Song's pretty much a note for note ripoff of 'Red Right Hand'. I'm fine if they've acknowledged it and it's sort of an homage or whatever but if this is their actual ethos then they suck
I believe the first one is correct " of the sweat and the stain of insect bites" although I don't believe it is the plural stains, but singular stain.
The next bit I think its "feel the glow like the glow on a burning / blackened ground." Can't tell I hear both burning and blackened depending on the relisten.. yah it weird.. :\
I could not find the title of this song either, but then I put lyrics into google and it popped up immediately. You can do that with great songs, that actually have lyrics, but those popular hip hop songs that have all the same lyrics in style of "fuc* me, I am hot, cool, kill" etc, you cannot find like this, there would be like about one million songs to choose between.
Mr. Splitfoot was the name of the "Spirit Guide" that teenage mediums Kate and Margaret Fox said they got their messages from. Sometime back in the 1840s. At least that's what I read.
Reading over my comment 4 months ago, I realize now I worded that question like a douchebag. When I was asking whether anyone else knew the story behind Mr. Splitfoot, I was just curious as to whether the story was a well known one or not.
@shellbellmel Just because someone doesn't like a song doesn't mean they're a troll. Maybe a friend recommended it to them, and they weren't impressed.
Although this song is competently produced, it copies a staggering number of elements from Nick Cave and the Bad Seed's Red Right Hand (an excellent song, for those unfamiliar). Everything from the mood, to the chord sequences, the vocal melodies, the lyrical theme, the organ melodies, and the musical interlude, is a near-perfect copy. If I were them, I'd be ashamed of stealing another artist's ideas and passing them off as my own.

Mr. Splitfoot, much like Old Nick or Old Scratch, may also be reference to the Devil as Satan is often depicted as having a cloven or split hoove or foot.
Mr. Splitfoot was visited by many people like Harry Houdini and P.t. Barnum. before Mr. Splitfoot no one knew ghosts could communicate inside homes. the fox sisters were the ones who named him and were the first to hear him in the house. they are still considered the mothers of spiritualism, because after people were more interested in stuff like ouija boards and séances. mediums were hired to communicate with household ghosts. and its been like this ever since.
this family in new york started hearing noises. the little girls used to get whatever was making the noises to imitate their clapping with knocks on walls and doors. the mother asked whoever was knocking to tell the ages of all 6 of her kids. it went through each childs age perfectly all in order, then continued to knock a seventh. it was the child in the family who had died at the age of 3. people across america came to hear noises from the ghost the family called Mr. Splitfoot.
Must it be either? Can't it just be because the song sounds really good? I haven't really heard of Paris Motel before, and I enjoy the sound of this. I realize that when an artist creates something that they're proud of, you should enjoy and consume everything about it, including the lyrics and possible meanings behind it, and I'm sure that's what you're getting at here, but being so radical is just ridiculous. Also, it would be nice if you shared the story! It sounds interesting.
@MrFoxInc i wasn't being radical i was just asking. whether you are watching for a song to go with a cool story, or looking for more content by the band doesn't make much difference to me i was just curious.
@yackon4game I've been doing a little bit of research on the internet because of this question in this video, and also because I was curious. Mr. Splitfoot is a spirit which comunicated with two teenagers in the year 1848, answering their questions using knocks and noises during the night.
@yackon4game who gives a shit either way? i think people put too much supposed "meaning" behind everything they do.. why does everything have to have a fuckin purpose.. maybe, (just perhaps) someone is just listening to listen.. who would of thought someone does something with no real purpose... just to do it... hmmmm new concept? i think not. ... oh and BTW i dont care about the story either..
@yackon4game mr splitfoot is a referance by the fox sisters in 1848 that they communicated with the devil [ mr splitfoot ] in thier cabin at hydesville ny,

@Spammysarceno03 when people stop giving a shit about meaning in lyrics, people like Justin bieber, and wakka flocka become huge superstars.

I wonder if Mr. Splitfoot is some kind of metaphor. Like personal insanity, or a drug-addiction or something like that.
