This becomes a slippery slope that gun advocates are trying to avoid.

@Recluserr9915 I'm not knocking the cops, but instead rather pointing out the fact that they can't be everywhere all the time. They also don't have a duty to protect citizens either as decided by the Supreme Court in "Castle Rock v. Gonzales." So...what's the solution? I've advocated CCW being the law across all 50 states. It may not be popular, but it sure as hell beats waiting 3 minutes+ for the police to show up!

Even though this man saved a woman's life, and potentially helped resolve the mystery of the "Honeybee" murders, this story is hardly mentioned in the news in Illinois. Why? Because this man took the law into his own hands, and worse, he used a handgun. Citizens in Illinois are not allowed to carry handguns either openly or concealed, unless you're a Chicago alderman, then your life is obviously worth more and are allowed a carry permit.

It would have cost around $150 to $200K in court cost just to do the trial and conviction. Then $25K a year till he dies in jail for serving a min. of two life sentences.
