This was Sylvia`s best album ever. The music is pure country and each song tells a story. I just wish I could find the video to this song. She is so beautiful in the video.
Thank you for putting these up - I have been hunting for them for a long while. Plus, this is going to settle a bet...a friend insists Crystal Gale is singing this....hehe....yea, I win..hands down - THANKS AGAIN!
i wanna thank u 4 posting this. i've always loved her music. i used 2 date a girl who got mad because she thought i had the hots 4 Sylvia. how could any1 NOT have the hots 4 her? she was Hot, and a great singer. i got every album she ever ut out.
nice to hear all the nice compliments about this song. bob morris wrote this many years ago. he was my uncle and his great songwriting ability is missed.
Hi! Yes "The Matador" was the first video concept aired on CMT back in 1983 when it went on the air, I managed to find a promo copy of the video, but it is a promo and I cannot post it without written consent from RCA, which is probably hard to get.
Yup this was the first concept video shown on CMT...but the first ever SONG played on CMT was...anyone?..."Four in the Morning" by the late Faron Young.
Like Nothing Ever Happened and sweet Yesterday are my other two favorite Sylvia songs. I could picture Lorrie Morgan or Jo Dee Messina Singing a coverup of this song, but "nobody" can sing this song better than Sylvia.
Basically, she retired from performing and recording several years back, when country went with more 'pop-friendly' stars such as Toby Keith and Garth Brooks.
It's a shame too, as I am more a fan of 'traditional country' and not this 'Pop-Country' crap they play, now.
ACC's #91 song of '81. God bless ya, sister Sylvia. Thanx for postin'! Have a blessed week!

This could have easily been an ABBA song.

Please refrain from insulting Sylvia by comparing her with ABBA.
Trance1972 1 year ago
@Trance1972. ABBA started as a Hootenany band, now. They had country roots too.

Abba has more in common with the Village People than country

It's available on Amazon, but it's not cheap. Search for "Sylvia Hutton" in Music. First selection. "Anthology".

It's literally been a good 20 years since I last heard this song.
They simply don't make songs like these anymore...when songs were crafted with meaning, and not just commercial appeal.

Now, can anyone plase post a video of Sylvia singing Driter??

Hmmmm, but Sylvia was critised for the same back then. And "The Matador" even has a disco beat...

Nope. Not at all. Real music is long dead. Now it's all about how cute you look on a CD cover and to hell with actual talent.
