Rats are like the perfect combination of a dog and a cat. They are friendly, playful and affectionate like a dog, and they are nimble, curious and clean like a cat. And they come in a handy dandy pocket size! (though I'd be pretty happy to have a giant cat sized rat to snuggle with at night lol)

Anyway they are so cute and funny, my baby rats are always suspicious of things just like this, sticking their heads out before coming out of their cage.

That's a lot of big rats! I'm always amazed at how big the males can get. My Socrates is pretty big, he likes to chase the cats. My girls are still pretty tiny (they're only a couple months old). Since moving out, these are the first rats I've been able to let loose in my rooms without my mom yelling at me. xD

disturbed i agree with u but mine squirms to much and there is no possible way and my mom will see if there is a grooming place because where we take our dog also has a grooming place for raccoons and i no indiana is a weird place

You can do it at home with nail clippers or cat clippers. You'll need someone to hold the rat while you clip the tip of each nail.

Your cages look so colourful on the inside. My cage has some old jeans, and they tear them to shreds! How do you keep the fleece or towels on the bottom to stay there? Mine keep putting it in a clump and the urinating it! Its ratty art!

Mine do that too. If they have fun doing it then I'm happy too. lol I take pics right after cage cleaning so it looks nice in videos.

Unfortunately, they don't live too long. Average lifespan is 2 to 2.5 years. Sometimes you'll get really lucky and have them reach 3+ years.

Rats are very social and really do need to live in same sex pairs for a happy and healthy life. Tell mom, you need to get at least two!!

omg do all rats get that big i can't wait!!! they are soo loving! my rat reese got sick after the babies were born pneumonia!! but we got her all fixed up at the vet good as new, better! i can't wait till mine get this playful... i love them they ARE the coolest pets ever ! they steal your affection!!! and food. lol... happy days

Hi! I wish they were all litter trained but they aren't. Most of them are, but male rats will still mark where they go.

I had a male rat named David who was litter trained. He'd actually get out of his cage and run into the bathroom to use the litter pan. But then, David was unusually intelligent. He actually taught himself to say "I'm home!"
