  • I can emphatize with the great Chinese tripitaka master Xuan zang of the tang dynasty. who studied in nalanda, when he saw the decline of Buddhism in the land ancient chinese referred to as the western heaven, the buddha's birthplace, and cried under the great bodhi tree where Buddha attained his enlightenment.

Buddhism has been almost totally forgotten, Buddha himself reduced to just another deity on the alter when the British rediscovered Buddhism through excavation of emperor Ashoka's ston

  • I'm a chinese buddhist. Great to see that Buddhism - a religion that was founded in india, prospered in china to have finally came home to it's motherland.

  • India, the bless of Buddha!!! It's the greatest pride of India to have NALANDA UNIVERSITY again. I wanna send one of my children to study in Nalanda International university. Please let me know the contact information. Thank you....

  • Great ! and hope to visit

  • This is wonderful that ancient places can be living relics and not simply dead relics

lets take this as a message to enliven and participate in spaces of the "past" and realize that they are still living and choose to live with in them.

    love and light

  • fell into disrepair? say what? the Muslims wiped out the students!!

  • I sure hope Nalanda University reopens. That will be a major historical milestone of the 21st century!

  • Nalanda university was burnt down by Muslims invaders in 1197 AD. Many of its monks beheaded my Muslim general Baktiar Kilji. Some monks manage to escape and sought refuge in Tibet and Nepal. Its huge library containing the scripture were burnt and it took six month given the huge collection of scriptures.

Nehru has white washed Indian history especially the Islamic invasion and total destruction of Buddhist in India.

Why Indian are so scared to tell the full story of Nalanda university.

  • @Tendagami

I Imagine that the government continues to be afraid of irritating the muslims, they can be very problematic. It is necessary to never forget what fundamentalists can do, like burning a university.

  • @superCatia It's a shame when a place of higher learning that teaches, peace, love and compassion is threatened by barbarians who want to burn it down. But of course, that already happened in 1197 AD, lest we not forgot. Oh, by the way: Islam, the so-called "religion of peace" was responsible for that horrible act of destruction.

  • @eternaltruthtv Yes, that religion really frightens me. They are very violent and despise women.

  • wow =)

  • Is there a web site? I want to contact this university.

  • Search on the internet

  • me too.

  • @superCatia
