great to see you making songs about real world stuff... I have little patience for politics -it always seems to be about the posturing & masqerading, the integrity of the politican rapidly gets lost even tho some start with altruistic ideals. I do marvel that people actually want to be politicans. having said that I just watched the film "Iron Lady" -portrayal of Maggie Thatcher..I never expected to feel empathy for Maggie but this film demonstrates there is a human story behind every politican.
@wild0goose hi Ann. of course i agree with all you say about politicians, sad but true. i will look for "iron lady". should be interesting. thanks for taking the time to listen and comment. i respect your opinions, as i respect your artistry. be well, chuck.
Somehow, I'm a bit late to this one, Chuck. I have been so tied up with the holidays that I haven't been on the internet as much. This is fantastic as always! The lyrics are top notch. I feel the same way about our two parties. Our government is totally broken now. In my lifetime, I've never seen such ineffective governing, but that's because money has corrupted everything. You performed this song perfectly too. Hope you have a very Merry Christmas. :) Janet
@onewomanandsomesongs hi Janet. so good to hear from you. i agree completely with what you say about the politicians, but being christmas eve, i choose not to feed any negative energy to those damn' greedy, dishonest, tricky, hypocritacal misfit, poor excuse for government, heartless creeps in washington........ooops ....too late. merry christmas janet, thanks for making our journey a better experience than expected. peace and love, chuck.
great storytelling in song, (too bad it's not fictional, it's all too real, surreal to some!) ---you said what many feel......melodically:-) Cheers to you Chuck, and my best wishes for a safe happy blessed holiday:-)
@cinderellalifestyle hi Laurie. and merry christmas eve to be. thanks for being there these past few years. you are a cool gift to us all. be well special person, chuck.
Interesting premise for a song Chuck. In western Nations we have so many career politicians whose entry to politics was not made from an awareness of what was wrong or a conviction to help their fellow citizens , it was about career and influence and power and a willingness to compromise. "Ideaology has left the building"
The only thing that stops us going crazy is seeing the crazy fools who love conspiracy theories and over simplify life to fit their tea party philosophies.
@StubyStubyDoo Amen Stew, well said indeed. it's sad but true, has been for years, and i have no sollutions. but i feel just a little better by "letting off " some steam. thanks for listening and i wish you and your family a fine, loving christmas. be well, chuck.
Hey Chuck great song it is just the same here in England I suppose it must be the same all over the world they get in power and they want our vote and then they forget about the average Joe and then they take take take and just look after there selves great song I am going to subscribe to your channel and I am going to listen to more of your songs thank you from Phil .
@rockingphil58 hi Phil, thanks for the thougtul comments and the nice visit. thanks also for the subscription. i am also pleased to subscribe to you own channel. hope you and yours have a fine holiday season. be well, chuck.
I sometimes get so worked up over politics that I'm afraid I'm going to bring on my own demise in the form of a stroke...lol..With that fear in mind, I won't get started on politics, but must say it's hard to keep my mind on your message while you're a playin' the guitar that darn good..Great upload my friend...
@mountnmonkey hi there Ron. always a treat to hear from you. i agree with you about not wanting to get started on politics, but i just had to get some of that junk off my chest so to speak. hopefully the last time i travel that frustrating road. thanks for the nice comment about the guitar playing. it's my only vice left. now that winter's here, i expect to have a lot of days off from work. hope for time to practice. BTW, i ALWAYS love you and guys' bluegrass/mountain music songs, chuck.
I think about this a lot. It is clear they don't "represent" the American people. This last summer it is so clear the reds are so beholden to big money they can't compromise. I don't know who blue is playing for. Mr Obama has so much charisma I thought he might be able to bring the sides together to lead, but no luck there. The only answer is REVOLUTION! Too bad I'm too fat and lazy for that. The capitalists have bought off the prolotariat.
@dmio2 hi Dan. concerning REVOLUTION, i see your point but i fear the new idiots who might fill the vacume left by the departing idiots. my life long aim for sollutions is EVOLUTION. it's a very slow process, but if each of us makes a personal commitment to evolve into something much better than we have been, hopefully after enough succdssful evolutions, we may achieve a finer purpose.........or, as often is the case, i'm full of banana pudding. thanks for your sincere and appreciated words.
I think the problems you so rightly identify are common to many democratic nations, Britain included: the wealthiest politicians commanding the greatest influence, flagrantly partisan policies being passed off as 'in the national interest', indifference to public opinion, wasting our taxes... and yet, flawed as it is, I would not wish to exchange democracy for any of the alternatives; we are so much better served than many in the world. A grand song, my friend, with some splendid picking!
@oldfolkiepad hi Paddy. of course you are right. i'll take a flawed democracy over other choices. i just resent the flaw(s) and believe that all of us deserve better. i think the partisan policies are the ones i find most offensive. they keep us from evolving into the better society we need, more so now than we needed decades ago, when jobs were pletentiful and options were numerous. thanks for your thoutful comment and making the time to listen. peace and love, chuck (hi to Oscar too).
amen Chuck. A wonderful song - that got my blood boiling. Hey, I''d should for President, myself. But seriously, I think everyone has to be disgusted with our self-serving, dysfunctional government. - and they're all on the take. buying and shorting stocks with insider knowledge. 200 years from now, students of history will listen to this video and learn "and this is what the folksingers of the day were singing before the collapse" - A merry Christmas to you, my friend - Karl
@karlmahlmann HI Karl. i agree we are in a horrible political situation. chief among our woes is lack of jobs. we manufacture very little. we import very much. until our labor forces can work for much less, while workers in china and other places, start being paid much more, it will not level out. none of the political retoric and empty promices will change any of that. it seems the writing on the wall is in day glow letters ten miles high. happy thoughts anyway. hope for the best, chuck.
Merry Christmas Chuck. A song of the times...nothing like getting the voter in the mood....lol. Great message and excellent guitar work buddy. You are nothing short of amazing....Thanks for the share.
@PatrickGMoran hi pat, concerning getting the voter in the mood. i'm real close to the old saying, "don't vote. it will only encourage them". the following situations were brought to us by the reds and blues: viet nam, prohibition, felony penalties for marijuana use, deregulations of banks and wall street, rampant home forclosures, as soon as we invaded irac, we lost the war on terror because we wasted so much money. the talaban would rather we bleed dollars than blood. or, i'm wrong again.
Hi Chuck. It's always great to see another new song from you. You have the most meaningful lyrics and the BEST guitar playing! :) Happy holidays to you!
@guitarjosie hi Josie. so nice to hear from you. i whish you and your faminly and good friends some very special times together this christmas. see you next year friend, chuck.
@TanteA hi Anette. yes, i can see how something like this can be a universal problem. thanks so much for taking the time to listn. ps i certainly liked you and ron doing "silent night" together. absolutely lovely, chuck.
Hi Chuck, great to hear this from you today. Great message song and I'm sure most people will shake their heads in agreement on everything you talk about here. Hey, that is some great picking you did on this too. Merry Christmas Chuck. -Ron
