  • Anyone want to give me an H1... ?

  • It is simple to convert a crappy engine like the H1 6.5 IDI NA.

I think you can just put oil in the tank and start the engine, it runs not perfectly but with no problems.

Try with a little common rail turbocharged engine....like the Smart 800CDI one, or a FIAT 1.3 Multijet.

A European engine, with high specific output, not a crappy american engine.

    You can do it?

    Cheers from italy.

  • @dadoVRC You bet, we convert diesel Mercedes and Volkswagen engines all the time. We just converted a 2003 VW Jetta and a 2006 as well. We also sell our kits all over the world and have many customers over in Europe.

  • You can keep it. I rather have MFI, Even if it means a 2 1/2!!!

  • To bad running vegi oil absolutely destroys your fuel system.

    Injector pump, $1000

    Injectors, $2000

    Paying extra for diesel, Priceless.

  • @gtiapr3 I'm sorry you had a bad experience running vegetable oil, sounds like you didn't properly filter your veggie oil or you had a system on your rig that didn't properly heat your oil. We have hundreds of vehicles we've converted over the years with half a million miles on veggie or more. Veggie doesn't hurt an engine, poor filtering does.

  • Those SUV haters would not bother you if you put on the "runs on waste veggie oil" sticker on your SUV vehicle. Besides time has come for car to go green.

  • I want to do a duramax swap in a jeep with rockwell axles and 49in iroks!!!

  • Dude...of course H1's had diesel, the problem was that the 6.5l only made like 165HP, and the new 6.6l duramax makes closer to 300+HP. that's why this is significant. plus you can make biodiesel in your garage (with no engine conversion at all) and it's gonna be like $0.70 a gallon. nice!! :)

  • Yeah, the Duramax engine is just a really great engine. Some people prefer it over the stock engine. The nice thing about SVO vs Biodiesel is there is no on going cost with every gallon of fuel you burn. Just filter the vegetable oil and you're done with SVO. With biodiesel you have to chemically modify each gallon you're going to burn, that's time consuming, and more costly. But some people prefer Biodiesel, we've chosen to go the SVO rout.

  • so what gas milage do you get with the h1 when running veggie oil?

  • What ever gas mileage you would normally get on diesel, you will get running veggie, sometimes slightly more.

  • sweet, when I get my h1 someday, I will install it, btw, how much is it for a 40 gallon full install on a H1 including install?

  • We offer a variety of systems to meet every possible configuration you might want. All of our pricing are listed there. The price will depend on what kind of system you choose to go with. Feel free to give us a call if you would like a quote or check out your systems available on our website :)

  • @GoldenFuelSystems would these SVO's work on a 6.6l? Alpha model

  • @FLIGHTSIMEXTREME Absolutely, we've converted that engine many times. Feel free to give us a call if you have any other questions.

  • @dereileak Not true, you get 10% less. Learn how to make your own biodiesel instead.

  • @polylingue With biodiesel you've got an ongoing cost of making every gallon of fuel you burn for the rest of the life of your vehicle. Not to mention the time involved in the transesterification process and the money you'll spend on the chemical catalysts for the process. With SVO, convert the rig once and then every gallon of fuel you burn after that can be unmodified, doesn't get any simpler than that.

  • what else do you have to out in a diesel to make it run "reliably" besides putting a heater on the fuel tank

  • A completely heated fuel path for the vegetable oil. That includes the veggie fuel tank, the veggie heated fuel pickup, the internally heated veggie fuel filter, the heated veggie fuel lines. By doing that you created a heated fuel path for the veggie to flow unrestricted to your engine. If you'd like to know more information, check out our website :)

  • it's funny, a diesel in a hummer... coming from the army i have never seen a hummer without a gm diesel attached to an allison trans. bio is still way cool though!

  • i live in warm weather year round, i live in hawaii. would i need to be concerned with any modifications with the H1 using veggie? or can i just use veggie on H1 stock?

  • You could def. use a scaled down conversion but there still would need to be some modifications and additions to reliably run waste vegetable oil in your H1. Give us a call and we could give you some more information.

  • you know if our damned government would convert them in the middle east i bet we would save millions in tax dollars. oh but it makes too much sense.

  • There are too many people in control of the oil companys (also have a huge say so in our government), makeing too much money off of them as they are.

  • The engine from the inside of the Hummer sounds like a drum machine...an a effect of the veggie oil?

    Carl

  • Great question... I don't think there's a shot from inside the cab, but to answer your question, no, diesel engines will run quieter on vegetable oil because it is more lubricating than diesel fuel. Most diesel fuel in the USA is having the Sulfur removed to clean up emissions. Sulfur gives diesel it's lubricity. Due to vegetable oils high lubricating properties, when running veggie your fuel becomes an active lubricant, thus helping it run quieter, which is noted by most of our customers.

  • totally cool! i thought it was the other way around.

  • I thought Hummers came with 6.5 Duramax diesels already... am I missing something? Nice conversion though anyway.

  • No, they come with a gasoline engine, that's why this diesel had to be retrofitted. Thanks, we were proud of the veggie conversion.

  • hummers have always came with a 6.5 diesel or 6.2 detroit diesel never gas if it had gas some one converted it to gas

  • hey if your going to talk about h1s then do some research h1 came with gas engines 92-93 94-95 are GM 6.5

and 6.2 diesel normal asperation 96 went turbo never detroit or anything else for that matter 2006 went to duramax and there is no 2005 model

  • I would probably want my car/truck completely bio No petro at all.

  • i dont like hummer- they kinda suck

  • Why would you waste the system on a peice of crap like a hummer? So you get 10 "environmentally friendly" mpg?

  • Hummers don't usually have diesel engines in them, that's the point of this video. This hummer has had it's engine replaced with a more fuel efficient Durramx Diesel engine. It's much more fuel efficient than the stock engine. Plus it's burning a waste product, waste vegetable oil. This hummer is probably creating less pollutants than most cars being driven today.

  • So what's the estimated MPG on this model? And are you still doing Hummer conversions?

  • We didn't actually do the conversion, we had the customer ship the converted hummer over to our shop where we performed our straight vegetable oil conversion. If you're interested in more info give us a call at our shop or check out our website. w w w . goldenfuelsystems . c o m

  • Forgot to answer the first part of your question. Diesel engines in general get far better fuel economy than their gas counterparts. When running on veggie you can expect to the the same fuel economy you would get using diesel fuel, if not slightly better because veggie is more lubricating than diesel fuel.

  • MOST, 99% of Hummers (H1's) have DIESEL engines, there was a run of gas engines in 94, but they sucked so bad, gas was discontinued.

  • It shouldnt be mixed with petroleum Diesel, it ,should be 100% bio.

  • Your right, to be even more environmentally friendly you can use biodiesel for your start up and shutdown. luckily by burning straight vegetable oil you hardly have to use any diesel since it's only used for startup to get the engine up to temperature and during shutdown.

  • And to go further on being more environmentally friendly... choose a proper vehicle for your driving needs. OR buy a Hummer...
