Alex Roy wrote about Rawlings and Collins in his book, and I'm not suprised that they went for the record. I wasn't suprised that Roy shattered Rawlings record as well as the 79 and 83 records. I did have to laugh when he said, "Congratulations for making it safely."

...By reading the said article, one will realize how knowledgeable Roy is on these affairs. Though he comes off as, quite frankly, as self-promoting douche bag in this appearance, he is a legend. His word against the Bullrun participants is like the Pope's against Allen Iverson's. In short, the Bullrunner must make with some solid proof, or let Brock reign supreme. That is, at least, until Roy kills the record in his M5!!!

For an emic, as opposed to an etic, glimpse at Roy's dedication to long distance time trials, you ought to read Automobile Mag's Ezra Dyre and his account of a NYC to Miami trip in the March 2007 edition...

Actually Heir Roy, they have in car tracking GPS, EZ pass records for all tolls paid, all cell phone records for constant communications to and from BullRun officials, four in car cameras for the entire run, etc.... to document and prove this new world record.You could have done it but waited too long!!!
