I have read Sartre. Sartre's argument against the existence of God is very weak. I can go over this if you believe otherwise.

However, it is one thing for an intelligence to give meaning to an artifact which the intelligence has designed. It is wholly different for some person without a teleology to give themselves meaning.
How does God give us meaning? Let's say he exists. How does that change our life from "meaningless" to "meaningful"? Because he has some opinion of our purpose or what we should do!? So??? Why should that opinion have any more validity in our lives than that of another person, say a close friend?
It has to do with intentionality. Take for example an artefact a opposed to something which is found in nature made by random processes.
If I make an axe head for the purpose of cutting trees it has a teleology. It has a purpose which I the maker have given it. When it is made it is made with a purpose. Thus it has meaning. A sharp rock found in nature was not made with intention. It has no purpose.
If someone made the universe and man with intention, then we may have a teleology.
That still seems completely subjective to say an item only is valuable or respectable if someone made it for its purpose.We might appreciate something more if it is useful and enjoyable despite nobody having intended it to be.

But I have a reason why the "end" doesn't bother me. It is a perfectly rational opinion, no wishful thinking. It is simply this: Eternal life scares the living fuck out of me.
