  • what type of bait do you use under those floats, and how deep do you set them? I have a uncle in Buffalo, and he's always asking for me to head out there and fish. The problem is that he recently had a stroke and can't strain himself too much, so I'm looking for a solid fishery we can both enjoy. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh and thanks for releasing that big guy.

  • @Fishslayers51 we use small egg sacks ,minnows and jigs with wax worms.we set the bobbers anywhere from 4 to 7 feet down.

the trout are probably gone till late fall but theres tons of big smallmouth bass that invade the harbor this time of the year

  • @ROADSNAKE90ROADSNAKE Thanks for the help.

  • Are these fish you're catching bred and released into the lake or are they naturally breeding in the lake,

and do you need a license to fish for them. TY.

  • @creamtt the rainbows are not native to lake erie - mostly stocked but there is some natural reproduction.

in ny a fishing license is required

Which reel-rod-line combo are you using for trouts there?

    Thanks

  • @MrAfilao thanks.

we use 6lb test stren line with 6lb fluorocarbon leaders . 8.5 to 11 ft rods and smaller shimano and gander mnt guide series spinning reels

  • def not lake erie, i watched 20 vids from this guy, there mostly all in ny, on lake ontario, get ur lakes right, he wants u to think he catching salmon and browns all the time in erie, nice try buddy, been steelhead fishing for years,

  • is that dunkirk harbor? what time of year was this... i heard during the winter that wooden doc by the electric plant was a good place to go.. i live no to far from here, ive never really fished for these, but id really like to. it would be awesome.. any tips on what to use or anything like that? it would be greatly appreciated.

  • @fakinpwned early april i think . minnows or eggs works good -casting spoons works good too .

i used to tie up my boat to the outlet before they built the fishing platform - great fishing.

the platforms good all winter but its crowded all but the coldest nastiest days

  • what pier is tht and where is it located

    walleye fishings great right now

  • @ROADSNAKE90ROADSNAKE

walleye's not hittin' where im at right now, all we're catching is perch by luna peir.

  • not lake erie hes full of shit

  • @jswears full of shit not

  • Those fish were Flirtin with Disaster.

Great vidio, cool people, song and fish.

  • what was yall using to catch them?

  • @TheDear45 egg sacks that day but we got e'm on minnows and marabou jigs before too

  • then u gotta approve the comments , wat a loser

  • @jswears i got to - too many assholes -you know what i mean ( wink)

  • Cool

  • Have you guys ever tried using little cleo's and cast for steelhead. My dad docks his boat on the chagrin river and during October and November little cleo's catch us alot of steelhead trout.

  • @newsroommen we don't but we see a lot of guys casting cleo's and catching browns & stelhead

  • when will you go pier fishing next?

  • @wikiwikiwias000 - probably next year - we stopped at the pier back in April but it was so cold and windy i didn't last an hour - went to a nearby creek instead

  • Can you help me? where the address , state and city the Great Lake? Thanks Guys.

  • can you tell me which pier are you fishing on?

  • hey could you tell me the name of this location? or something approximately close would be nice too

  • @angryasian16 lake erie

  • great fishing and great video guys

  • is this a michigan or ohio pier? i fish the clinton river for steelys but it gets a small run of fish with a lot of pressure! nice vids, keep up the good work!

  • i live in medford, Oregon and the nicest lake we have for fish like this are Howard Prairie and AppleGate, but we have the Rogue River Nationally Known for awesome Salmon/Steelhead

  • nice guys i live by u dudes, i usually have my dads boat and go fishing

  • awesome! what time of the year was this?

  • @char3795 I think it was April 1st

  • these are some great fish good job.

  • does power bait work good....i wanna know cuz im going trout fishing on friday so i wanna know what to use....plz reply thx

  • @xkillerofthefuture i don't know about all the power baits but I've caught trout in this harbor on the chartreuse power eggs

  • hey

what do u guys used 4 those trout

  • @hiltoverkof egg sacks fished under a float

  • I'm from Cattaraugus, my brother from Cheery Creek.

We are going to the pier MONDAY, OR TUESDAY, 3/ 8-9/2010.

Was thinking Sunset bay bait shop to buy the egg sacks? I don't know of any other bait shops open close to the pier?

Will the trout (if we get any) will have eggs in them, so I can make my own?

It's been a cold winter, so maybe the trout haven't moved in yet?

  • most of the fish we ever caught there didn't have eggs ,mainly 1-3lb jacks and bigger spawned out fish .probably better off stopping at canadaway creek when it warms if you want to get a fish or 2 with eggs.

minnows work better sometimes at the pier if you got a dip net you can get all you want for free there

  • cool. a molly hatchet song. dreams ill never see.

  • what are you using

  • i love your show, and my name is peter i showed my uncle

this episode and he is wondering where

    this fishing spot is.

  • You guys put on a clinc that day. Class act letting a young angler land one after you had already had some action. . .kids remember that stuff Kudos!

  • nice bill you got alot!!!!!!

i wish i could fish with you im still ur biggest fan

  • they're in there nov thru april but the best fishing is in the spring

  • what setup were you using i used a slip bobber with a 8 foot lead and a steelhead jig with a shrimp on the end of it

  • we used fixed floats set at 7' with 3' fluorocarbon leader size 10 hooks and egg sacks but some days the fish prefer a black or white marabou jig tipped with a waxworm or minnow

  • do you ever use single eggs on egg hooks?

  • never tried single eggs there - i use artificial singles in the creeks.some guys do good there on single berkley power eggs

  • i got real salmon eggs. went to the tackle shop two days ago. i got salmon egg hooks but there a little different then octopus hooks

  • to day was my first day for steelhead fishing im 11 i had one but i made a mistake i thought my drag was to tight so i loosend it and i twisted the line to much and it snapped the line right before it got into the net the fish was around 7 pounds.

  • better luck next time out - mike lost a bunch today too

  • bill, i've been wondering any advice if i should use mono or braid for trout? i got a baitcaster so i've beent hinking mono cause of easy pullouts for the backlashes but never know, i always use fluoro leaders now

  • i like mono -i never use more than 6lb test -never tried the braid but it might be alright with a long leader attached

  • i was thinking mono because of easy pullouts for backlashes, but i usually go for nothern and catfish, so around 8lb im guessing, not enough trout around here

  • ohhhhhhhhhhhh yes you hae a feature video congratulations well done my friend

    and great video

  • thanks ingrid

  • Nice BIG fisz :-))))) 5/5

  • Wow u guyz got a lot of fish

  • Do you mind telling me how to get to this particular spot? I live in New Jersey so the tip of PA where erie meets is pretty far but I wouldn't mind making a trip up there when I have some time. Thanks.

  • this spots in Dunkirk NY at the city pier off rt 5

the fishings hit or miss -more miss than hit - get skunked here a lot but every once in a while you can hit a day like this .

  • That sucks man, I've been lookin all over my area and surrounding areas for good shore fishin cause I don't have a boat. 99% of the time its mis for me.

  • so

    in the winter

outside a warm non freezing stream

    egg sacks?

  • whats the creel size/limit?

  • i think for trout in lake erie its 12" 3 fish.

  • What bait where you guys using?

  • on this day we were using egg sacks but minnows, jigs and casting spoons work too

  • Oh nice, the trout out here really love nightcrawlers they don't seem to love salmon eggs and neither do the salmon

  • what draws the bows into that area...is there moving water nearby?

  • the warm water discharge from the coal fired electric plant keeps the harbor ice free all winter attracts baitfish and the trout follow

  • what bait u use

  • WE WERE FISHING EGG SACKS UNDER A FLOAT

  • lake erie?

  • lake erie

  • egg sacks off a peir nice thinking . there rain bows rite?

  • some times marabou jigs are better-- rainbows

  • That was awesome handing the rod to the little guy!lol!

man I miss fishin there!/ that vicinity! Grew up in Tonawanda, n moved to Bird ave. (close to that harbor)while I went to college! great times, sadly missed

  • thanks - we do that a lot -my brother was handing off his rod to local kids so they could fight the fish and passing out bait so others could get in on the good fishing.

at least your not too far to make the occasional trip back

  • anyone know what lake this was?

  • lake Erie

  • hey what bait did yall use

  • would atlas mike spawn sacs work well in the erie tribs? i have fished them before with egg sacs that my brothers dad cured and tied but never used the spawn sacs.

  • i dont know anybody that ever caught a fish off those atlas mikes spawn sacks in the jar.

better off using eggs your brothers dad cured - home cured eggs are always best

  • alright thanks

  • wow, I don't know If I would want to eat ANYTHING out of Lake Erie those re some really nice rainbows however

  • millions of pounds of fish (perch) are commercially harvested ( netted)from lake Erie every year .

the health benefits from eating fresh fish far outweigh any slight risk of toxins. theres high levels of mercury in the tuna caught out in the ocean

  • would GULP do well for fishing trout?

  • i dont know about the gulp but Berkley power eggs work good

  • gulp works excellent for trout

  • What bait do you use to get fish?

  • Just a Tip i use nightcrawlers as bait

  • where is this place? My home also close to lake erie and I just got 5 pounds rainbow trout today. Where is this location?

  • its in newyork .chautauqua county

  • What kind of lure u use? Powerbait?

  • the big fish of the day at 4:11 was caught using power bait -the rest were caught on trout & salmon egg sacks.

  • Geez those things look like Salmon. Nice work! Which Great Lake is that? Superior, Michigan?

  • Lake Erie

    thanks

  • nice trout really nice wish i could caught trout like that:)

  • Awesome

  • Comment removed

  • great vid though mike seems a lil cam shy

  • thanks.

mike's not overly enthusiastic about being on you tube

good luck with the heart surgery and gettin back on the road

  • how are you fishing the egg sacks and minnows?? bottom,,float..etc??

  • 6 to 8 ft under a float

  • by chance are you going to smoke those fish?

  • which pier was this at? and what were you using?

  • dunkirk-gets pretty crowded at times-even before i put up the video-minnows and egg sacks

  • where are you fishing at?

  • lake Erie in newyork

  • damn, i was hoping this was in monroe, michigan

  • You guys should come up to some spots in pa real good fishin up here and not to far from you...

  • i heard about the pa steelhead & trout fishing-i think they stock a lot more fish in pa than ny does

  • Yea they stocked good this year i dont know if your guys season starts this saturday or not but ours does and its real good fishing i especially like to fish the trout. looking forward to catch some brooke trout this year and some rainbows.

  • What pier where you fishing off of. How can I get there. Are there any other places like it?
