I think that the characters aren't made to wear wigs in the movie because most live action movie producers/directors actually HATE the anime version of the movie and the fact that "Japanese people still watch and adore "cartoons", whether they are young or old" and want to open their so-called "blind eyes" to reality. Which is why I never watch live action movies....but I can't say I hate them at all. I hate those behind the production for being such bitter realists....

there's no reason to hate on this movie, they aren't doing the entire anime into one movie (as that would be dumb and pretty much impossible) its just one arc and in all seriousness the movie is rather good as it doesn't stray from the anime and is presented pretty well seeing as how hard it would actually be to deliver the same psycho nature that the characters themselves would display in the anime in real life.

Higurashi is more cruel, Elfen Lied is "cruel" but in a psychological way. Elfen mix romance, gore, humor and ecchi. i recommend watch the anime and then read the manga... the manga serie is a lot better :D (manga have more ecchi, so if you're a guy, you're gonna love it)

@Limo2626 I don't know much about Elfen Lied, but the story behind Higurashi is that it is an endless time-loop during the months of june and july, around a certain festival. The anime itself has multiple arcs, most of which ending with at least one main character dead, and are actually question and answer arcs. In the second season, Higurashi Kai, it is revealed that the whole series is seen mainly from Rika's point of view. I could explain more, but I'm running out of room in this comment.
