Dear Breeders, i wont be one of the idiots who help destroy the world :P . hopefully you people will realize why we are supposed breed, so the species wont die out, breeding isn't for your own happiness. we have way too many people, so breeding should stop :l . over population is one of the worst threats to all species :/ , just stop and think about someone other than yourself for a second, please?
thank the universe for abortion! I had an abortion and freed myself from poverty trying to raise that child by myself. extra plus: not burdening mother earth with yet another industrialized nation mouth & huge carbon footprint. Thank you for this video. As for all the traditionalists desperately holding onto your "be fruitful and multiply" mentalitys - wake up, it's not working and you are litterally sh*tting life all over this beautiful planet.
@thatbitchonskates THANK YOU!!! Someone who finally appreciates abortion. Abortion isn't murder or a crime, it frees the mother and in my view, the child too (this place isn't easy to live in. There's a reason more than 1 million people attempt to kill themselves each year). Traditionalists are against progress. More people need to realize traditions and old ideals need to be thrown away. We have multiplied too much and have made the world a Hellhole for us and animals. It needs to stop.
"Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment, but you humans do not. You move to an area, and you multiply, and multiply, until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet, you are a plague, and we are the cure."
@clrrchrd Sounds a little crazy to me, but it takes all kinds to make a world. I like to think there's reason for tragic optimism. Google search Logotherapy, Dr. Viktor Frankl.
@finishstrongdoc For the rest of the planet's sustainability, yes. There's no question the world and all life forms that exist here would thrive rather than suffer if humans were not here. The point is, human overpopulation at an exponential rate is destroying the world. Resources are finite and exhaustible. We are a species that thinks only of themselves. Live a smarter lifestyle or else.
@BS I am an avid outdoorsman, have hiked long miles on long trails for over 40 yrs, & I see nature as being "boom & bust" more than steady state, which I think most think of when they imagine a world w/o ppl. Extinction of species is horrendous to me, but I think of nature as having more resilience than most. It's hard to grasp the measurement of species loss on the whole,and I'm never sure we have all the facts at hand to say if ppl were eliminated (unlikely) that past losses would be made up
@finishstrongdoc Suicide of existing people is very different (and far less desirable) than preventing the creation of excessive numbers of new people.
@finishstrongdoc Earth's carrying capacity is 1 billion, so we're roughly 7 times over the limit. There are no "wrong people." It's our parents' fault we're here. But it's up to us to ensure that we don't parent MORE excessive people.
Who gets to decide who are the ones having too many children? Would human suffering cease if all who had sexual relations were regulated, classified, certified as fit to breed? Which breeding stock is most likely to be the ones to end human, plant and animal suffering?
@finishstrongdoc No decision necessary. We're ALL having too many children. Human suffering will never cease as long as humans exist. As such, no "breeding stock" (?!) is most likely to be the ones to end human suffering.
Bottom line: we can halve the population in 50 years if we become more responsible about family planning. Half of all pregnancies are unintentional. If we can prevent those, we will be making excellent progress.
If we halve the population in 50 years, will human,plant and animal suffering be halved as well? If that goal isn't reached in 50 years, what are the immediate strategies that human leaders should employ to prevent the disasters that are predicted? Is it possible to redistribute suffering, so that no one is suffering unnecessarily, unequally? What strategies should be employed NOW to redistribute suffering? Is a carbon tax just such a strategy?
@finishstrongdoc If there are only half as many humans on the earth in 50 years, then it could possibly be assumed that human suffering would be halved, since only half as many humans would be available in order to experience suffering. I can't speak to plant or animal suffering, although I'd imagine that with a significantly reduced human impact, their suffering would be reduced as well.
Wouldn't it be better to try to find a way to increase happiness to an equal, shared level of happiness? If people in poverty are unhappy, shouldn't people living in luxury be forced to become unhappy by giving away their unhappy possessions to those who aren't happy? Shouldn't all production of goods be distributed evenly so no one is too happy or too unhappy? The carrying capacity of the planet would then be equally shared by all;no one would be to blame.
@finishstrongdoc You keep trying to corner me into a redistribution-of-wealth thing when that's not the point at all. There are PHYSICAL LIMITS to how many people the earth can support. That's a fact. When we keep adding people, each of us can enjoy less and less, because there are a finite amount of resources available. Period.
@finishstrongdoc Compare sharing a pie with 10 people, with sharing that same pie with 1,000. You should get the point rather quickly. Now keep adding people and try to share that same pie. Have fun.
If it could be shown that at this time because of modern farming methods there is now enough food to feed the world & that hunger is caused not by lack of production but other factors, could we then take fertility rates off the table & stop blaming maternity as the problem? Haven't we had "worldwide famine" dates come and go? Shouldn't there be a balanced # of old/new ppl ? Aren't some countries exper'ing demographic implosions?
Are murder/suicide/war/famine scenarios avoidable?
@finishstrongdoc Modern farming methods involve intensive inputs of fossil fuels, which, again, are FINITE and running out very quickly, not to mention completely denuding the soil itself from its natural microbes and nutrients. Hunger is caused by many factors, but look again at the "pie" comparisons I posted earlier. Sharing a FINITE amount of food with more and more people and expecting everyone to be fed is kind of dumb.
@finishstrongdoc I insist on population reduction (not control) even though "hunger is caused by many factors" because hunger is not the only problem. Resource depletion, human destruction of animal habitat, etc. are other problems that are directly caused by overpopulation.
Someone who has no children can tell others not to have children if the child-less person has strong convictions surrounding their decision. We're all allowed to try to convince others of our opinions.
Divorce causes destruction of animal habitat(sep housing units=+ carbon footprint) & larger families that share resources prevent urban sprawl. Balanced male/female populations prevent wars of aggression; men who are happy tend not to be as aggressive as men who aren't; women make men happy, sex-selection abortion creates imbalance ratio. I insist on population control, as in hypnotic, brainwash type control.
@finishstrongdoc Your arguments sure are weird. Divorce causes destruction of animal habitat? LOL. Because divorcees always immediately go and build their own house, right? Hooboy.
If wars are caused by an unhappy balance of males/females, why isn't Alaska (107.0 sex ratio in 2011) attacking everyone?
Go ahead and insist on hypnotic brainwash type control; you won't get very far. What I'm advocating is 100% voluntary.
Rational is now weird, then? It's very solid argument & only indifference to the real world can avoid that truth, which is, I'm afraid, a characteristic of utopian thinkers like yourself.
Lotsa really independent folks in AK...ask them how they keep a lid on it...a cultural thing, I'd suspect...or Christian, both.
Still insisting on "brainwash". VHE isn't a Christian concept, I can assure you...that's another dystopian nightmare, like Sir Francis Galton's " Kantsaywhere"
Another thing I've always wanted to ask a popC person about: Once the pop gets down to the right # of ppl for the carrying capacity of good ol mother earth, how can all these sacrifices of lives be justified if, then, those remaining ppl "blow it" so to speak, and end up using nuclear weapons to split the planet in half and send it careering into the sun?
@finishstrongdoc Well darn, what if we try to create a better world for nothing! Why try to make anything better then, since future people could "blow it all" anyhow? This is a silly argument.
You can't "sacrifice" a life that doesn't exist, as is the case when one decides not to have children.
You cannot sacrifice a life that does exist, true. But you may sacrifice your life when you kill a child in the womb that could have saved your life once it was born. This is the same as the above scenario: MORE lives will needlessly have to be taken NOW so that FEWER lives will be lost in the future. The death rate remains constant: 1 per person. What we are really arguing id QUALITY of life,which is not quantifiable. Who are the "experts" on "Quality of Life"? A "Death Panel" ?
I have visited happy homes with children that need constant care, and the love was not quantifiable. I know of one family that had a child who was brain-damaged at 3yrs old from a fall in a pool & later in life, that child was said to perform miraculous healings, tho she couldn't move. Audrey Santo google it.
Do u really think,with all the new STD's extant, that xceptives had nothing to do with their rise? U must think I'm gullible or something...maybe brainwashed?
@finishstrongdoc You didn't say love. You said quality of life.
Contraceptives (is it really so hard a word to spell?) PREVENT STDs. Clue #1 that you're being terribly unscientific (and probably influenced by religion).
Clue #2: now you're talking about miraculous healings, so you're definitely gullible. This conversation is over.
Miracles happen...because they happen. What's unscientific about that? Can't measure a miracle? I suspect that's what's gotten into you; that you can't accept anything that can't be put under a microscope, or replicated in a lab.
CONTRACEPTIVES= Contra: against.....Conceptus: child (Against the child)
..and contraceptives do kill...they killed the two I fathered; IUD's can fail to prevent "breakthrough ovulation" and the womb is made inhospitable (desert-like) for the conceptus (child), and they starve/dehydrate to death. THOSE lives were taken, & the chain of reasoning WAS connected to the hype you've provided with your video. I'm now a better and wiser person for having gotten the truth.
@finishstrongdoc An egg is not a chicken. An acorn is not a tree. A silkworm's cocoon is not a dress. And a fertilized human egg (conceptus) is not a person (child). This is not a difficult concept. Please go away.
Calling an unborn person a blob of cells is name calling, but at least once you fearmongering baby-haters got it right: we're ALL blobs of cells....from the moment of conception to natural death.
...or worse, even, could be the scenario where those remaining persons, the right # and the right breeding stock and all, how do we know they won't be greedy and make life more miserable than even before, when there was the "right#" of ppl on the earth...what # are we looking for 500 million? That was in 1892, right...thinking back...gas lights....coal burning stoves....dense populations...hmmmmm...not a rosy picture. Are you against modernism, or is this sort of a "Jetsons" scenario?
I'm not against modernism, in fact I'm for an even more modern approach that uses new technology to build upon old knowledge like permaculture to make TRULY sustainable solutions to problems. We're smarter now, we have more knowledge; there's no reason not to combine the best of both worlds.
@finishstrongdoc "Worldwide famine" dates are silly, too, much like Christians trying to predict the Rapture.
Although most systems of providing for retired citizens are financed by taxing working citizens, the concept of needing younger people to support older people is obsolete. If used responsibly, products from the industrial and technological revolutions could satisfy our needs without selling our children into wage slavery.
Serious thinkers like Ehrlich predicted worldwide famine in 2000, and it didn't happen, yet we have huge segments of the West depopulating thru abortion, sterilization, -ception, with ppl fulfilling natural sexual urges unnaturally b/c of the godawful scares about dire future scenarios which u repeat here. What if larger families are needed just to prevent economic collapse,such as in Africa where infrastructure is spotty? Seems unworkable there,and will need force to comply w/ur plan
@finishstrongdoc Ehrlich said in 2009: "the biggest tactical error in The Bomb was the use of scenarios, stories designed to help one think about the future. Although we clearly stated that they were not predictions and that “we can be sure that none of them will come true as stated,’ (p. 72)—their failure to occur is often cited as a failure of prediction. (cont'd)
@LaliaTK (cont'd from previous) In honesty, the scenarios were way off, especially in their timing (we underestimated the resilience of the world system). But they did deal with future issues that people in 1968 should have been thinking about – famines, plagues, water shortages, armed international interventions by the United States, and nuclear winter (e.g., Ehrlich et al. 1983, Toon et al. 2007)—all events that have occurred or now still threaten.
@finishstrongdoc The natural sexual urge is for sex, not for children.
Are you really advocating using Africa as a pattern for combating economic collapse? I had a giggle at that one.
Force is not required. Like I said before, half of all pregnancies are unintentional. If we prevent those (even the African ones) we will be ahead of the game.
Your half-truth is killing people, did you know that? The natural sexual urge is for both reproduction and bonding; catch up!! Hormonal b/c confuses the "signals" (pheremones, oxytocin,etc) that are exchanged in the attraction, marital embrace stages of male/female relations.
If westerners insist on Africans using our birth rate levels, Africa will die off, and the resources will be taken by globalists to feed their utopian dreams Wake up !!
Force is already being used. USAID teams go into African villages and insist on sterilizing women so the children can be treated for malaria, which, by the way, could have been prevented had not westerners insisted that DDT was a deadly substance that would bring on a nightmare " Silent Spring" scenario.
@finishstrongdoc Murder/suicide/war/famine scenarios are never preventable. But their likelihoods can be drastically reduced via reducing our population.
While no one can know for sure,aren't some of these wars/famines/suicide/murder scenarios due to scare tactics of globalists who control media & minds? What's wrong w/ ignoring the fearmongers and keeping scare tactics out when they're only making bad things happen, not preventing them? Is life a zero-sum game where for one to win, another has to lose? If so, then yes we must try 2 gamble so all win or all lose. When taking the ZPG approach, it's only a gamble based on faith after all.
@finishstrongdoc Nothing wrong with ignoring fearmongers & keeping scare tactics out. But I fail to see how promoting population reduction is "making bad things happen."
Your zero-sum question sounds like something you should discuss with a philosophy major.
Bad philosophy is just what your little movie here is all about...and you are a fearmonger...so I guess you just proved my point about zombie-like brainwashing, huh? You can't ignore yourself.
@finishstrongdoc Bad philosophy is in the eye of the beholder. I happen to think that your philosophy is pretty crummy.
If I'm a fearmonger, you're a name-caller. I'll let future readers of our little debate decide that for themselves. I rely on facts; you rely on dogma.
Population: The last taboo. Unless we can discuss it openly, without be sidetracked by the Evil West/Evil Rich (who Must Not Breed) vs the Oppressed Rest (who must be allowed to have as many children as they like)..... There can be no hope for the planet. Too many humans; too few resources. West OR east, rich OR poor.
@VeryNeatMonsta I'm 15 and I want to be sterilized also. If somebody older than me can't get it I highly doubt it I could. I honestly hate being a girl, I hate that I even have the ability to get pregnant.
I'd died before I gave my baby the rest of this century. People popping out new 1st-worlders from now on are the most selfish humans in history, ever.
But.....if I don't breed.....what the hell am I supposed to do with myself? I have all this angst and ignorance about the world and my future. Won't a cute little baby make me happy and content? I just want to wear my mindless smile and say all the same things everyone else says
Funny and yet incredibly depressing. And yet the doc won't sterilise me because I'm "too young and I'll regret it". Instead he'll allow myself to pump myself full of hormones til I'm too old to breed. *sigh*
@VeryNeatMonsta look for a different doctor. If your current doc can't respect your decisions about YOUR OWN BODY, it's time to find someone who will.
@LaliaTK Love this propaganda, I just can't wait, I have 9 kids and no liberal/communist that i know has any.My kids will outlive, out-vote out-anything all the nothings that you lamebrains offer, thanks for vacating the world for my spawn and killing off your own to make room for mine, youR spawn would be nothing but weak stupid trash anyway. THANK YOU ALL SOOOOOO MUCH!
@LaliaTK YOU SLIMEBAG YOU NEED TO PROVE THAT YOU ARE BARREN AND WILL NEVER BEAR A CHILD, WE DON'T NEED OR WANT YOUR OFFSHOOTS YOU SLIME- BAG. MY CHILDREN ARE MANY, AND THEY ARE BEARING MANY, AND THEY ARE RICH, THEY NEED MORE LAND, YOU PIGS NEED TO PASS FROM HERE, ....BARREN...DO YOU HEAR ME?! .....BARREN..... STAY THAT WAY, YOU INFERIOR BROOD OF SWINELETS. NOW GET THE FUCK OFF MY WORLD YOU MITE. DON'T BE FUCKING AND BEARING YOUR PIGLETS. THIS GOES FOR ALL LIBERAL ASSHOLES.
I hope you've learned how to turn off caps lock with in the last three weeks, sweety. It doesn't exactly get your point across any clearer than lower case letters. :)
@VeryNeatMonsta keep seacrching by any means, trash like you needs to be barren, find somebody to sterilize you. pleeeeeze don't ever have anything like you.. sew up you pussy if you have to.
@Tequilafuzz I'M SOOOO GLAD TO KNOW YOU ARE BARREN. AND I'M CERTAIN ANY SEX YOU HAVE IS FILTHY. GET DISINFECTED. USE A BOLUS OF PENICILLIN AND DOUCHE WITH BLEACH AND POVEDONE IODINE ( FULL STRENGTH) MAYBE YOU WON'T BE QUITE AS FILTHY. BUT REMAIN BARREN, NO WORLD NEEDS YOUR SEED. THANKS. ( PLEASE DON'T SIT ON PUBLIC TOILETS OR BENCHES.
REMEMBER TO SPAY AND NEUTER YOUR LIBERALS TODAY!!
That's kind of the whole point. We're smart enough to realize we shouldn't be breeding and aren't entitled to overpopulate this earth without that having consequences. So yes. Our objective is essentially to spare the lives of children and keep ourselves out of the gene pool. :)
*sigh* I too was rejected thinking the lady wouldn't bingo me all the way to hell. She just kept making up shit about women changing their mind, without flinching and without statistics. She was more than happy to give me some shitty alternatives so i could act "surprised" if i ever got knocked up though. It was sad really. I wasted $30 in copay, but my search for a doc who will sterilize me will NOT end any time soon. :D
Why, WHY do so many of these desperate wannabreeders never even give adoption a thought? I mean, we've got millions of children in this country alone in adoption homes who think the best gift they could ever receive is a set of loving parents. But the breeders never, ever think about it. They HAVE to produce their own child, they HAVE to take part in the "miracle of life". These children cannot produce their own parents.
It's cruel, it's senseless, and it's just freaking sad to see that. These people claim that adoption is too expensive...and then blow $50k on fertility treatments and put the wannabe mom through nine months of constant risks to her health. I mean morning sickness, gestational diabetes, blood imbalances, possible birth defects for the child, etc. And then there's vaginal prolapse, uterine prolapse, rectoceles, cystoceles and urethroceles all during childbirth.
@AnimaSeverem Because that way (by adoption) they support the selfishness of other wannabe breeders who even didn't want their own offspring in their life. And what about various susceptibilities inherited by adoptees? The fear of unknown is irrational, but it's still there.
The reason theres so many dumb people in the world is because only the stupid have lots of kids, not putting into consideration the fact that they wont beable to afford them and ultimately ruining the lives of themselves and others since theyre stupid and so there children will probably be stupid too, making the world a dumber place everyday.
Suburban sprawl is the real problem depicted here ; most who "move out to the country" are actually WUSSIES who then expect/demand every convience of A CITY to follow them (just ,"not in their backyard") therefore,they DRIVE their EMPTY trucks-SUV's everywhere.
Bah. Why is this issue always framed as Big Bad Mankind versus Peaceful, Harmonious Mother Nature? Last I checked, nature was ugly and cruel and full of unspeakable suffering, with or without human interference. Ideally, ALL sentient life would go extinct.
i believe there should be a one child policy, it has supposedly prevented 250,000 births in china in the last decade. that would work wonders if it were implemented all over the world
@Armzan Of course it would, but then the brainwashed population would rebel. How can we dare to limit their rights to have kids? Who cares about the planet anyways? Everything that matters is that we have children. It's such a glorious purpose of life...Yeah right.
This is Truth but you sholud know that we can't kill all babies of the world 'couse they haven't fault about this, the people that make this are his parents. And of we depend that this continue or not, also we should learn to our children to love and to protege our earth mother..
Brilliant! Loved the visuals and the message! Overpopulation+ narcissism run amuck! I don't care what religion you are or what race you are or whether you're rich or poor, stop having so many babies! Thank you!
GENIUS!!!! Great message. I'm not sure them stupid bitches in heat will understand it. The worst thing is that they managed to drag men into their maternal hysteria. (and I'm a girl!!)
@313Antares You really made me crack up! But I know what you mean. I don't understand this baby obsession girls have. You do NOT need a baby to feel complete as a woman.
@shumila I'm so glad you feel the same. It makes me sad to see that so many otherwise smart girls my age are crazed over babies. I personally know and hope will never have one.
@313Antares Haha. My friends thought i'm crazy when I first told them I will never have kids. (oh no you're smart, you should have kids! you will find meaning in life!) After a speech about environmentalism and genetics, a few of them are re-evaluating their decision :) I feel like i've done my bit for humanity already.
lorost ok: but i hope the people with children die first; of course they will use the 'i have kids' card to survive at others; expense. .re; the comment after destruction the earth wil clean itself up, repopulate, etc
overpopulatation another myth do you know why cus we will soon die and new diseases are being produced also greed of medc countries taking from ledc countries but not giving so people starv
i was 5 years old many decades ago when i realized that same fact and i announced to everyone that was present that i was never having kids. i lived up to that in spite of all the flack and bullying i got from people of both genders for my different choices in life. :P
@inbetweentics "i was 5 years old many decades ago...i can identlfy with you. at 3,i knew i didn't want children but got the same old "you;ll change you mind when you get older" here i am at 46 & no kids. LOL
Great video! With just 2 billion on the planet everyone could consume as much as a European with no long term damage occuring to the environment. However as we have 7 billion and growing there is no hope of the poor escaping poverty. The solution? Increase voluntary contraception funding so that evryone who wants access has it and reduce unintended pregnancies (almost 3 million in the US alone last year, 48% of the total pregnancies) p.s. Look up overconsumpulation.
Great, cute video. Of course, overpopulation is a recognized problem, and is the root cause for most of the modern challenges that humanity faces. But, humans are just like any other animal, and will populate until all available resources are consumed. What then follows is the real tradgedy, as a realistic population equilibrium is established. This will occur, since there is no political will to stop it, and there are groups that promote population growth without concern for the consequences.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Shame the author of this video can't see that people create more than they consume, and that life is a blessing. Also, the kind of people who do threaten our high standard of FREE living continue to have an average of 6-8 children, most of which they cannot afford to support themselves. Wake up white people! lol
@ArtsandLetters70 - You're "high" and out of touch with reality if you think increasing populations produce more than they consume. I do agree with you that life is a blessing, and I feel extremely fortunate to have been born in the 20th centrury, as the 21st century will be extremely difficult for most people (with human population expected to exceed 10 bilion).
@zzz12345678a0 It's to do with people acquiring knowledge and skills that creates value and wealth. How do you think the US went from a wilderness to a behemoth?
It wasn't through 'zero population' schemes. Have guts, transmit your values to the next generation if you are willing. Folks who aren't into it shouldn't be harrassed however.
@ArtsandLetters70 you are nothing but selfish and only care about yourself. you will never change, and neither will most humans. you are to blame. thanks!
Counting on technology to squeeze more and more out of the planet cant go on forever! Yet, the republicans (the biggest purveyors of this philosophy actually hate science)
@GODKNOTT Would this technology you refer to be, say, a cleaner, safer, more efficient source of energy? Because I, for one, am in full support of that.
@JayOleck I was thinking about the vertical farmscrapers, but there’s also the issue of: everybody wants everything, just not near “their home”, they’ve protested the location of wind farms in Maine etc., and of course no state wants to aceppt nuclear waste, everyone wants, wants, Mazlow’s hierarchy of needs, anyone?
@GODKNOTT Also, it’s not so simple, is it? The Japanese are trying to INCREASE!! Their birthrate, wtf they’re already packed in like sardines. Then in Europe the scare is: Muslims multiplying like rabbits and increasing their voting power. Whoa !!
Someone please tell me that this video is not meant to be taken seriously. I'm all for a drop in the human population, more responsible breeding and education of safe sex & abortion in the highly populated third world countries (and in the U.S as well,) but holy crap, some people take it too far!
An overall, worldwide cease in human breeding is simply not going to happen. The sooner you accept that and get your head out of the clouds, the sooner we can move on to more realistic solutions.
@theskepticsskeptic I freely admit that the Earth is overpopulated and should be addressed. I applaud China and their "one child" policy (two, I think would be slightly more reasonable, but that's just my opinion.) What gets to me is when people overreact with their gloom and doom attitudes. Talking about it is one thing. Shouting is quite another. There's gotta be a middle ground here somewhere.
If I sounded angry in that posting, I think I was just in a mood that day.
@JayOleck Yeah, when an issue is so rarely discussed, sometime it takes a little shock value to stir things up, I tried to post one my songs as video response, but this user didnt approve it go figure
@GODKNOTT Well, from the looks of it, it doesn't look like you're alone. Nobody seems to have a video response on here. I agree that shock value is an effective way of getting people talking. The only downside is that sometimes it works a little TOO well with some folks, causing them to run around like chickens with their heads cut off instead of coming up with rational solutions.
Nail on the head. Stop reproducing for self gratification people!!!

@thatbitchonskates THANK YOU!!! Someone who finally appreciates abortion. Abortion isn't murder or a crime, it frees the mother and in my view, the child too (this place isn't easy to live in.

LaliaTK 1 month ago
@LaliaTK
How many is too many, and which ones are the wrong people?
Still confused
finishstrongdoc 1 month ago
@finishstrongdoc Earth's carrying capacity is 1 billion, so we're roughly 7 times over the limit. There are no "wrong people." It's our parents' fault we're here. But it's up to us to ensure that we don't parent MORE excessive people.
LaliaTK 1 month ago
@LaliaTK
Who gets to decide who are the ones having too many children? Would human suffering cease if all who had sexual relations were regulated, classified, certified as fit to breed? Which breeding stock is most likely to be the ones to end human, plant and animal suffering?
More confused
finishstrongdoc 1 month ago
@finishstrongdoc No decision necessary. We're ALL having too many children. Human suffering will never cease as long as humans exist. As such, no "breeding stock" (?!) is most likely to be the ones to end human suffering.
Bottom line: we can halve the population in 50 years if we become more responsible about family planning. Half of all pregnancies are unintentional. If we can prevent those, we will be making excellent progress.
LaliaTK 1 month ago
@LaliaTK
Anxious for reply
finishstrongdoc 1 month ago
@finishstrongdoc If there are only half as many humans on the earth in 50 years, then it could possibly be assumed that human suffering would be halved, since only half as many humans would be available in order to experience suffering. I can't speak to plant or animal suffering, although I'd imagine that with a significantly reduced human impact, their suffering would be reduced as well.
LaliaTK 1 month ago
@finishstrongdoc
The rest of your questions are interesting. I don't know that it's possible to redistribute suffering.
LaliaTK 1 month ago
@LaliaTK
Hopefully you'll share
finishstrongdoc 1 month ago
@finishstrongdoc You keep trying to corner me into a redistribution-of-wealth thing when that's not the point at all. There are PHYSICAL LIMITS to how many people the earth can support. That's a fact. When we keep adding people, each of us can enjoy less and less, because there are a finite amount of resources available. Period.
LaliaTK 1 month ago
@finishstrongdoc Compare sharing a pie with 10 people, with sharing that same pie with 1,000. You should get the point rather quickly. Now keep adding people and try to share that same pie. Have fun.

@LaliaTK
Help !
finishstrongdoc 1 month ago
@finishstrongdoc Modern farming methods involve intensive inputs of fossil fuels, which, again, are FINITE and running out very quickly, not to mention completely denuding the soil itself from its natural microbes and nutrients. Hunger is caused by many factors, but look again at the "pie" comparisons I posted earlier. Sharing a FINITE amount of food with more and more people and expecting everyone to be fed is kind of dumb.
LaliaTK 1 month ago

finishstrongdoc 1 month ago
@finishstrongdoc I insist on population reduction (not control) even though "hunger is caused by many factors" because hunger is not the only problem. Resource depletion, human destruction of animal habitat, etc. are other problems that are directly caused by overpopulation.
Someone who has no children can tell others not to have children if the child-less person has strong convictions surrounding their decision. We're all allowed to try to convince others of our opinions.
LaliaTK 1 month ago
@LaliaTK
I insist on population control, as in hypnotic, brainwash type control.
finishstrongdoc 1 month ago
@finishstrongdoc Your arguments sure are weird. Divorce causes destruction of animal habitat? LOL. Because divorcees always immediately go and build their own house, right? Hooboy.
If wars are caused by an unhappy balance of males/females, why isn't Alaska (107.0 sex ratio in 2011) attacking everyone?
Go ahead and insist on hypnotic brainwash type control; you won't get very far. What I'm advocating is 100% voluntary.
LaliaTK 1 month ago
@LaliaTK

@LaliaTK
Another thing I've always wanted to ask a popC person about: Once the pop gets down to the right # of ppl for the carrying capacity of good ol mother earth, how can all these sacrifices of lives be justified if, then, those remaining ppl "blow it" so to speak, and end up using nuclear weapons to split the planet in half and send it careering into the sun?
still fearful of the path before us...
finishstrongdoc 1 month ago
@finishstrongdoc Well darn, what if we try to create a better world for nothing! Why try to make anything better then, since future people could "blow it all" anyhow? This is a silly argument.
You can't "sacrifice" a life that doesn't exist, as is the case when one decides not to have children.
LaliaTK 1 month ago
@LaliaTK
A "Death Panel" ?
finishstrongdoc 1 month ago
@finishstrongdoc CORRECTION:"You cannot sacrifice a life that doesn't exist"
finishstrongdoc 1 month ago
@finishstrongdoc You can't kill a "child" (fetus) that is not in the womb to begin with. Most contraceptives prevent impregnation to begin with.
NO lives will have to be TAKEN. Please get that through your head.
I recommend that you visit a family with a loved one in a permanent vegetative state and talk to them about how quality of life is not quantifiable.
LaliaTK 1 month ago
@LaliaTK
U must think I'm gullible or something...maybe brainwashed?
finishstrongdoc 1 month ago
@finishstrongdoc You didn't say love. You said quality of life.
Contraceptives (is it really so hard a word to spell?) PREVENT STDs. Clue #1 that you're being terribly unscientific (and probably influenced by religion).
Clue #2: now you're talking about miraculous healings, so you're definitely gullible. This conversation is over.
LaliaTK 1 month ago
@LaliaTK
Miracles happen...because they happen. What's unscientific about that? Can't measure a miracle? I suspect that's what's gotten into you; that you can't accept anything that can't be put under a microscope, or replicated in a lab.
CONTRACEPTIVES= Contra: against.....Conceptus: child (Against the child)
finishstrongdoc 1 month ago
@LaliaTK
..and contraceptives do kill...they killed the two I fathered; IUD's can fail to prevent "breakthrough ovulation" and the womb is made inhospitable (desert-like) for the conceptus (child), and they starve/dehydrate to death. THOSE lives were taken, & the chain of reasoning WAS connected to the hype you've provided with your video. I'm now a better and wiser person for having gotten the truth.
finishstrongdoc 1 month ago
@finishstrongdoc An egg is not a chicken. An acorn is not a tree. A silkworm's cocoon is not a dress. And a fertilized human egg (conceptus) is not a person (child). This is not a difficult concept. Please go away.
LaliaTK 1 month ago
@LaliaTK
And a rat is not a pig is not a boy.
Calling an unborn person a blob of cells is name calling, but at least once you fearmongering baby-haters got it right: we're ALL blobs of cells....from the moment of conception to natural death.

@LaliaTK
...or worse, even, could be the scenario where those remaining persons, the right # and the right breeding stock and all, how do we know they won't be greedy and make life more miserable than even before, when there was the "right#" of ppl on the earth...what # are we looking for 500 million? That was in 1892, right...thinking back...gas lights....coal burning stoves....dense populations...hmmmmm...not a rosy picture. Are you against modernism, or is this sort of a "Jetsons" scenario?
finishstrongdoc 1 month ago
@finishstrongdoc There you go with "breeding stock" again.
The number we're looking for is 1 billion.
I'm not against modernism, in fact I'm for an even more modern approach that uses new technology to build upon old knowledge like permaculture to make TRULY sustainable solutions to problems. We're smarter now, we have more knowledge; there's no reason not to combine the best of both worlds.
LaliaTK 1 month ago
@LaliaTK
How do we get children? And your caption says BREED, yes? "Breeding Stock" it is then ( unless you want to change that above).
Wouldn't a better idea be to just leave nations to decide for themselves what they'd like to borrow from "advanced" cultures?
And Ehrlich was way off because he didn't think of people as ppl, but sort of like chess pieces in a game, or numbers on a graph. Certainly not ppl.
finishstrongdoc 1 month ago
@finishstrongdoc "Worldwide famine" dates are silly, too, much like Christians trying to predict the Rapture.
Although most systems of providing for retired citizens are financed by taxing working citizens, the concept of needing younger people to support older people is obsolete. If used responsibly, products from the industrial and technological revolutions could satisfy our needs without selling our children into wage slavery.
LaliaTK 1 month ago
@LaliaTK
Seems unworkable there,and will need force to comply w/ur plan
finishstrongdoc 1 month ago
@finishstrongdoc Ehrlich said in 2009: "the biggest tactical error in The Bomb was the use of scenarios, stories designed to help one think about the future. Although we clearly stated that they were not predictions and that “we can be sure that none of them will come true as stated,’ (p. 72)—their failure to occur is often cited as a failure of prediction. (cont'd)
LaliaTK 1 month ago
@LaliaTK (cont'd from previous) In honesty, the scenarios were way off, especially in their timing (we underestimated the resilience of the world system). But they did deal with future issues that people in 1968 should have been thinking about – famines, plagues, water shortages, armed international interventions by the United States, and nuclear winter (e.g., Ehrlich et al. 1983, Toon et al. 2007)—all events that have occurred or now still threaten.
LaliaTK 1 month ago
@finishstrongdoc The natural sexual urge is for sex, not for children.
Are you really advocating using Africa as a pattern for combating economic collapse? I had a giggle at that one.
Force is not required. Like I said before, half of all pregnancies are unintentional. If we prevent those (even the African ones) we will be ahead of the game.
LaliaTK 1 month ago
@LaliaTK
Your half-truth is killing people, did you know that? The natural sexual urge is for both reproduction and bonding; catch up!! Hormonal b/c confuses the "signals" (pheremones, oxytocin,etc) that are exchanged in the attraction, marital embrace stages of male/female relations.
If westerners insist on Africans using our birth rate levels, Africa will die off, and the resources will be taken by globalists to feed their utopian dreams Wake up !!
finishstrongdoc 1 month ago
@LaliaTK
Force is already being used. USAID teams go into African villages and insist on sterilizing women so the children can be treated for malaria, which, by the way, could have been prevented had not westerners insisted that DDT was a deadly substance that would bring on a nightmare " Silent Spring" scenario.
finishstrongdoc 1 month ago
@finishstrongdoc Murder/suicide/war/famine scenarios are never preventable. But their likelihoods can be drastically reduced via reducing our population.
LaliaTK 1 month ago
@LaliaTK
When taking the ZPG approach, it's only a gamble based on faith after all.
finishstrongdoc 1 month ago
@finishstrongdoc Nothing wrong with ignoring fearmongers & keeping scare tactics out. But I fail to see how promoting population reduction is "making bad things happen."
Your zero-sum question sounds like something you should discuss with a philosophy major.
LaliaTK 1 month ago
@LaliaTK
Bad philosophy is just what your little movie here is all about...and you are a fearmonger...so I guess you just proved my point about zombie-like brainwashing, huh? You can't ignore yourself.
finishstrongdoc 1 month ago
@finishstrongdoc Bad philosophy is in the eye of the beholder. I happen to think that your philosophy is pretty crummy.
If I'm a fearmonger, you're a name-caller. I'll let future readers of our little debate decide that for themselves. I rely on facts; you rely on dogma.
LaliaTK 1 month ago
Population: The last taboo. Unless we can discuss it openly, without be sidetracked by the Evil West/Evil Rich (who Must Not Breed) vs the Oppressed Rest (who must be allowed to have as many children as they like)..... There can be no hope for the planet. Too many humans; too few resources. West OR east, rich OR poor.

So many people are desperate to have kids.
AnimaSeverem 1 year ago 9
It's cruel, it's senseless, and it's just freaking sad to see that. These people claim that adoption is too expensive...and then blow $50k on fertility treatments and put the wannabe mom through nine months of constant risks to her health. I mean morning sickness, gestational diabetes, blood imbalances, possible birth defects for the child, etc. And then there's vaginal prolapse, uterine prolapse, rectoceles, cystoceles and urethroceles all during childbirth.
AnimaSeverem 1 year ago 4
Rectoceles, cystoceles and urethroceles are basically when the wall of your rectum, bladder or urethra herniate into your vagina.
tl;dr Cooch hernias. Let that image fester in your mind for a while, and then tell me whether or not you still wanna get pregnant and give birth.
AnimaSeverem 1 year ago 2
@AnimaSeverem Because that way (by adoption) they support the selfishness of other wannabe breeders who even didn't want their own offspring in their life. And what about various susceptibilities inherited by adoptees? The fear of unknown is irrational, but it's still there.
MindstormBlue 1 year ago
The reason theres so many dumb people in the world is because only the stupid have lots of kids, not putting into consideration the fact that they wont beable to afford them and ultimately ruining the lives of themselves and others since theyre stupid and so there children will probably be stupid too, making the world a dumber place everyday.

@juliadennehy You sound just like every other self-centered zero-population droid.

@juliadennehy And what's with the spelling of 'child'? Even mother goats write it as 'kids.' lol

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Shame the author of this video can't see that people create more than they consume, and that life is a blessing. Also, the kind of people who do threaten our high standard of FREE living continue to have an average of 6-8 children, most of which they cannot afford to support themselves. Wake up white people! lol

@ArtsandLetters70 the sheer amount of non-facts in your "argument" say much more than I ever could.

@LaliaTK
I was thinking the same as you LaliaTK.
It is amazing, how some people, insist on disqualifying themselves from intelligent debate, before you even type a word.

@ArtsandLetters70 and its a damn shame you dont realize that life aint fluffy and cute all the time.

@ArtsandLetters70 It's not an argument, it's an attitude.
An attitude of appreciation for the miracle of life, hardships and all.

GODKNOTT 1 year ago 3
@GODKNOTT Would this technology you refer to be, say, a cleaner, safer, more efficient source of energy? Because I, for one, am in full support of that.

@JayOleck I was thinking about the vertical farmscrapers, but there’s also the issue of: everybody wants everything, just not near “their home”, they’ve protested the location of wind farms in Maine etc., and of course no state wants to aceppt nuclear waste, everyone wants, wants, Mazlow’s hierarchy of needs, anyone?
GODKNOTT 1 year ago

@JayOleck Being afraid to talk about over-population isnt going to get us anywhere either, in the mean time the earth is not getting any bigger
theskepticsskeptic 1 year ago
@theskepticsskeptic I freely admit that the Earth is overpopulated and should be addressed. I applaud China and their "one child" policy (two, I think would be slightly more reasonable, but that's just my opinion.) What gets to me is when people overreact with their gloom and doom attitudes. Talking about it is one thing. Shouting is quite another. There's gotta be a middle ground here somewhere.
If I sounded angry in that posting, I think I was just in a mood that day.
JayOleck 1 year ago
@JayOleck Yeah, when an issue is so rarely discussed, sometime it takes a little shock value to stir things up, I tried to post one my songs as video response, but this user didnt approve it go figure
theskepticsskeptic 1 year ago
@theskepticsskeptic May I ask the reason, or do you know? Perhaps it wasn't extreme enough.
JayOleck 1 year ago
@JayOleck no, i don't know, it just said: pending approval and kept checking back and my video response never made it through
GODKNOTT 1 year ago
@GODKNOTT Well, from the looks of it, it doesn't look like you're alone. Nobody seems to have a video response on here. I agree that shock value is an effective way of getting people talking. The only downside is that sometimes it works a little TOO well with some folks, causing them to run around like chickens with their heads cut off instead of coming up with rational solutions.
