I'm a Stroudsburg Marching Band alumni... I graduated in 2000, we won every competition we were in. This was (another) great show.. I'm glad to see you guys at Giant's Stadium, going there for the 4 years had to be one of the highlights of my high school career (that, and the band trips)... I thought it was so sad when I heard the band wasn't competing, or going to Giant's Stadium anymore. Skip really is a great teacher. He gets a tough rap, but he's one of the best... ; )
@howellpower3 This was the USSBA National Championships in the Old Meadowlands Stadium (I can't believe it's been three and a half years already). I think our band had eighty-somethin' members.
And thanks! Would it surprise you if I said that it's the lowest-rated portion of the video, according to the statistics? The lowest point is exactly at the "I LOVE YOU!"xD
@howellpower3 I can even remember one rehearsal where we ran the Wild Thing section over and over againxD It was HILARIOUS. Our director pointed way up high and said, "Make sure you sing loud, and point up high at the end so 'Joe' (the imaginary homeless guy) can see and hear you!!"
I was in this MB in the early 90's. It was a great experience for me. Nice to come across this, but what's with all the guitars... the keyboard? Doesn't seem very marching bandish. I hate to say it, but this seemed dull and not very artistic. Nothing against the students... perhaps it's the direction from Skip? Sorry. Just my opinion.
We don't conform to how other marching bands. We do our own thing, which is why you notice keyboards and guitars. And I have to admit, Mr. Cassady is one of the best band directors I have ever come across in my life. You have to see it to believe it.
my school did 25 or 6 to 4 last year for our halftime show, along with After The Love Has Gone and Come Sail Away. You guys sound awesome. I wish we did as many songs as you.
only problem i have with this... you guys could have marched 2 snares, 1 tenor, 5 bass, 3 cymbals or something, why so many snares and the lack of the rest of the line? :(
Our director lets us have a say in what we want to play. I think four people out of the twelve people on the line (I'm counting the keyboardist) wanted to play in the pit at the beginning of camp. After the second day, he put the keyboardist on the synth and gave the other three parts in the Drumline (1 Bass and 2 cymbalists).
Three of the four snares are also seniors who have obviously been playing for a while, so he kept them on snare. This year, we're expecting to have a bigger Line {c}
{c} so I'm assuming that he may bring out the Tenor and we may have more than just three guitarists and one keyboardist (actually one of the guitarists and the keyboardist graduated) in the pit.
It's just the way our director rolls:) I have no problem with it as long as I get to Bang on a Drum:D
lol, man tenors and basses woulda been pretty sweet i can tell there's some talent there, and im not talking about the screeching sax at the beggining..... the program seemed to get better as it progressed though :]
Yea, we didn't compete.:( But we got scored anyways (by groups and then the whole band). I forget what we got overall, but I believe the Drumline got 192 out of 200 (one of the snare players dropped their drum at the end of Footloose; that may have been the problem:)).
But yea, we didn't compete. We've been asked by our director if we'd like to, but I don't think we will be again this year.:(
Lol, true. He may change his mind eventually, though. Maybe if and when we go to M&T Stadium this year (instead of Giants Stadium) he'll let us compete.:)
how do you upload the video on here from the dvd...i march for king george in virginia and we have nationals dvd and i dont kno how to get it on here can you help?????o and by the way very out of tune:(
I LOVE this show!!! It looks so fun!

@suzukirider651 They just don't. That's how they always hold them.

In middle school at Richland MS, in Richland Hills, Texas, we played 25 or 6 to 4 for a concert when Matthew Cho was the head director. Good Years.

I don't think you'll be competing as long as you have Skippy-do as your director.

The sound's not messed up. It was when we watched it in the band room, but not here. The picture quality is messed up here, though.
1 month and 24 days until I'm (hopefully) on snare!!
