This touches on what over the years I've developed as my own personal style.The first stringed instrument I ever touched was a mountain dulcimer.That always stuck in my head.Drones open chords and doubled strings.Thats carried over into my guitar playing.Due to my limited abilities I realized that my best bet was leave the damn thing alone as much as I could.The less I touch it,the fewer potential mistakes.More open and doubled strings gives me big sound and continuity throughout an arrangement.
Love this Dave...The Cult used the very same idea's you're applying here for the intro and verses of their song "She Sells sanctuary".
