This must be the epitome of Northern Soul Music. So bloody uplifting! Just can never sit still listening to this. Great vocal and lyrics, stomping beat. What more could you want !!! Absolutely superb. Iconic! X+
Hi OneMarianne. See if you can find my other posts on those mentioned below. Reckon most Northern fans have a connection where the music is concerned. Some I new lost the faith when they got old. I got crystal clear memories of my times 35 years ago. Not wishful thinking, just fond memories of a dance hall in union. Everyone was there for one thing, to hear their favorite sounds. I don't own a single vinyl 7" now. They were all bought by the other guy I did the disco with. That's why I come here
OMG just made an old man happy I loved this track KTF many a happy weekend come down from Glasgow dance the night away go swimming sunday morning then the 1025 back to Glasgow lol I am 54 and my feet are still shuffling lol
Welcome door2. Only saying it like it was. Have posted on others including Jerry Williams, Doni Burdick, Sissie Houston, Bob and Earl, Little Anthony and the Imperials, The Shakers, Teddy Vann......57 and still wanting to stand behind those decks and play MY selection to the fans like I used to. A Northern Soul audience was one of the most appreciative I ever new. I've other music types I like, but only Northern raises the memories it does.
Tried to explain to non-soulie once why these gigs were populated by guys dancing solo, girls doing the same, not there to score or pick up the opposite, get pissed etc etc. Lost on him it was. The music, man, the bloody music. You could have had the shittiest day of your life prior to walking through the doors of the venue, but the moment this, and dozens of other top Northern sounds hit you, you just had to move to it, let it soak into you, LIVE it. Thank God Northern was "exclusive" sometimes
Great record but you need to hear the crowd clap to to get the proper feel for it see it here ... The twisted wheel Northern soul club manchester, sunday dec 13 08 Billy Butler Right Track... .Brill Keep The Faith
I do not understand when a great northern soul song is played , why people say lovely memories etc , well of course they are but northern soul as never ever died , its been with me and most of us soulies scince our youth at about 14 and has never ever gone... we still follow it and boy it has a huge following up and down the uk and abroad ......events all over the world! it will never ever " go" or leave us.....keep on keeping the faith..
hey CHILLO1231 not such an old man i am 53 and i agree with you , so many memories , the casino was the best time of my life ! , KTF old mate , john .
This was a favourite from my collection brought around '73 either from the Casino or from the Migrant Mouse record shop in Chester. Sadly all sold to pay for the nappies. Now replaced with 10 times the number of CD's. Unfortunately I'm only a 10th as fit, so I do more listening than dancing, and these records cry out to be danced to. I wish I'd known how special the time at the Casino was. You could almost drink the atmosphere.
If there were six stars available I'd award them. This is one of those almost holy records which no matter what state of mind I'm in gives me an instant lift. Northern soul is like that, genuine quality music that so vividly evokes that feeling of time and place. I salute you.
Glad you like it! I see you have "my man is a sweet man" by Millie! Check my version, it has more than 3 pics on it, lol! Thank you for your nice comment.

I've got the instrumental version of this on an Okeh 7" single. I seem to remember it was this version that everyone wanted to hear back in the 70's.
I must try and upload to the tube when I get a chance.
