points are made, but its relevant, local auto makers could be acting as control for price at home, IF we were only importing, prices on cars could go a lot higher.....
Wouldn't it have been something if, instead of giving the 700billion to gov. agencies and programs and giving billions to the auto industry, if the administration gave it's money back to the tax payers. that would have been so nice. But...oh well.
one good thing about 0bama's economic plan...it will make America a 3rd world country. when that happens, there will be no reason for Mexicans to come here because the US will be just a poor as Mexico. At least 0bama is working on keeping illegal aliens out of the country, but what a price.

I have an idea......Forget the tax cut......How about...Cut us all a check and tell us where to pick it up......Oh and make it real easy to cash.....Just makes sense to me.....
America has the highest corp. tax rate. Lowering them has PROVEN to ignite the economy -- increasing them has PROVEN the opposite. Bush did NOT give bigger tax cuts to the wealthy. The media has brainwashed the ignorant. In fact, taxes for the wealthy actually INCREASED under Bush.
Read up on history, tax cuts stimulate, tax increases of any kind kill jobs. Look up the Roosevelt recession. Look up the recession of 1920-1923.
All partisanship aside, we have enabled this president to do more long-term economic damage in his first 43 days in office than the past ten presidents combined. That is a fact, regardless of how costly and flashy his campaign, how convincing his promises or how honest his tone. The majority of the country has again been duped by marketing. Now we all drown in the uninformed decisions. It's too late to simply blame Bush (that's been the easiest way). You're living in Obama's world now.
10 Nobel Prize Laureates warned the Bush tax cuts would derail the economy. George Akerlof, Kenneth J. Arrow, Lawrence R. Klein, Daniel L. McFadden, Franco Modigliani, Douglass C. North, Paul A. Samuelson, William F. Sharpe, Robert M. Solow, Joseph Stiglitz. Additionally there are 440 other doctors of economy who signed the same letter, but they are Nobel Prize holder, so I left them out for the sake of space. Anyone who says this mess is Obamas fault is either ignorant, dishonest or both.
The CRA helped lower mortgage lending standards, which in turn led to the mortgage crisis, the credit crisis, and the dramatic fall in the housing market subsequent to all those foreclosures.
By threatening lenders with high cost legal action, such as class action lawsuits, in order to force them to abandon their credit standards and get them to extend loans to those victims of society whose credit stinks is responsible for todays mortgage/credit mess.
Worth noting is the fact that Citibank was forced by the settlement agreement to do a substantially increased volume of sub-prime mortgages since the credit of the majority of the plaintiff class was below conventional Fannie/Freddie underwriting standards. Note too that there is no mention of credit scores in the case file.
This is what Obama trumpets as his experience as a civil rights attorney and we are all suffering the consequences of his foray into judicial extortion.
I am so sick of Right winged, conservative Republicans who think that our country is in no need for a stimulus plan of any sort! Sorry guys money made hand over fist is gone! Its time to start sharing the wealth. Nobody! and I mean nobody! works to hard to be greedy. Be sides if we see a depression like there was in the 30s your "Precious Millions: wouldn't be worth Jack! And guess who will eat first? Me! The one at the bottom of the barrel that knows how to survive on NOTHING!
Actually, those with adequate savings would benefit tremendously from a depression. Obama intends yet again to increase the money supply in order to attempt to stimulate economic growth. As a consequence, one should anticipate an inflationary cycle to occur once the confidence level of capitalists and proletarians rises sufficiently.
That is exactly the ignorant and selfish answer that is polluting the country right now. Savings account? lol. You think you'll own that money in the bank if we come even close to a great depression? Spending is what moves the economy? Maybe you rich assholes should spend some of that money you are so foolishly hording .Oh Yea. How many people in the country actually have an "ADEQUATE" amount of money. well see when the dollars is worth the paper its printed on.
Contrary to what you think, during the Great Depression there was a marked increase in the value of the United States dollar. I suggest you familiarize yourself with the Quantity Theory of Money.
Please note that I'm not suggesting that nothing be done to mitigate the deflationary cycle we're currently in the midst of, I'm merely suggesting that the stimulus package in its current form will prove wasteful and impotent.
if the govt wants to do anything for the economy they need do some cuts of their own. like Law Enforcement, DEA, FBI, the homeland security, ect. we cant afford to keep this big (humungus)(gargantous) (oversized) govt. and stay the hell out of the market. really smart to give OUR money to keep car companies running just a while longer, so they can build cars that we wont buy anyway.

After all, you are the messiah, right. After the big ears speech last night and Geithner today; Dow plummets 290 points!! Way to go, big ears!!!

we want INDUSTRIAL HEMP as an economic recovery and investement plan! hemp homes hemp textiles hemp fuel hemp food hemp biodegradable plastics hemp that would b a LARGE inmpact on our economy not to mention medicinal and recreational use.
Labour is prior to, and independent of, capital. Capital is only the fruit of labour, and could never have existed if labour had not first existed. Labour is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration.
Abraham Lincoln. that is a true visionary, yet present day Republican Leaders seem to disagree with him.
The Republican party leaders just cant think down the road, they only think about now and now only, hardly a qualification of leaders, businesses need customers more than tax cuts, tax cuts sound good for now but in the long run it is a vibrant and prosperous middle class and working Americans that give life to business small and large, Unionized worker put more money in to the Economy than a few Rich folks, that is my opinion I could be wrong.
The truly rich are so rich their estate can maintain itself through interest and loaning alone. The 'rich' that they are taxing are rich people with incomes (as in they get it through an income tax) - 'rich' people with incomes are often business owners.
Like a human body the economy is linked. In taxing these people you tax their ability to use that money to create more jobs.
These taxes therefore sap the economy of jobs that actually produce wealth, and they're squandered on inefficient government programs.
The attitude of most people who work a union job is a simple one - they see a pay increase, and thus they support the union. But what effects does that actually have on the economy?
If a business owner knows that he has to pay a United States worker 10$ for a job, why not simply set up shop in another country where they can pay people far less?
I think unions hurt our economy too, because when you force an employer to pay you more than the job is actually worth, you end up driving them out of the country and creating unemployment.
Again, the economy is linked, like the human body, you cannot 'force' it to behave differently without it having a ripple effect.
President Regan thought if he gave wealthy Americans big enough tax cuts they would create jobs, unfortunately they took the money and started Multi National companies and creating more jobs in china than the US, for every dollar of Tax cuts an average American gets, a multi national company gets up to ten million dollars, that is the Republican way of tax cuts.
The national debt under President Regan went from just $700 billion to $3 trillion.
That's not what Reagan thought. Reagan thought (and knew) that the worst thing you can do in an economic crisis is raise taxes, so he gave an overall tax cut.
And if we went so far into debt then why did our economy start doing excellent? Everybody was happy and things were going swimmingly.
And in all honesty, I wouldn't consider Bush a republican. Even though that's his party, he made more Democrat decisions than Republican.
doesnt matter to me as long as you like republicans keep voting for them, I gave you real numbers, what you do with that information is up to you. It is your money, your future, not the democrats, not the republicans, bottom line we fuck it up, you pay for it (your generation)
i agree with every word you just said, including that zeppelin rocks! we need a 3-month tax holiday, which will encourage business owners to put some savings back into their businesses and products, and will encourage consumers to buy. but those with their heads in their colon hear "tax break" and they jealously picture the rich CEO in his new Corvette, not the struggling small business owner. we need to lose the chip on our shoulder and do what's best for the economy, not just ourselves.
Exactly, instead of pissing off the wealthy, we need to convince them that if they invest now they'll make lots of money. But no, Obama would rather do the exact opposite by taxing the wealthy. So the wealthy are going to say, "hah! Screw you!"
Yep. There are too many small thinkers who would love to see the guy with more money than them taken down. I'm all for eliminating corruption, but if someone honestly earns millions a year and runs a successful corporation, he's a pillar of the country and we need to take care of him, not penalize him out of jealousy. If you're keeping the economy going, either by spending or selling, you need to be encouraged to continue. Don't reward the guy who chooses not to work and leeches tax money.
Obama is trying to calm east countries with the war in Irak, Afghanistan and so.......but now he wants to start a trade war with allies like CANADA, MEXICO, COLOMBIA AND THE EUROPEANS!
Can't you understand how two groups that are funded by the same source are going to provide the same results?
Bush was a pilot for the National Guard.
Obama was a Black person begging for charity from White people on the one hand attending White hating racist on the other. That is a bit "hypocritical?"
There are more than two colors in the rainbow, there are more choices than only Republicans and Democrats.
I will assume you are an independent. But you cant say that Dems=Repugs cause they have different agendas. Its NOT the same thing, otherwise why would America need the stupid republicans?
Bush was a pilot but didnt go to Vietnam when he had to. That means he was shit scared.
And I would always choose the democratic side. Its funny how Repugs worship Reagan like a God... Republicans are outdated. I hope they dont win any elections in the future!
I agree that some outcomes were similar... but under George H W Bush the deficit grew... Under Clinton we had surplus. Hoover got us into the depression, FDR got us mostly out of it... In these two cases, there seems to be a big difference. Also repugs are against abortion and stem cells research, democrats are for it...ect..ect...so on issues their agendas are very different.. Bush was just stupid and like Hoover took us in a ditch... Now hopefully Obama will take us out..if history is correct.
They are nowhere near the same in principles, though true conservatism in the Republican Party had faded towards moderate. The Republican platform is for limited government, lower taxes, less government spending, pro-life, pro-military, and pro- individualism. The Democrat Party is the exact opposite big governmnet, higher taxes, military cuts, pro-abortion and socialistic. Like I said you will find "moderates" in both parties but they are in whole complete opposites.
WHERE WERE YOU REPUBLICANS TALKING CRAP ABOUT THE BILL WHEN BUSH WAS IN OFFICE?? The Republicans voted for the first one...and now showing that they are real hypocrites!
Today the National Legal and Policy Center asked N. Barofsky, the Special Inspector General for Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP), for a formal review of the sponsorship by CITIGROUP of a junket to the Caribbean by C. These large corporations think they were smart outsourcing our jobs overseas to save a few bucks. Without the American consumer they're finished. Nobody spends like Americans. Even those services jobs in Asia serve Americans. Watch how America sinks the world.
And please don't compare a Harvard graduate to the uneducated dumb ass Bush! His daddy paid his way through college! Whatever Obama does, it will never reach what Bush did!
Bush went to Yale University and finished with A FUCKING "C" .... Obama went to Harvard... I guess you are the uneducated! And Obama was working, Bush SKIPPED the Vietnam War while his friends were dying.... so you do your research "poor child"!

3. The spending is based on borrowing and debt, but does nothing to stop trade deficit, nothing to create American exports, etc.
1, 2, 3. There is no miystery.
It breaks my heart how poorly education Americans are!

And please don't compare a Harvard graduate to the uneducated dumb ass Bush! His daddy paid his way through college! Whatever Obama does, it will never reach what Bush did!

Poor child, alas your problem seems to be ignorance:
1. Bush is not only a Harvard graduate, he is also a Yale alumus.
2. Obama didn't pay his own way through college either, he was another Black charity case begging for White people's money (do your homework).
Republicans = Democrats.
Democrats = Republicans
Both parties are funded by US corporations, which are owned by the Wall Street cartel.
Like most Americans, you are uneducated, so you cannot connect the dots.

Bush went to Yale University and finished with A FUCKING "C" .... Obama went to Harvard... I guess you are the uneducated! And Obama was working, Bush SKIPPED the Vietnam War while his friends were dying.... so you do your research "poor child"!
Republicans = hypocrites, liars and have dumbass small town values that are complete crap!
