@IkTheNew The simplified guitar is actually one of the problems of the New Nightwish. If you look past to Oceanborn, the guitarwork was amazing - it did not play the same theme all the time, it was catchy, and it soudned generally good.

Now take look at Imaginaerum. The guitar lacks soul and is oversimplified. Even in Dark Passion Play it was not that bad.

Tuomas should really reconsider the use of guitarwork and give Emppu more solos, among other things.

Power metal? Fucking dragonforce is power metal.. Nightwish WAS best symphony metal band ever! Now its more like pop metal band with anette and they have lost most of their magic.. But i think that new Nightwish is still pretty good. New album is coming soon, check out new song Storytime :)

Tarja made Nightwish unique. Her sound, her looks, the way she dressed just made Nightwish just a totally awesome group. Annette is good, but just good. However, Nightwish seems to get along alot better with Annette. They seem happier now with annette. Tarja with Nightwish was a special time for them. The music they made together is hard to forget. I keep listening to them and it was amazing.

@Bru2712 That's true. It's still a great band but Annette changes them in a lot of ways. They are closer to being a "normal" metal band nowadays I think. Still bombastic, still the Nightwish style but not as artsy as with Tarja. The mystique is gone. If that's bad or not, well I guess it's up to each and every one to decide, but they still rule. Only in a much more rockish style than before.

@Altairograph i completly agree with u except for that i don't really understand how they were much more "unique" with Tarja. It wasn't like NW was the only band with a clasically trained singer. Quite the opposite actully, from what i've seen most female fronted metal bands seems to have that.

Not putting down Tarja here in any way... she's still my favorite singer in the world :)
