Goodness, I remember when this movie came out in 2005. I was so little, still in elementary school and had a major girl boner for Howl. I've been in love with Studio Ghibli films since I saw Spirited Away. Howl's Moving Castle is in my Top 3 Miyazaki films

I just watched this movie yesterday in Disney Channel Asia and i always thought that this was one of the best movies I've seen in the Magical Movie Festival (i guess) I really love the music, and especially Howl (is so HOT!) and I really really really love this movie. Just watched this on my local Disney Channel last night. In fact every Saturday night of February they've been airing Ghibli films (In order Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, and this coming Saturday, The Cat Returns).

Awesome flick as usual. IMO, all Ghibli films are great. Even something like Tales from Earthsea, while not as good as some of the other Ghibli films, is still good.

I like both the movie and book of Howl's Moving Castle. The art was amazing in the movie along with the interesting storyline perceived by Hayao Miyazaki and the book with it's funny storyline and great imagination by Diana Wynne Jones. Hopefully Miyazaki will continue movie making and RIP Diana. ^^

The book "Howl's Moving Castle" by Diana Wynne Jones is defiled, corrupted, and all around bastardized by this movie. What Miyazaki did to the story is one of the worst things I have ever seen done to a book ever.

Movies that ruin books are supposed to be bad, like Blood and Chocolate. What fel bargain has Miyazaki made that he can make a horrible adaption that is still a great movie, the fact that it's a good movie makes it worse than a normal, bad adaption.

I don't want to love this movie.

@dinovrsrobot I know, but it's hard, because for the longest time, it was my favorite book. Learning a movie existed, and then watching it crushed my dreams. I recognize that it's a great movie, but that somehow makes it worse.

Still a great movie though, and the imagery is fantastic. I just wish they'd called it something else. Change a few names, and it would only really draw the loosest of parallels.

I absolutely despise the fact that I can't watch a movie from the same director without thinking the previous movie, in this case Spirited Away, was soooo much better. It is amazing how Disney wants to take the credit for this wonderful work. I have the film in Japanese with subtitles and it has a completely different tone to it. Howel's voice is much much better in the original as it's softer.

True it didn't win an academy award, but such films don't need an award to recognise how impressive and how beautiful they are.
