We began attending the WWCG in the early 1980's. I was just a small boy then, Our assigned site was Norfolk, VA. It was very different from the Big Sandy Feast site but the process was much the same. We attended daily services in the Scope, a huge civic arena located in downtown Norfolk. I can remember we parked what seemed like an hour away from the Scope and walked for what seemed like miles to get there each day. I've always missed those days.
I was there in 1961&1962. I have an old 8mm of 1961, but the quality isn't as good as this. It was certainly a simpler time then. I liked the '63 Chevy pulling in at the beginning. It was brand new! While I don't necessarily have a problem with criticisms of the WCG doctrines, HWA's beliefs, lifestyle, or other matters, this is not the place. The video is a remembrance. If you want to preach or be offensive, do it elsewhere.

And so we rehearse for the Day of the LORD. When we will again Tabernacle in Person with The Eternal.
Its sad so many people focus on his mistakes and ignore the things he had right.
He should be treated fairly.
His mistake was he let himself become surrounded by yes men and did not stick to what the bible said.
Remember he said many times.
"Don't believe me believe the bible"
Christians focusing more on there pastor than on God is a problem a lot of Churches have today and what ever my church says is right problem to. I would say more than 50%.

I have HWA's book, The United States and Britain In Prophecy and the Judah's Sceptre book. HWA copied stuff almost word for word and never gave credit. He tried to pass it off as divine revelation. It was divine revelation alright - it was PLAGIARISM!
Mr Armstrong had a way of drawing you in. I should know My Mum was a member of this church for years and then all of a suddon things began to change for the greater good. We seen family separated because of the way people look to Mr Armstrong. It was sad but something that needed to happen within the church. It was surely an eye opening for all my youth Group at the time. SHOCKING what you find yourself in at time. I would have never thought I would be associated with a cult.
Define cult? It only proves that what happened in the mid 90's proves the source of Mr. HWA's knowledge. SAtan would do anything to stop God's True Church... Of course Satan would do no harm to his own churches.

Your downing Armstrong for doing what the bible says not what fits in his life. You should be ashamed of yourselves for putting him down because in doing so you down the Bible itself.
I think you miss my point. I agree completely with you, if I understand what you're saying (your grammar is not completely clear to me). I'm saying that people don't understand who and what Mr. Armstrong was or what he taught, and how he sought to live by the Bible as few people ever have. He was no cult leader. But some people would rather be a cult of one and follow their own self-will than follow a strong-willed leader who yet sought to submit to God's will.
