It's unfortunate, but when I didn't get half of the piece when I printed the sheet off. I got to 61, and then it stopped for some reason. Do you know what happened to the other half?
@g20703 The PDF I have in the description is my latest REVISION of the arrangement. I re-wrote the whole thing with a more appropriote tempo marking, effectively halving the number of measures. It's just an aesthetic thing.
@Bespinben I really like this version of this song on the piano, but your arrangement sounds similar to one already posted by some foreign dude on youtube. I tried to find it, but it's private or deleted.. He used the same kind of sheet music like you, as in the same program to show the sheet music or w/e, but I really liked his version... If you know him or have his sheet, could you pass it on to me? Or was it you? :P but i remember the title being entirely foreign. had over 100k views
@xKNiGhTx57 Yes, the left hand at Piu Mosso section is kinda fast, but still manageable. If you look at the section of music that consists of measures 88-103 in my newest revision, I include a note that allows for the ascending chord inversions to be left out if desired.
I think its form ninsheet just print it off. I have sky tower and in the hands of fate. I got put off playing this piece by how difficult it looked but i am about to do my grade 4 exam so maybe I should reconsider. Very touching piece always makes me cry when I listen to it
@tonkineseblue I arrange for Ninsheetmusic ^_^ alot of my sheets aren't on site though since updates aren't very often. I made a replacement of "In the Hands of Fate" if you're interested, as the one that's onsite has several wrong notes.
@Bespinben: Thanks :) I thought some of the notes sounded odd when I played in the hands of fate. I love all of these pieces so much they are so touching. Pokemon mystery dungeon music is my favourite game music next to okami :)
Everyone always gave me grief for crying at this part of the game... But how could I not? And you re wrote it beautifully :3 I love all your compositions! They're amazing!
@Raptormon132 You silly :3 I MADE this sheet music. To answer your question, this is just my program digitally playing back what I wrote. I am in the process of learning to play it myself though ;)
Well know...that's impressive. I've looked at more of your work & I have to say it very good. I recon you should be a composer. I know creative talent when I see it. The way you create music sheets of various music from various Pokemon games, I think you might have a good future ahead of you.
To all - I have made an updated version of the sheet above. The PDF link in the description now links to this much-needed revision. If you would like the PDF of the original sheet as seen the in the video above, please PM me.
@themusicIover The red notes are just are color coding for all notes in layer 2. On the PDF, those notes aren't red, but since I took screenshots directly out my arranging program, you see these notes as red.
@themusicIover The red notes are still part of the right hand, so no. Much to my annoyance, my program makes the bass clef and treble clef on the piano share the same MIDI channel. This is a way to get around this, but I'd have to add 2 pianos to the instrument list, get rid of the bass clef staff on one piano and the treble clef staff on the other, then combine them into one "group" with a bracket. I'd rather not do all that just to make the MIDI look pretty.
@Bespinben Okay. I see what you mean, it would be quite annoying if I had to comb a MIDI all the way through just to make it look nicer. Anyway, thanks for the help, and it's a beautiful piece you have just arranged there! :)
You know of all the Games i have played Pokemon Mystery Dungeon has left the biggest impact. The Story is amazingly awesome and heartwarming. When ever i hear the normal version of this some I shed a tear. I cried when i hear the version its Beautiful and I thank you for making this so awesome. P.S. Sandshrew wins all!
@TheIheartdog you respect the world more and your friends more...it teaches you amazing things! everything seems so real, because you can relate to it...a friend in need... a black city...
This is a very sad/inspirational music, an excellent job indeed! I know that you aspire to arrange all the OST, but could you do the Defend Globe song. Its caracter is similar to the one in this piece, so it should be ok to you to do it, and after seing some of your work i can say that you are very talented indeed! Keep up the good job :)
@toxic1197 Sure! All I'd have to do is copy-paste the melody from the arrangement here and transpose for the Alto Sax. I'll send you a PDF in a little bit.
@Lugia625 The violin plays in C just like the piano, so you can just read from the top line on my piano arrangement. The alto sax requires a transposition, so that's why I'd need to make a special sheet for toxic. Sorry XD
Im sorry 2 say u were off on the begining it sould be: D F G B A G F G D. I played this listening 2 the real song on my ipod and noticed that. everything else is good though. Thanks ive always love this song. Now i can. Ive also made a higher version 4 brass and woodwind instraments.
@Hamon240 I'm not very sure where the "beginning" refers to in your allegation, but I'm guessing it's the melody starting on the third beat of measure 5. If that's the case, you are correct, but correct for the key of G. I'm guessing you play an alto flute? The piano plays in C, concert pitch, and I can assure you whole-heartedly that my arrangement plays the same notes that the OST does. Thanks for the critique though ^_^ An awesome song like this needs close scrutiny.
I printed this song and asked my music teacher at school to help me learn it. I told him that it was a bit difficult for me and that I wouldn't be able to play the end for a while. He laughed, looked through the pages, laughed again and then told me that "This is simple!"
He then proceeded to play the ENTIRE song. It sounded just like this video. I'm learning it right now, so it is DEFINITELY playable!
@CaDeYbOi "I wouldn't be able to play the end for a while" ~ You're referring to measures 88-103 yes? It's great to have confirmation that the section is playable, as I was worried I was maybe asking too much of the player by having two completely distinct parts on the right hand there (the melody + the ascending chord inversions). It's pretty simple before m. 88 though :3
I've always admired people who can sight-read a piece of music on the spot, as it's something I'll never be able to do.
@Bespinben I know how you feel. The worst one was where I watched my music teacher unwrap a brand new Grade 8 book and sight-read everything. I don't think that guy's human.
There aren't any real problems with any of your arrangements, other than the fact that the densities of some of them are a bit intimidating. Especially "Across the Sea of Time/Grovyle's Sacrifice".
You really need more views. I took me FOREVER to find these! I suck at playing by ear...
If you could, could you do a few more pieces in pmd2? there are 140 tracks in that game... but, i would recommend team charms theme, and vast ice mountain. if you check 'em all out, pick a few you like, and do one or two.
@Jakoshark220 Oh don't worry, I intend on arranging the entire soundtrack. In fact, I just uploaded a new PMD2 arrangement yesterday, "Temporal Tower," and am now working on "Temporal Spire" (since it would only make sense to arrange it immediately following Temporal Tower :3).
Your arrangements are my favorite. I really enjoy listening to them.
I wanted to make a request. But it's not from Pokemon, nor Nintendo. I don't think there has been any piano arrangements for it yet actually. Would you mind if I asked?
@Bespinben I really doubt you've played it, but I'll still ask. The song is "Trapped Thoughts" from the game "Fate/Stay Night" It has a lot of beautiful music in it.
@ianh97 That was indeed a beautiful song. Nevertheless, being stubborned ol' me, I'm probably not going to arrange it simply because I haven't played the game. Thank you showing me that song though :)
I've been looking for the sheet music for the mystery dungeon soundtrack since ages... I already gave up and now I suddenly found your videos... Thank you so much :´)
I really love your piano arrangements... so beautifully!
@voreveryoung *sniff* that was a wonderful comment...
You see, I too used to search for PMD piano arrangements, but then I realized no one was going to make them (aside from the very obscure ones on Japanese Youtube that were virutally unplayable), so I decided to arrange the soundtrack myself. I'm so happy to know that there are other people like you that were looking for PMD piano arrangement. Thank you!
@MR0KITTY Thank you! Feel free to browse my other arrangements or even request something for me to do if you like =) (I'll usually do anything PMD or Pokémon in general).
@MR0KITTY Ooh! That's such a wonderful song, and it'd fit well with my current plan to also arrange the PMD 2 Credits, since that's the song the immediately precedes it. I'll take it!
@Bespinben My favorite part of that song is the short, quiet part with bells (or music box) and vibraphone towards the beginning. It just beautifully fits the idea of the partner remembering everything. A while ago, I tried to write up that song for Concert Band, so that my school could play it. I failed horribly XD
The credits song changes the mood, though, being all heroic and 6/8 and brass...
@MR0KITTY It's a music box I think, but could probably be played on a vibraphone if actually being performed. The idea of the duet fits well because the partner is remembering the adventure of TWO people: you and him/herself. I find it's easier to transcribe a song completely with all it's original instrumentation before trying to adapt to particular group, like a Concert Band.
The credits, though being heroic, also have a very subtle underlying tone of tragedy. They're also in 12/8, btw ;)
@Bespinben I've been trying to get that one part for the last hour. Whatever instrument it is, it sounds almost exactly like Music Creator 5's garbage vibraphone, but it also sounds like the music box in any other sound font I've used...
Ja, 12/8... The flutes' up and down six notes over and over and over again...
@MR0KITTY I just listened to TheSneekieSnake's fabulous remix of that song and I think a guitar and vibraphone would work really well with the section that you're stuck on (vibraphone on melody, acoustic guitar on the accompanimient).
@TheSneekieSnake Woops =P I've been trying to finish learning the "Parting" song from PMD 1 that I forgot about finishing learning this song. I'll get back to practice XD
Hmm. This is nicely arranged, though I didn't find the tempo changes to my liking - they tend to disrupt the natural rhythm of the song. The chord-heavy chorus towards the end of the song sounds pretty enough, but the actual playability of it would be quite low, considering the skills of the average keyboarder out there. Have you tried playing this on the piano yourself?
@TheSneekieSnake Thanks for the critique! About the tempo changes, I understand where you're coming from, but in actuality I couldn't get the program I arrange with to playback the ritardandos and accelerandos in the way I had in mind, resulting in (sometimes) sudden tempo changes, such as during the build-up to the climax. I have tried playing my arrangement on the piano, but having taken up the piano only a short 2 years ago, the chord-heavy chorus was considerably out of my ability to play.
@TheSneekieSnake It is playable with considerable practice I believe, as long as you can mentally keep track of the 3 distinct parts present (especially the right hand with it being responsible for 2 of those).
@Bespinben I've played the piano for something in the vicinity of 13 years, so I am quite confident in ability to gauge the playability of music scores. While my reluctance to attempt your arrangement is both a product of my laziness and my having already made an arrangement (that is better suited to my tastes in composition), I'd place the difficulty level at intermediate-advanced. Which is higher than most PMD players can manage, unfortunately.
@Bespinben Nevertheless, I await the day you master this song (and post your recording). Music always sounds better in human hands than a computerized synthesizer.
Do you play another instrument btw? Your musical knowledgeability far exceeds that of any beginner pianist.
@TheSneekieSnake You'd be surprised! My only other experience in music is 4 years of church and high school choir (plus private lessons). When I started up singing in choir, I told myself I would be a "singer musician," so I made a goal I would learn as much as I could about music theory. When I started up piano later, my learning was extremely fast, since the only thing I needed to learn was proper fingering, as I was already familiar with rhythmic values and the names of the notes on the piano
@Bespinben A singer musician, huh? Ambitious. A musician's success is based on his/her popularity. Aptitude can only get one so far. Unless you don't plan to make a full-blown career out of it?
@TheSneekieSnake Sorry for the confusion - by musician I meant "one who is knowledgable in the subject of music." I had always thought the human voice was as much as an instrument as any other musical instrument, so I felt it necessary that I understand my instrument and the notation thereof. I didn't want to be one of those people in choir that didn't have a clue as to what the strange symbols on the sheet meant.
@Bespinben I agree with your assessment of the human voice. Yet it differs from other instruments in being the luck of the draw in the genetic lottery. Although anyone can learn how to wield it effectively, few are born with the privilege of a pleasant voice. Would you be fortunate enough to come under the latter category?
@TheSneekieSnake It appears Youtube doesn't like me posting video links in the comments. I have some recordings my mom took from various recitals of mine, so I will PM those to you and let you decide the answer. Also, we must remember the correlation does not always equal causation. While I do enjoy math, it's something that for me is strictly paper and pencil, whereas the timing of rhythms in music is more like something I feel. The only time I've had to do MATH in music was converting to 12/8.
@TheSneekieSnake I did actually used to want to become a choir teacher, but I've recently decided that teaching math (something I also enjoy) is a safer career option (schools cutting budget, taking away music programs, etc.) And yes, I understand aptitude has its limits, but it's gotten me pretty far from where I started not all too long ago.
On a different note, I'll make sure I finish up learning my arrangement. If I really set my mind to it, I bet I could even get the climax down entirely.
Thanks Nebbles! I found a really high-quality piano sound on Finale, so I decided to use it here. It totally beats the MIDI piano sound by a long shot!
And Nebbles, I was wondering, is there a way to post videos on Deviantart? Or a box that has a play button on it?
its sad :(

@Bespinben I'm stuck on getting the notes right...
I can't figure out whether the melody plays Eb Db Eb Gb, Bb C Bb E, or chords...

@MR0KITTY Perhaps my future piano arrangement will be of assistance ;)

How goes practice?

@TheSneekieSnake Woops =P I've been trying to finish learning the "Parting" song from PMD 1 that I forgot about finishing learning this song. I'll get back to practice XD

Hmm. This is nicely arranged, though I didn't find the tempo changes to my liking - they tend to disrupt the natural rhythm of the song. The chord-heavy chorus towards the end of the song sounds pretty enough, but the actual playability of it would be quite low, considering the skills of the average keyboarder out there. Have you tried playing this on the piano yourself?
TheSneekieSnake 6 months ago

TheSneekieSnake 5 months ago

Bespinben 5 months ago
@TheSneekieSnake I did actually used to want to become a choir teacher, but I've recently decided that teaching math (something I also enjoy) is a safer career option (schools cutting budget, taking away music programs, etc.) And yes, I understand aptitude has its limits, but it's gotten me pretty far from where I started not all too long ago.
On a different note, I'll make sure I finish up learning my arrangement. If I really set my mind to it, I bet I could even get the climax down entirely.
Bespinben 5 months ago
@Bespinben So, you are one of those individuals in which maths and musical ability have a demonstrable correlation?

Thanks Nebbles! I found a really high-quality piano sound on Finale, so I decided to use it here. It totally beats the MIDI piano sound by a long shot!
And Nebbles, I was wondering, is there a way to post videos on Deviantart? Or a box that has a play button on it?
