How is it even possible to make a remake of one of his films, and expect to be better than the original, I mean, really? Hitchcock was more than a director, he was an artist. a painter can't mearly paint a copy of the original Mona Lisa and expect it to be more famous than the original. In that way, a remake of "The Birds" or any of his classic films would fail, and should be ruled as plagiarism.
I am a huge Hitchcock fan, and would have to say 'North by Northwest' is perhaps my favorite film (due in great part to also being a Cary Grant fan)... but I must agree with goddesssugar; his earlier (and/or lesser known) stuff is great as well. 'Suspicion', 'Lifeboat', 'Foreign Correspondent', 'Rope', 'Strangers on a Train'...even his earlier silent films were amazing for their time. It always bugs me when people claim Hitchcock was 'horror' and think all he ever did was 'Psycho'.
All his movies are excellent...please watch his earlier stuff like 'Shadow Of A Doubt" and "The Wrong Man" , I know Psycho is great but check out "Rope" and "Stagefight" there is so so much more than the obvious and they will blow you th fuck away !! I do adore Vertigo..to me that film has everything xxx
I'm starting a petition to stop Universal Pictures from remaking Hitchcock's The Birds. Go to my profile and read all the information u need about how to sign the petition. I, for one, think it's an insult to remake such a classic.
Vertigo and Psycho are my favorites.
