  • I'm no believer but if this song isn't proof of something divine I don't know what is. Thank you Maynard, for daring to say something real.

  • LOVE THIS SONG, LOVE THIS BAND.....

  • Such a beautiful song. After hearing Judith by a perfect circle and now this it's obvious his mother was a strong and amazing person with a huge influence on her son. Even if she was Christian. This song has so much meaning, it's gotta mean more than just the message about his mother though (god rest her soul) Maynard wanted to touch people with these songs on a personal level. And to me it has meaning to my girlfriend (she is catholic and has heart problems) so I think this may be my favorite

  • i am honestly live 1000 days in the fire , means i am supposed to be here for 9000 days more ?

  • thumbs up if u re super high watching dz :))) highhhh

  • she was paralyzed when he was, what, eleven? have a little respect, please. songs by Tool and A Perfect Circle are said to have two meanings; the first is the meaning from the writer/band, who wrote it for that meaning, and the second is the listener's meaning, what they interpret it's meaning to be.

interpret it how you want, but have respect for other people's interpretations -.-

  • 0:00

  • @Mroyy12345 right... you all know what I meant :)P

  • Give me my wings

  • the whole song is amazing, but in my opinion 3:34 to 4:05 is possibly the most powerful part ever in musical history. Ever.

  • I'm not even Christian but it's blatantly obvious he's singing about Lucifer...

  • @wraithbaby1 He had an interview and specifically said this was for his dead mother.......

  • @churchic I'm sure thats what he wants everyone to believe. And I''m sure his fans are dumb enough to believe him.

  • @wraithbaby1

    What the fuck?

  • @CanadianPolybius Oh boo fucking hoo, it's not my problem you have shit for brains.

  • @wraithbaby1

Is coming on the internet and insulting people's intelligence fulfilling to you?

  • @wraithbaby1 Soooo, Judith Marie is Lucifer? It's a real stretch to say he's "blatantly" singing about Lucifer when he directly references his mom.

  • @011Hidalgo No moron, he sings about his mom from only 6mins into the song. For the whole first portion of the song before he mentions his mother I'm pretty sure he is singing out Lucifer. Lucifer means "illuminated one" he was essentially a piece of the divine until he was cast out. Why would his mother go to heaven and angrily confront the holy trinity declare divinity? Lucifer obviously would, not his fucking mom. Is his mom gonna save us from the flood? And guide us to Zion? Really really?

  • @wraithbaby1 he only directly states his mother's name 6 minutes in, but it's really obvious he's talking about his mom. He says 10,000 days in the fire is long enough. 10,000 days is how long his mom was paralyzed before she died. anyways, your claim that he only wants people to think the song is about his mother is ridiculous. why would he do that?

  • @011Hidalgo hardly when the group has some ties to masonry and hold Aleister Crowley in high esteem. Don't be so naive.

  • @Cwes71 I see what you mean, I would want to get out of the public eye as much as possible too. I also agree that it is better for people to practice their own beliefs to themselves. I am thinking about doing that real soon.

  • dude just realized his intitials are MJK and her initials are JMK. weird.

  • Go read tool's newsletter. It reveals that this song (pt1 and 2) reflects the 3rd chakra. (majesty/victory) Not to mention the whole album reflects the tree of life. Fucking epic.

  • Im pretty sure Maynard is an Alien guys!!!

  • The greatest poet in rock is Maynard. End of story.

  • ahhh Judith by APC is about his mom... its all coming together now. never would've figured that until reading the description. Love songs with real meaning

  • im going to this concert this weekend cant wait

  • The strangest thing about this song (for me) is that it came out just a couple of years before an Austrian guy Joseph Fritzl was caught hiding his daughter in his basement for 20 years (thats right 10,000 days) where he had raped her and made her have his children... i know it wasn't written about that but i couldn't help thinking how ironic is that ..."10 thousand days in the fire is long enough" my God it gives me the creeps just thinking bout it ...

  • Comment removed

  • @preset125 The song's about his mom's life. Read the description it has nothing to do with satan really.

  • Ya know he might consider a fact in all religions to help make his songs to help other people understand why other religious beliefs are important

  • I have a serious question.

    What does Maynard believe in?

Like religion? or does he not believe in a god or does he believe something else?

  • @ZooxYorkxRulez The thing about Tool is that they purposely want to keep their private lives out of the public eye, but from his lyrics and such I think he is probably an athiest. He also seems to be very against organized religion, but not religion itself. Meaning that religion is good for people when they privately live by their chosen religion's teachings and allow it to guide their life, but organized religion too often becomes a means of control over its followers.

  • When Maynard dies the world will stop and cry.

  • @Themusicisalligot hes not dead

  • Maynard should go down as one of the greatest artists of all time without any question, unbelievable how he can connect to the masses on such a level. Hell, I feel like making a new religion Maynardtololgy about 46 times better than Scientology LMFAO.

  • Comment removed

  • @Themusicisalligot hagamoslaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • @Themusicisalligot you mean Tool right? Maynard just sings and writes the lyrics, none of the music. they're a band.

  • @Themusicisalligot lol. try 46 & 2 times better :P

  • @Themusicisalligot i agree but people would rather jerk off to justin biebir (i cant spell his name) then listen to real music

  • @Themusicisalligot ...I get what you're saying, and I assume you are joking, but...I'm pretty sure that Maynard would think Maynardtololgy is gay, just like all religions.

  • @Themusicisalligot scientology is complete shit so 46 times better wont be too good. Seriously though you can learn alot from the stuff they write. Life lessons etc. Also Tool is a 4 peice project. There is more than just maynard.

  • excellent!

  • this isnt the full song. full song is 11 minutes long

  • why in the fuck is a 10 year old on the internet? go play outside.

    actually everyone should

  • This song is about his mother had a sickness for three years witch is roughly 10,000 days befor she died.

  • @937BLAZELEY um....3 years 1095 days, that's Nowhere near 10000.

  • @Mattydude111 27 years...

  • @Mattydude111

    LOL 27 Years bro.

  • Comment removed

  • @937BLAZELEY From what I can find she was in a coma or something and 10000 days is a little over 27 years, not 3.

  • This is the mos beautiful and awesome song made in the last 20 years, It´s really awesome. There is no words to describe it.

  • This song really touch me

  • thank you very much for this video

  • I don't know, I'm trying to like this song but I just can't. I guess Schism is going to be the only Tool song I actually like. The thing is, I loove Schism, It's amazing to listen to and I would think that I'd like at least ONE more song from them considering the admiration I have for that one song, but to me, their other songs don't quench me quite like Schism or even come close

  • @Murderocracy ugh, schism-tool fans -1

  • @Murderocracy it's a taste you get, i was like you at first, then after moths of listening just schism - parabola, i tried it again and just happened that i started to like everything by them.

  • Made me cry!!!!!!! MAYNARD IF YOU CAN SEE THIS! I LOVE YOU DUDE!!!!!!! IIIIIIII LLLLOOOOOOVVVVVVEEEEE YYYYYYOOOOOOUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Metal4life147 he means that you have to watch 'Wings for Marie' first, and then jump to this video

  • I love metal but this song beats just about everything... It is by far the most beautiful song I've heard

  • what does he mean it's not the entire song of 10,000 days?

  • Infreakingtense

  • or a friend living in hell "earth"for 27.4 years "10,000 days"then decending to heaven in the afterlife and leaving us all on this planet and feeling lost without him.

  • this sounds like a friend going to heaven while i go to hell.

  • ive been listening to this song over and over again... i realized this after the snowflakes consumed the whole screen

  • is james maynards middle name and if so why are we stating his first middle and last name thats reserved for assasins and him i guess

  • these lyrics pierce the soul

  • If this song was a pancake, it would be a really good pancake.

  • @badman11811 I want to shoot a railroad spike so far up your ass right now for that comment.

  • @cardinalbaseballer5 'Oh, what are they going to do when the lights go down

Without you to guide them all to Zion?

What are they going to do when the rivers overrun

    Other than tremble incessantly?'

'You are the light and way that they will only read about.

Set as I am in my ways and my arrogance,

(With the) burden of proof tossed upon the believers.'

  • @cardinalbaseballer5 good description but i thought he was also saying that its sad that his mother lived being a good person with such strong faith and she'll be disappointed when she gets to the other side and there is no heaven to give her the wings that she deserved.

  • OMFG I listened this when I was a baby and I liked it, and now more because I understand it ! \m/

  • @Piruli006 so you're six years old?? and now you get it??

  • ...i would like to thank the poet for sharing his lyrics with us...

this powerfull fantastic sound and meaning is great stuff...

    Tool build me!!

  • Damn, this song is so sad along with part one. ))':

    *Sadden*

  • Goosebumbs, tears, awe and wonder. Thats what i feel when i hear this song

  • @Rossmoff Ps: its not a song, its a way of life, tool makes one's life richer imho!

  • anybody who wants to hear a dumbass talk shit on tool and maynard click on TOP 10 REASONS WHY TOOL SUCKS. He will burn in a special hell, just for him

  • @jugallostaulker lol he just tried to troll and didnt work... fail troll is fail

  • I am literly 10 years old and this song is not just a song its a powerful gift to his mom. This song and its meaning will surpass anything we see in a long time

  • @nathan1522470 same here.

  • @nathan1522470 you said it little man

  • The music alone grips your mind

  • no...he's saying"burden of proof tossed upon the believers" He is and always has questioned the collective dogma of organized religion.

  • My nipple hairs are erect!!!! 10000 days is a masterpiece!!!!!!!!!

  • May Maynard's mother Rest In Peace. This gift to her probably meant more to her than anything else.

  • it dosen't matter how many times i watch this video and read the words whilst listening i always think about my good old mum and it gives me goose bumps never has there been a deeper song. love tool

  • theres a reason why this song has over 800 likes and under 10 dislikes.

CUZ ITS FUCKING AWESOME!!!!! <3 TOOL FOR LIFE

  • God, bless you! Take a vacation with Jesus and get your wings.

  • after my dad got me into tool i read up on Judith's life and i must say there is a striking resemblance to my mother's experience and hers, my mother belived in God and the christian faith to the fullest extent and never questioned his word even when she had to have her leg crippled to save her from cancer and only to have it come back and keep her crippled by forcing doctors to amputate she never stopped praying to god and when her time came she was as strong in faith as ever after six yearsRIP

  • Happy Birthday Judith Marie. Today I found this video and got to know Your story. I think it's not an accident but I don't know why. RIP

  • @mrmillsap I am

  • Turn off the lights, lay down...

  • 10000 days is 27 years...

  • Very good work man.

  • I know you realize it now, but the "non" "the" mistake really takes on an entirely different meaning for the song. I think that one line really explains his change in his beliefs.

  • @ttooooll24 He had the right lyrics. It is "the" and not "non".

  • @mahnamesjakers You couldn't be more wrong. The lyrics starts off with "Set as I am in my ways and my arrogance". He is referring to his long standing disbelief in religion. Refer to Judith in APC. The lyric ends with ""Burden of proof tossed upon non-believers". That makes total sense. He's now a believer, and he's now forcing non-believers to proove THEIR case. Saying "the believers" is wrong!!!

  • @ttooooll24 Well, since I'm not a stuck up asshole I respect your opinion. I was just stating the technical lyrics. In my opinion, he is saying that he isn't a believer, and that believers have always been faced with the problem that they don't know whether or not god exists. Once again, I'm not a stuck up asshole so... yeah eat shit.

  • @mahnamesjakers Where did I say you were a stuck up asshole? "And this little light of mine, a gift you passed on to me. I'm gonna let it shine to guide you safely on your way." "Look him in the eye and tell him, I never lived a lie, never took a life, BUT SURELY SAVED ONE."

It took his mother's death for him to start understanding her Faith, and he has even adopted some of it. He still disagrees with the "typical" Christian, but only a stuck up asshole would not get that.

  • @ttooooll24 If you had even half a brain, you would realize that I said that YOU were a stuck up asshole, so swallow my jizz.

  • @Jesikizzle I know about that, and I know, I'm not able to making fun of this (and my last comment wasn't supposed to make fun of this), but we're waiting for their next album quite long, aren't we? Of course, the're doing other things with other projects and 10,000 Days album was masterpiece... But it's still 5 years ago...

  • It breaks my heart every single time I listen to it.

Mortality couldn't be more evident while listening to this song.

  • I would swear that the name of this album relates to the next album release...

  • @KainsVampyre Absolutely not. 10,000 days is 27 years, which is the amount of time Maynard's mother spent paralyzed..

  • This song just brought me to tears while commuting to work

  • Unbelievably good.

  • This is the first time I can honestly say a song sent shivers down my spine.

    3:55 = eargasm

  • @TheGrimoireMovement i know what you mean.... if i'm ever driving and listening to this song i will often sing along. at the top of my lungs. (cuz: y'know... who can hear me? nobody) everytime it gets to that part i come ridiculously close to crying and i have no idea why. such powerful lyrics

  • was hell baked listening to this song to a mate at a football field then we started a band and it ended up sounding like meshuggah.

  • all power...got goosebumps listening to this 1

  • Glorious.

    Weavings

    of

    Dark and

Light! ... pulls me like a magnet. over. and over again. it's like... the tree of life that never looses it's depth or meaning... it's reaching new places. spiral out. keep going. thanx tool...

  • This is heartfelt, but not completely sweet.

There's definitely a biting, bitter undertone, at least in the first song where he says "I'm home now, give me my wings!" It's almost condescending, even.

  • @Breaker8nine If you read the lyrics to the end you can tell the undertone is more about his about how he doesn't believe in exactly what she believes in but at the end he tells her if she gets there she better "Look him in the eye" and tell him how it is basically. Also goes with the 10,000 days in the fire, you're going home, like she's lived through hell she deserves this heaven she's believed in more than anyone.

  • @puggypugpug101 Dude, not on this song...

  • @puggypugpug101

I would give anything to downvote you at least 100 times

  • @2112Primus alright stfu i deleted the comment. happy dipshit??

  • @puggypugpug101 Yes.

I wish people would learn that those kinds of comments are completely retarded.

  • @2112Primus omfg i hate myself i just found out the meaning of the song. God damn it i'm stupid...

  • Judith Marie unconditional one

  • The most beautiful gift a son could give to his mother...

  • 10,000 days is 27.4 years.

  • @jaikkhubb interesting...

  • Another interesting thing about the 10'000 days is that it equals 29 years which, as mentioned in the song 'The Grudge'*, Is one full circle of Saturn (10'000 days being the length of time that Judith was paralysed till the time of her death).

    * Saturn comes back around, To show you everything,

Lets you choose what you will, Will not see and then

Drags you down like a stone, Or lifts you up again

Spits you out like a child, Light and innocent.

  • @Welcometothebrothel2 I never noticed that!

It's more coincidence than anything, but still cool to think about ;)

  • @lazyguy1393 yeah it is a coincidence but maynard obviously new all this and that is why '10000 says' is the album title. otherwise it would just be a morbid statement of his mothers suffering.

  • i just wanna write a special thanks man for you doin this.. i had no idea taking my own meaning from the song but now that i know the true meaning i almost cried this shits so beautifuly put together and just like EVERY TOOL song the deeper you dig into the more Amazing it gets. FUCK! someone slap me! i need to get some weed and smoke to this like old times.

  • The end is perfect

  • I love that you wrote this description and made this video :) awesome!

  • @tiffers1982 27 years after birth? Othr wise she had him at 16!

  • @PSCreativeGaming No, she had an aneurism that crippled her in 1976 when Maynard was 11 yrs. old. She suffered and lived in a wheel chair, until she died in 2003...or 27 years.

  • This is has to be the best musical piece ever made.

4:02 hit me so hard I shed tears.

    Favorite band of all time.

    I love Maynard James Keenan.

  • song is about his moms bout with cancer

  • She lived crippled for 10,000 days. Being the title, "10,000 days".

  • I typed too fast it should be "after suffering" not after having a suffering lol.

  • But great song and thanks for the upload.

  • anybody notice that 10,000 days is 27 years. I wonder what he meant by that? and for fucks sake none of you stupid hipsters come up to me and say "Stop trying to interpret it" I can do what the fuck i want to

  • @MrBrooksGrant 27 years was how long his mom lived after having a suffering an aneurysm that left her crippled. I'm thinking that might be what 10000 days mean.

  • @tiffers1982 Oh, cool

  • 2:00 to 3:20 is one of the greatest parts in any song ever created. It's filled with so much emotion and meaning. Tool is the greatest band ever, and Maynard is a genius.

  • @leslimysquid Yes! That is my favorite part! My toes start to curl and my eyes tend to want to stray to the back of my head lol. I also never knew that a person could get goosebumps all the way to their feet till I heard this mans voice.

  • I thinks it about dying..

  • I think every song Maynard writes is about his mother in some way...

  • MY TIME

    MY TURN

    MINE

  • something talking amongst themselves, gathering amongst themselves doing the adult whatever they do thing when they do that and I block them out. Pay attention in my own bubble. Sarah wasn't around. I don't remember her ever when I was really young. But that wasn't my house. And even though the rug at that house was in a picture that Sarah had from when I was a baby shown as a baby in the light blue painted wicker basket cradle under a cristmas tree decorated with presents under the tree and

  • to get stitches.

I don't remember. Actually I think I remember Mommy and baby pool, chlorine and bonding lessons in the water at the pool in the YMCA at the sterling center oh yeah and the jungle gym at the park, the geodome one and it was just me and my dad, I was two. I have an early memory too of a place and christmas and a baby toy train connect set. Wasn't my house and I knew this, it was my parents friends house and they put me in the room alone when they were in the other room or

  • on stage and creep when he's off.

Well probably not but anyway, it was a thought. Something happened then right? I guess right?

What about pre-school and then there's one year old teaching. I didn't go to pre-school until I was three. And I really don't remember a thing I don't think before that- they kept blocking it when I tried and kept re-trying after when I tried to see how good my memory was 2001 time period. My mom said I fell off the porch onto a rake when I was two years old and had

  • I just couldn't help but notice and be affected by him- his presence. And not in a good way. That's why I bit him. But we were by the corner by the door playing (me and my two best friends one of them used to call me Anne Tennis) and it was the perfect pathway and moment to act, so I told them I didn't like him and I was going to bite him.

Is this where my beloved man whore/gay friend and person of whom I so much love and adore came to be? And I got to greet in his presence? Lorenzo when he's

  • and still no response... strangely as if they were cut off from my world in that way that I'm talking about right now for more than a few moments, or as if they cut me off, or even set me up on purpose for me to notice these strange things about him, and that he stood out in that way for no one else around seeming to get or notice it too, and for them to pretend like they weren't listening, or interested, or part of my thing that I couldn't help every time we would go in and out of rooms and

  • from school she asked me if I bit the kid and she asked why and I told her because I didn't like him. but I was kind of at peace by her response because I thought she was going to yell at me like Janie did or something, but she just replied with a little kid to adult understanding and pondered with question in her face and though "oh" and that was all.

I told my friends right before I did it that I was going to do it but they weren't listening or they didn't hear me and so I tried again

  • high school when the threats happened there.

  • Black Hole Sun is the name and lyrics of the song

(you can also replace this with Maynard and it will let you into another crypt-ex type of thing... or facebook... and isn't there a way into the pipeline, both of them through facebook- and not the usual ways through what I had already put up and stated?)

Hey, and Essex Aggie is coming through there so... yeah

good luck with all of that. don't forget school shooting was a threat there too at one point in time. More so than it was at Ipswich

  • The intro of this song got me massive shivers.

  • sdfgsdfg

  • There is no song with a meaning as deep as this...

  • @TheJmhtrout no fukken kiddin, 6:11 plus 5:02 adds up to 11:13 put "Viginti Tres" and "Wings for Marie" together (in that order) and play them at the same time as "10,000 Days. and you get a creepy song or somethin

    thats what cracked says

  • ok i need to explain to you what tool does ok.tool wrights songs for your own personal interpratation.he wants you to think about the lyrics and aply them to your own beliefs or yourself.their is no set meaning it means whatever you want it to
