@JacquesNessMonster electrics are a bit thin in the higher register, that's common for kurzweil PC-series. Actually, acoustic pianos are not ideal too, wneh played standalone. But the best thing is - they all sit good in a mix without much effort...
Wow this keyboard has some great realistic sounds. I was wondering, I haven't heard many people programming their own patches on Kurtzweil's - can you program your own unique sounds with it as well?
The sound itself is true kurzweil, warm and deep. There's a section for bass sounds too. I used some synth bass sounds. I take the keyboard at today's rehearsal, so can check the acoustic ones for you :) provided our bassman misses todays reh. ;) the unit has nise factory split with bass in the left hand and piano on the right, check my short setups demo
Hello again. Our guitarist took his bass instead of guitar on yesterday rehearsal so I had a chance to compare side-to-side. The keyboard's fingered and picked bass thru PA sounded almost the same as bass from combo. I was satisfied with the results of comparison.
The unit itself has no such tweaks. only FX can be edited for the prog. You can experiment with PC editor software for major tweaks. Unfortunately you cannot save results to slots since the internal memory contains only FX parameters for programs, user setups and general device settings :(
the sound of piano is pretty, but... i dont know...Motif xs of yamaha...or Kurzweil k2600... haha i can`t buy a Kurzweil because i from mexico LOL. ammm, the video is so good to listen the sounds of KME-61, i prefer the k2600.
there are 2 harpsi patches, no single one sounded convincing to me. I never played real instrument to compare but there's something thin about high registers. Clavs are better, for sure. However you can make an effort for a deeper-sounding harpsi-like patch by combining two or three ac. guitars in the setup. As for choirs - a couple of simple patches. I don't use them much, but even less use is for 'jazz' vocals (but 6 patches for them here! why?).
This is the worst keyboard that Kurzweil ever created, it sounds so cheap!

i have a pc1x 88 and it's kind of lack luster. it does have some good samples/sounds.
i personally like the action and velocity monitor on old Yamaha stuff better.
actually the action is not bad at all but the number of velocity zones is kind of week.
if someone knows how to increase them please let me know.

Can the patches in this unit be tweeked? Can you adjust ADSR and filter and save those to use slots?

the best "choir" here for me is the "Vocalicious", the last patch in the "Pads" category
