@LittoJay @enn463 this will do the trick. open Activity window (Option-Command-A) then locate the link for the video you want to download. usually has the biggest size. while holding the Option key, double-click the link. and the download will start. Enjoy!

@yosoyjosue sorry i dunno. option/alt + double-clicking the link (for this video its the 10.1mb) should do it. make sure its not the command key and this only works for safari. if i heard anything, i'll be sure to let u know ;)

@yosoyjosue this happened to me too, but it is just that you are not clicking on the right file... make sure it is the biggest file there (not the one with the web address of the video) and control/alt/double click it... should download as a .flv file...

Things have changed slightly since this video was originally posted. Everything mentioned here is correct with one exception: HOLD DOWN THE OPTION KEY when you double click the (largest) file in the Activity window. Safari will then download the video instead of playing it in a new window.

@Bittenxoxo click on the arrow to the left of the name of the file and you will get a drop down of the files and then look for the large file as explained.

this does not work...I have mac 10.6.8 and Safari 5.1.1...whenever I double click on the largest file it simply opens another Safari window {does not look like a YouTube page} and starts to play the video in a very small window and does not save it in the download folder at all...I seen several videos on youtube that says this is how to do it...might work for you but not on my system...maybe I have a wrong setting someplace...

this doesnt work now. youtube did some changes to the url for their video. when you click the link from activity window it'll just open the video on new safari window.

@xriztof i just tried it, apparently, you gotta download it twice in a sense. You find the biggest file, and then you click on it and it'll be like...10.7 out of 15.4 mb something like that, and then you wait for it to finish. then once it's done. find that same file and click on it again and it'll start downloading into your downloads folder.
