Ive read some books about him but they can be hard to understand due to the unfamiliar terms,is it fair to say his teachings are similar to Nisargadatta maharaj or Jiddu krishnamurti?
@mrbrianmoran It's probably a bit late now, but Ramana Maharshi's teachings and Nisargadatta Maharaj's teachings compliment each other well. Both of these teachers taught at the same "level" of truth, although their teaching styles were different.
On occasion RM would send one of his students/visitors to learn from NM if the student just wasn't getting the teachings!

Ramana Maharshi pretty much reigns supreme in all categories:
1) As a bhakta, he was the supreme devotee of Arunachala
2) As a yogi, preeminent yogis of the day like Kavyakantha, Kapali, and even Yogananda admitted he was in perpetually nirvikalpa sahaja state (or savikalpa, depending on ontological perspective)
3) As karma yogi, he was ever dispassionate, equal to all, always doing disinterested work, without thought of fruit.

Without my realizing it, my doubts vanished, my egos got pulverized; my mind became silent, filled with everlasting happiness, without any desire to seek anything worldly. It must be experienced. I got my answer.

The silence had a positive vibe, quelling my bloated ego that was out to challenge Him. Ive read some books about him but they can be hard to understand due to the unfamiliar terms,is it fair to say his teachings are similar to Nisargadatta maharaj or Jiddu krishnamurti?

@mrbrianmoran It's probably a bit late now, but Ramana Maharshi's teachings and Nisargadatta Maharaj's teachings compliment each other well. Both of these teachers taught at the same "level" of truth, although their teaching styles were different.
On occasion RM would send one of his students/visitors to learn from NM if the student just wasn't getting the teachings!

Ramana Maharshi pretty much reigns supreme in all categories:
1) As a bhakta, he was the supreme devotee of Arunachala
2) As a yogi, preeminent yogis of the day like Kavyakantha, Kapali, and even Yogananda admitted he was in perpetually nirvikalpa sahaja state (or savikalpa, depending on ontological perspective)
3) As karma yogi, he was ever dispassionate, equal to all, always doing disinterested work, without thought of fruit.
4) As jnani - well, no need to defend him there.

@gingermavy: He never claimed or proclaimed as one. In fact, He spoke through his silence. I was a rebel and was a doubting Thomas, until the day I visited his Ashram. Without my realizing it, my doubts vanished, my egos got pulverized; my mind became silent, filled with everlasting happiness, without any desire to seek anything worldly. It must be experienced. I got my answer.

@jhgosnell I think it has to do with the power of silence that vibrates around the Ashram and the temple of Arunachala. The silence had a positive vibe, quelling my bloated ego that was out to challenge Him. I laid down my arm without even realizing I did and simply prostrated in front of Him, tears flowing uncontrollably. I left, with my mind calm and doubts gone.

@gingermavy . There must have been some reason for your opinion. Normally one comes to such opinions when making a comparison. I heard many speakers who mastered the scriptures on advaita. They all quote Ramana's teachings extensively. They appreciate his greatness in simplyfying the voluminous teachings of vedas in to a few lines brought out from his own wxperience. I think only those who reached his state only could understand him better. It would have been interesting if you had elaborated
