My Mum uploaded this. Apparantly there are laws in Malta, maybe Gozo too, telling people not to feed them. A lot ignore this law.
At the gardens just outside Mdina, at Rabat there are strays aplenty. I once stood there on a sunny February afternoon smoking a cigarette amongst about twenty of them, happier than I had been in ages.
Exactly where in Valletta did you find them? Upper Barrakka or Lower? I heard the boat, so it's near the Grand Harbour, not necessarily the Marsamxett.
The Arabs say that barrakka means " blessing", hence " garden".
Good news ! I'm relieved. When I was in Greece I met a lot of strays. I even adopted one that I found alone on a beach. Sacha now lives with me and with my other cat Marco in Paris. Unfortunately the situation for stray cats and dogs in Greece is quite bad : many animals are abused or poisoned. Very sad and revolting.
Sorry to hear about the stray situation in Greece. It is not like that in Malta, there are strays but the locals DO care for the them. Infact I've seen CAT CAFE/CANTEENS(signposted) on pieces of common land where people can go and put food out for them. Unfortunately not everyone cares!
No need to worry.I kept track and they were adopted as the locals always look after strays and find homes for the kittens. I see it every year.But you'll always find the odd stray which never starve because the people there are generous.

@marcosacha
Obviously the E.U postures about being universally humanitarian is false and one dimensional.

Thanks for the info. What happened next ? Did local people adopt them ?
I'm so worried about them !

I hope you helped those sweet kittens find a loving home and did not just leave them there at such a fragile age !

Thanks for your comment. Kittens too young to separate from mother, but we kept her well fed and looked after whilst we were there.
