  • Do you think you could do a demo of the gretsch through the fender?

  • Hey what was your tuning for this?

  • Great tones!!

  • Niiiiice!

  • Great playing!!

  • Very good amp!!!

  • say is that a tonemaster?!

  • Hello,

Im looking into purchasing a Magnatone 280 all original for about 900. Fair price?

  • what tuning are you using?

  • great rig and sound, thanks for posting

  • yea the new one's are made in china, and they're cheap. The one i've got is a pre fender made in Korea and its actually pretty nice

  • I just bought the gretsch and it is made cheap with a capital C. I just ordered new tuners for mine because the ones that come with it are junk.. Diecast nut and cheesey bridge as well. the pickup is weak but works ok pumped up with a compressor sistainer. Plastic fretboard. they could have done a lot better for the money.you may have $35 in parts total. very disapointed. Mike Elzey

  • @bluesmann8 Well, I think you might have just successfully talked me out of buying one of the new- post Fender Gretsch lap steels. The reviews are just too mixed. Unfortunately, there's just little else to buy - save for Eastwood, which has some shaky reviews of its own-at that price point.

  • @hammill444 check out the airline for about the same price.. its got a regular guitar hardtail type bridge. humbucking pickup and the tuners look to be shallers.the gretsch plugged direct in to a tube or solid state amp is weak. the tuners like i said are bad. there's a 1/4" of play between up and down.. i put a set of WD tuners on mine and that fixed the tuning problems.. the body is made of luan cheap cheap cheap! think dan electro/silvertone

  • @bluesmann8 Thanks for the response. I have checked out the Eastwood Airline as well. Not as many reviews, but from those I contacted, the tuners are every bit as shaky--- in fact, in several cases the plastic knobs cracked right off. Everyone I talk to says to go for a " vintage" one on ebay. However, given I can't get my hands on it, I don't have any reason to suspect they'd be any different tuning wise. Perhaps a better pickup-- but just as frustrating otherwise. Hard to make any choice...

  • @hammill444 from my searches, there's no inbetween models.

so its either get a cheap one and fix it here and there or go with something in the 800 on up range. vintage ones are expensive too. If i had it to do over again , i'd get the airline and fix it up. WD has a good set of tuners for about 35 bucks. you can get a used compressor on ebay for about the same. if its your main instrument, buy a real good one. cry once and be done with it.

  • that sounds so awesome dude. should whip up some mp3's

  • Very sweet tone. I play a little lapsteel myself. FF

  • Man that sounds sweet

  • i have the same steel!

  • does it need to be plugged in to hear it? how is it acousticcaly?

  • nice boss RE-20 space echo

  • what tuning do you use?

  • Rock on. Post more lap steel stuff, please. I'm drooling over one of those Gretsches. Thanks for the inspiration and nice playing!!!

  • Great job! Be blessed:)

  • He does not mention the pedals which are an important part of the sound. There's a compressor pedal.

  • Well Shaun you've cost me a lot of money here. Ordered a 5120 and one of these things for the hell of it. Hope I can get it to sound half as good as you do. Happy New Year. Nice posts.

  • great sound , great plaing . How tunning did you use ?

  • great playing and sound! what tuning are you using? thanks

  • Is that the 300 dollar lap steel from gretsch.

  • yea why would you need anymore then 3 chords?

  • @rockabillyshaun, but if you know every key in major and minor then thats only 24 chords... heavens no how can one man play with only 24 chords?!?!?!?!

good job now I gotta go get me one of these lap steels... you damned good salesman you!

  • Theturdreich12; that must be 3 more chords than you know. Being a bitter, wanna-be musician posting negative comments on YouTube seems to be a great creative outlet for you. Everybody has to be talented at something. Good luck with that... Strange for such a genius that you're so unpopular but I'm sure Jimi Hendrix had the same problems...

  • cool down dad

  • @theturdreich12 quality not quantity.

  • Love your posts, going to buy a Gretsch at the weekend!

  • how many guitars has this bloke got ?

  • Hey Very Cool!

I heard people telling that those Gretsch lap steels were just crap and not in tune... Cool playing!

    Congrats From Paris France!
