations of the town planners.

  • Those buildings were marked for demolition by the town planners and so the major only affected his own part by ordering the demolition. The governor has no right what so ever to order the immediate arrest of the major. If the governor was a civilized human being, he could have handled it intelligently by inviting the third party to office and thereby resolving it amicably. His actions portray someone who has never lived outside his jungle.

  • @EvangelistIsaac

i just read the governor code for edo state, and in summary it says the executive branch can arrest upon suspicion of any persons that potentially is involved with elicit acts.. go read for yourself...

i bet you woudn't say this if it were boko haram suspects being arrested..

i will give u an advice come to the usa, collect and destroy some set of buildings and watch of your ass doesn't get shot as a black man...even with prove of authorization

  • That Nigga know he wrong for tearing up people's shit! Oshiomhole is right!

  • oshiomole is smart but negatively smart. first of all, who appointed the major? the place was already marked for destruction. why blame the major for carrying out orders. it's a pity that edo people are so naive. oshiomole is a crook like any other politician. virtually everyone in the ACN were all former members of the PDP. let's vote this government out by 2012.

  • Oshiomhole is a complete bush man. This man despite his achievemnts is very uncivilised and crude. He needs to go and see some civilization

  • @gilbertenenajor11 THE GOVERNOR IS RIGHT TO ACTED THAT WAY. EDO STATE NEEDS IRON FIST LEADER TO GET THINGS DONE,

  • This video has not showed any gross abuse of power and should not be portrayed as one. It rather shows that there is a man acting alone and destroying goverment good intent.

  • Clearly from most of the responses posted here, it suffice to say that d true problem of Edo/Nigeria lies not on leaders but on d people. A people witout a vision of what they want ought not complain wen saddled wit visionless leaders. Oshiomole has potrayed himself as a utilitarian leader ready to act harshly and crudely in other to break the myth of the 'untouchables', Afterall GEJ who is doing everything by d book has failed to achieve any progress thus far. Enough of this perfidious attacks

  • I can see that Gov. Oshiomhole concerned & sensitive towards Edo people but I have some misgiving about the manner in which he dealt with this issue. Oshiomhole acted very emotionally. He was visibly angry & that's not how a public servant should act. He had already made up his mind b4 he arrived. He didn't to want hear the Major's version. Major had said the Town planners had marked the property out. It's not Major's function to decide otherwise, take contrary action or exercise discretion.

  • So...where is a gross abuse of power being displayed here? The title and you peoples' comments do not make sense. A worker under Oshiomhole did something wrong and was arrested. Where is inhumane act?

  • Welcome to headquarters of madness, where abuse of power is a way of showing 'relevance'.

A place where power to destroy is maximized to the fullest, but never the common sense to build..

Nigeria, with rotten foundation can never hold anything good!

  • This guy's arrest was ordered because he demolished houses without authorization. How he was arrested is not Oshiomole's business. He was asked, 'who authorized you to demolish the houses' and he was reminded of where he was authorized to go to.

It serves him right. If anybody had done this to El Rufai when he was beginning to grow wings in FCT plenty of innocent people's houses would have been saved and He wouldn't have been as Illegally rich and powerful as he is today. . .

  • I think whomever posted this video, must have watched it too. So why this false headline.Gross misconduct, how?Major loye was arrested,it doesn't mean he was jailed without trial and kept in police custody too long against his fundamental human right. So please the law is not a respecter of any man.And lets stop been sentimental along party line and let us uphold justice instead.

  • even if the man was told to be arrested, all these stupid policemen would have done it better. It is either they lead him to the truck, or handcuff him (since that is what Nigerian policemen know how to do best) and lead him clamly to the truck; but no, they must show that they are doing a big job.

I did trust this Adams guy, but from few things i have heard about him (which i am still researching on to make sure they are true), i have my reservations. I like the way the situation was handled.

  • Rubbish,,, the revolution will still come 1 day

  • oshiomole, acted on the spot albeit harsh, but he had to prove a point that the state is above any individual........................

  • this is really sad.whatever we do we should first imagine if i were to be the one being treated this way how will i feel.THE GOV SHOULD APOLOGIZE AND ADMIT HE OVER REACTEDSIMPLE.

  • this oshiomole nawa o

  • ROUGH JUSTICE ! MY DEAR DEAR NIGERIA !

  • For those that are siding this man, over the governors act. am pretty sure you are related to this man or you benefited from his evil act.

  • Clearly from d video Major Loye had not been given any right or instruction to demolish the building,he could not defend himself properly..saying no one told him to stop!!"WHO TOLD HIM TO START IN THE 1ST PLACE".Clearly guilty.

However, Oshiomole over-reacted the man could have been sacked on the spot, rather than arrested, to be arrested you need to have enough evidence and a court order.this was clearly too much.It could be d Governor s trying 2 portray a iron hand on tngs or he just senseles

  • We should not be sentimental. The Benin Moat is a world heritage site and should not be blocked by illegal developers, however, Major Loye's actions were taken without human face.

  • Gov's intentions genuine! Reclaim the moat, deflood the city, clear illegal buildings on moat. Major Loye's intentions unclear. Demolish anything close to the moat which is only defined by him. Perhaps he had other agenda!

  • Gov's intentions genuine! Reclaim the moat, deflood the city, clear illegal buildings on moat. Major Loye's intentions unclear. Demolish anything close to the moat which is only defined by him. Perhaps he had other agenda!

  • People in the state were already tired of the Major (rtd) for his overbearing influence. I was at the Oba market in the state capital when the Governor scolded him for being too overbearing. Perhaps he invited this on himself. even the Governor listens to the people, but he acts as if he is above the law!

  • The case is simple, make the state houses of assembly independent and the governors will behave, they feel they have too much power, imagine the rubbish,a rtd Major? ie to say a veteran of the Fed.Republic of Nigeria. haaa in short Africa is still a village.

  • Did he realized the major in question has a family? Does he care how the man's wife and children wouldl feel watching their father being treated like a common criminal in public? Why did Gov. Oshiomole employed him in the first place if he thinks he is not qualified.I guessed the man's offence was that ogbemudia and senator owie's property were involved this time hence the over reaction from the uncultured governor.

  • @joystar636,we should come together as citizens of Edo to show this deceitful, uncultured and uncivilized man called Adams Oshiomole the way out.He has embarrassed us as Edo state citizens.Adams Oshiomole,is not the messiah the state need,he will compound the problem of the state.Let's encourage our people to vote him out.

  • I am not surprised at all, that is the real Adams Oshiomole I know. This was a man that did not promote anybody under him in his 8years as the head of Nigerian labour congress in labour house.A man who impregnated an undergraduate of UNIBEN few months after the wife's death.

  • I am happy this is happening at least for others to know the beast called Adams Aliu Oshiomole.I warned on facebook .But note this down it only the begining ,he will do worst things.Thank God he could n't pretend on this ocassion,he showed his true character.I am ashamed to call this crude, uncivilized and undemocratic man my governor.

He employed this "unqualified"man in the first place.

  • Do you think building a house is like buying peanuts? The governor had the right to arrest this guy because he did not have the lawful authority to demolish those properties. He must answer to the law and he should show us who gave him the authority to destroy that particular property, if he can show that he was instructed by the town planning to destroy that building he will be vindicated Nigerian will must follow due process and the governor was right in ordering his arrest

  • This is wrong...if at all, the police shouldn't have put him in the back of a Track. Adams have destroy his respect from me....All Edo state want now is Security and to stop Inhuman(Corruption) Well, i am so, so disappointed at Adams Oshiomhole

  • WTH??!!! this is just wronggg!! idc if he wasnt authorised and bullshit! you dont humiliate some1 like that....its just embarrassing and disgraceful! nahh Adams whteva he is called shud be punished for this misconduct! shikena

  • wat a disgrace to nigerian politics, so oshiomole can be this inhuman? and I voted for him....

  • ugly looking people, why is that beast standing beside the other monkey !!

  • Organized drama!

  • It is Just That Most Policemen in Nigeria is ignorant of the law, unnecessarily, aggressive when doing almost anything including making an arrest , and are hopelessly overzealous especially when acting on behalf of a "big Man"..i went through something similar in d hands of a useless House of Rep Member few years ago,Oshiomole only ordered his arrest at "the supposed scene" of the crime".it remains to be seen if the man is innocent or not..I believe the vile should be directed to to the Policemen

  • I live in this state, when proper investigation was carried out by an independent team if the task force chairman adhered to laid down procedure. He was found to have been correct. The governor wants a scapegoat to evade his unpopularity in the state. This is a man who claims to uphold the rule of law treating a citizen not charged with any criminal conduct like a criminal. HE IS A DISGRACE. I thought military regime was over.

  • this is so unfair

  • well done, governor

  • @joystar636 well said , the governor needs to start looking at what is important to his people rather than carrying out jungle justice on the streets of Edo State- he his no better than the kidnappers

  • A STATE WHERE ARMED ROBBERY N KIDNAPPING IS D ORDER OF D DAY, ISN'T IT PUZZLING THAT D GOV. IS BUSY DEMOLISHING PROPERTIES OF HIS CITIZENS INSTEAD OF ENSURING THEIR SECURITY. THERE VE BEEN COUNTLESS CASES OF ARBITRARY DEMOLITION OF PROPERTIES BUT IT ONLY GETS D GOVERNOR'S ATTENTION WHEN D SAID PROPERTIES ARE THAT OF HIS CRONIES. WHAT A SHAME!!! A STATE WHERE PEOPLE ARE LOCKED INDOORS BY 6PM AND HAVE THEIR WAKE-KEEPING CEREMONIES IN THE AFTERNOON!!!

  • @joystar636 You see the prob you Nigerians have if Government do not do you people will talk now his doing is a prob demolish most take place in order to repair in Nigeria today there's a lot of houses build in a wrong position that needed to be demolish..

  • @joystar636 as you can see in the video, he's punishing someone for arbitrarily demolishing a building...

  • The governor is out of order and power drunk, the likes of him are runing Nigeria.... everyman with little power feels he can bully anyone, what he did can only happen in Edo State- shame on the governor , he should know better

  • @ab66able What hell do you mean?, the man deserve what he got Nigerians you people have big prob because the guy is a big guy he shouldt be treated that way rite but if his a common man he can be treated that way and it will be ok right? that what africa china call poor man way theif maggi dem go show him face for crime fighter but big man way thief money we no dey see him face for crime fighter now way dis big man show we dey kpa ariwo shame to you and others way dey talk rubish example.

  • bros is not dat d guy is a big guy it was d maner in wish d state govt acted wat he did was to try & quach the tension betwen him & pdp leaders in d stat. there are approprate measure he could hav dealt wit d issue. more ova lotz of people houses has been distroy and their lively hood. b4 a house is built in Edo state the govt always give them seal of ownership how come dey approving this wen dey no it's a state land. Am so disapointed at Adam we voted u to build d state not distroy it

  • 50kg bag of cement cost as much as N2400, that is enough reason why house demolition should not be carried out.

It seems only the poor man properties are being destroyed without any resistance. This is a gross human right violation. Access to shelter is a human right issue, so how many council houses is being built in Edo State to house people in need of shelter!

  • 50kg bag of cement cost as much as N2400, that is enough reason why house demolition should not be carried out.

  • Mr Governor sir, you may have good intentions but honestly you went too far on this. I belived the man was trying to do his job without treating some as sacred cows beside he said the property was marked for demolition by the Town planners, maybe or lets asume he made a mistake by not getting your final approval before carying out the action then i think you should have sacked him or charged him with some sense of respect. For a gov officia to be maltreated like a common criminal is uncalled 4

  • @900900900my your entire family is a fool including your late dad and prostitute mom. you lack sense of reasoning you coward who dont even know what is human right. • @andybest05 YOU ARE A FOOL, YOU ARE AMONG OF PDP PEOPLE THAT WANT TO CAUSE CONFUSION IN OSHIOMOHOLE GOVERNMENT, WHEN PDP WAS IN GOVERNMENT IN EDO STATE THE YOU PEOPLE KNOW WHAT IS CONSTUCTION.

  • Apparently the owner of this channel lacks a bit of sense and is part of the people wanting backwardness of Nigeria. So because justice is done, it is an abuse of power? a man destroys poor peoples homes and is convicted and you give it that name.. I doubt you have any idea about what you are saying and encourage you to change the name

  • @ayodejitrinityable bros there is non justice done hear many houses has been distroy in Edo state illegally without govt his intervention just becos it's Ogbemudia house the news is every where what about those house of odnary people that has been distroy illegally. any way was dat bob izua i just saw with the govt if yes shame on oshiomhole

  • @ayodejitrinityable the owner of the channel is a big fool. simple

  • Your write up is not objective. I heard the gov ask the guy for his authority to demolish the property, he couldnt produce one. so who is the oppressor now.

  • what else do you expect when you put a square peg in a round hole. Didn't the Gov know that the man is not a town planner or professional in that field before enlisting him as a member of that task force, and the chairman for that matter? This should serve as a lesson for other Govs.

  • If indeed he was acting based on instruction or carrying out his duties as you said, why could he not be firm and direct when the governor asked why the house was demolished?
