Wow great vid! That looks like a hotspot with the coal plant heating the water! How lucky you are to have a great fishery like that! What all species of trout can be caught off that peir
@greatsantini7 i think the real big bow i caught in this video was on a single chartreuse berkley power egg. i know guys have done well on the power eggs in the harbor but don't know about the power bait
@ROADSNAKE90ROADSNAKE IM sorry thats what i meant power eggs yes thats what i use the power bait clay or doe isn't as effective as a power egg is thanks for reply please view my trout video if you like im subbing you guys
what type of bait do you use under those floats, and how deep do you set them? I have a uncle in Buffalo, and he's always asking for me to head out there and fish. The problem is that he recently had a stroke and can't strain himself too much, so I'm looking for a solid fishery we can both enjoy. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Oh and thanks for releasing that big guy.
i fished there in febuary a couple years ago best steelhead fishn i ever had id love to go back and fish it again. i prolly got a fish every 10 min. only thing that sucked were all the shad and there were thousands of them and they were fucking hugeee. haha . good job guys
Hey Bill..I think this was the 1'st vid. def not lake erie, i watched 20 vids from this guy, there mostly all in ny, on lake ontario, get ur lakes right, he wants u to think he catching salmon and browns all the time in erie, nice try buddy, been steelhead fishing for years,
is that dunkirk harbor? what time of year was this... i heard during the winter that wooden doc by the electric plant was a good place to go.. i live no to far from here, ive never really fished for these, but id really like to. it would be awesome.. any tips on what to use or anything like that? it would be greatly appreciated.
Have you guys ever tried using little cleo's and cast for steelhead. My dad docks his boat on the chagrin river and during October and November little cleo's catch us alot of steelhead trout.
@wikiwikiwias000 - probably next year - we stopped at the pier back in April but it was so cold and windy i didn't last an hour - went to a nearby creek instead
is this a michigan or ohio pier? i fish the clinton river for steelys but it gets a small run of fish with a lot of pressure! nice vids, keep up the good work!
i live in medford, Oregon and the nicest lake we have for fish like this are Howard Prairie and AppleGate, but we have the Rogue River Nationally Known for awesome Salmon/Steelhead
most of the fish we ever caught there didn't have eggs ,mainly 1-3lb jacks and bigger spawned out fish .probably better off stopping at canadaway creek when it warms if you want to get a fish or 2 with eggs.
minnows work better sometimes at the pier if you got a dip net you can get all you want for free there
we used fixed floats set at 7' with 3' fluorocarbon leader size 10 hooks and egg sacks but some days the fish prefer a black or white marabou jig tipped with a waxworm or minnow
to day was my first day for steelhead fishing im 11 i had one but i made a mistake i thought my drag was to tight so i loosend it and i twisted the line to much and it snapped the line right before it got into the net the fish was around 7 pounds.
bill, i've been wondering any advice if i should use mono or braid for trout? i got a baitcaster so i've beent hinking mono cause of easy pullouts for the backlashes but never know, i always use fluoro leaders now
i was thinking mono because of easy pullouts for backlashes, but i usually go for nothern and catfish, so around 8lb im guessing, not enough trout around here
Do you mind telling me how to get to this particular spot? I live in New Jersey so the tip of PA where erie meets is pretty far but I wouldn't mind making a trip up there when I have some time. Thanks.
That sucks man, I've been lookin all over my area and surrounding areas for good shore fishin cause I don't have a boat. 99% of the time its mis for me.
That was awesome handing the rod to the little guy!lol!

at least your not too far to make the occasional trip back
would atlas mike spawn sacs work well in the erie tribs? i have fished them before with egg sacs that my brothers dad cured and tied but never used the spawn sacs.

We are going to the pier MONDAY, OR TUESDAY, 3/ 8-9/2010.
Was thinking Sunset bay bait shop to buy the egg sacks? I don't know of any other bait shops open close to the pier?
Will the trout (if we get any) will have eggs in them, so I can make my own?
It's been a cold winter, so maybe the trout haven't moved in yet?

millions of pounds of fish (perch) are commercially harvested ( netted)from lake Erie every year .
the health benefits from eating fresh fish far outweigh any slight risk of toxins. theres high levels of mercury in the tuna caught out in the ocean
