king DDD (Thats the original spelling) wasnt really evil in the original game, he stole the star rod to defend dreamland, so he broke it up and gave it to power people so EnEmEE couldnt get as easily.

1) The game you're thinking of is "Kirby's Adventure". Dream Land is the original one.

2) Check out the part of this LP that has the end credits of the Extra Game. You'll see it's "DeDeDe" even in this one. :)
