My husband, an Army veteran, was turned down for any insurance because he was 10 pounds overweight, and his cholesterol was high normal. It was more likely because he was approaching 60 yrs old. He's still too young for medicare, but I've seen him endure some serious back pain because he's afraid to go to the doctor. One minor procedure for me was over $11,000. 15 minutes in the OR, 3 hrs max at the outpatient center. It's scary. Most people that like their insurance have employer paid insurance

Congressman Grayson has started the beginning of massive exposure of fraud and obvious over pricing of medical services on all levels.

In my opinion, this will prompt the nation to explore means of maintaining ones own health through nutrition and fresh produce.

Drink not one (1) soda at all and your health will instantly improve, honest truth.

Too bad that good nutrition and exercise are not panaceas to keep you safe from cancers caused by environmental poison, accidents, and diseases that you just get. I'm considered a health nut, but it didn't keep me from getting thyroid problems, essential tremor (no cure or relief for that) and now Hepatitis C, maybe from a past surgery. Not drinking sodas will help maintain your weight sometimes, but as you age, you will get sick. My brother got Crohn's in spite of good nutrition.

Thanks. I am partially covered as BCBS considers tremor and Hep pre-existing. He hasn't been able to work, and nobody will hire him because they don't want somebody with Crohn's on their insurance rolls. The meds also cause kidney stones & pull calcium from his bones.

But in this health care debate nobody ever talks about serious injury. What if you fall and get brain injury? Nutrition certainly won't prevent that.
