Had AIG failed, the banks would not have been able to collect insurance on their risky investments, then they would have gone bankrupt and one after another, they would have gone out of business. The 18 year old at McDonalds wouldn't have gotten paid, and quickly, America would be shut the fuck down.

Everyone here is aware the Abraham Lincoln was a republican, right? In fact, the democrats of the time wanted to compromise and allow the southern states to maintain slavery. It was the republicans that forced the issues that led to the civil war and the freedom of black slaves. GOP is not a racist party

@KuntaJay I did. And you know what I DIDN'T find? PROOF. Has one former "Black token" come forward? Has one email been found outlining their strategy? I'm sure there have been Black Republicans (i hate even using that classifier) that have been elected because White voters wanted to feel like they were open-minded (and I'm sure Obama got a lot of votes for the same reason), but there is no conspiracy to bring that about. If there was, it would be all over MSNBC.

My family members and I were Democrats AND racist, we worked HARD for George Wallace and other racist Democrats, until we became Christians, THEN we switched over and became Republicans and fought hard against racism, just as ANOTHER REPUBLICAN fought it- his name was Dr. Martin Luther King!

@kittenagogo28 Southern strategy The strategy was first adopted in the late 1960s. The strategy was successful in some regards. It contributed to the electoral realignment of Southern states to the Republican Party, but at the expense of losing more than 90 percent of black voters to the Democratic Party. Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman formally apologized for his party's use of the Southern Strategy in the previous century but Black support the Democratics.
