Wii won for best console this generation. Why? Because it was the most innovative, brought the most to the table, and opened new possibilities to games. WiiU will do more of that innovative glory. Far more than Microsoft or Sony are able to do, being years behind in the tech.

Backwards compatibly was already kind of a given. They would be stupid to leave that out. Honestly I think sony is stupid for removing it from the newer ps3 models. And not all games will have the function to move it on to the controller and play it on the go, only some.

@spades48 Shovelware is as shovelware does, no one plays them, so no one cares. And I'd argue against that idea of motion control being bad.
Case in point, Red Steel 2, which is likely the most natural sword-slasher I've seen on any console. And it's awesome, like a more involving Devil May Cry.
Then there's the Trauma Center series, ported from the DS and also awesome with motion controls.
I'd throw more titles, but... Yeah. Move might not suck, but the games do. *Shrug*
@UltimateKingSonic in all honesty I think the move has had a way better game line-up then the wii (well atleast in the past year). The wii has lost its touch, and its very obvious. And plus, the game you mentioned, could work just as well (if not better) with a normal controller. Casual gamers will most likely enjoy motion controls, but normal gamers (such as myself) will use a control over motion controls when given the option.
@spades48 Well, the game's library is what counts, not how it's been handling in any given year. Nintendo's been intentionally holding back on the wii, if speculation is correct, to make the Wii U even better as the next big killer app. What you're claiming is a gimmick that has passed is actually just getting ready for the next big burst.

@spades48 And in my opinion, you're dead wrong about motion controls being pointless next to a standard controller. Red Steel 2 is about having the feel of being a samurai swordsmen, but seamlessly flowing from slicing to shooting. Trauma Center worked by putting you in the feel of being a surgeon as well as the technology could, and it works wonders.
The Wii provided experiences you could never, EVER match with buttons. And that's what counts here. Innovative fun.

And to be honest I really hope your right with the WiiU being successful. Just from what I've seen it doesn't look to promising. The controller looks cool as hell, but Nintendo said only up to 2 can be active on the same console at once. So I don't know how that's going to work. I'm assuming anyone else will be stuck with the wiimote.
@spades48 Well, the regular Wii rocked the house when it came out, if not to this day. So I'm having good feelings about this. Besides, considering how many other console games I've seen force you to play Lan, Online, or alone, splitscreen between 4 people might be becoming less important, which removes the problem of 4 player modes being the norm and brings more focus back to the single player experience.
Which, lets face it, when combined with a better internet? Would rock.
@UltimateKingSonic The Wii was insanely fun the first two years. The reason being is because motion controls were new and innovative. But now that the flare is gone it's just not the same. That's why I'm worried for the WiiU. But with the 4-player thing your talking about, I don't think single player is the right step for nintendo to make. To me at least, nintendo has always been the system that encourages 4-player fun all on the same couch. I mean look at Mario bros.

@UltimateKingSonic I'm mainly concerned about the controller itself. It looks like it would be awkward to use and I've heard from many it isn't comfortable to hold. Hopefully they'll fix that before launch.

Still. I have the feeling Nintendo is going to use this to reintroduce using your DS handhelds (in possibly one of many states,) as a controller, much like how the Gameboy Advance was used for the Gamecube. Which, when combined with the tablets and wiimotes, allows for far more controller options.

Doesn't matter if rpg fans don't enjoy them, the fps audience is a huge proportion of gamers. I personally could care less about how it would work with rpg's. There are only a handful of rpg's I actually enjoy (such as chrono trigger). But most of them such as FF are slow and repetitive IMO.

There's RTS, RPG, Strategy, Puzzle, Visual Novels, Sports, Action, Platformers, hell there are tons I'm not even remembering. All far better suited to the WiiU.

@UltimateKingSonic I used FF because its the prime example of an RPG. I've played dozens of RPG's. The main problem with me is that RPG's more or less focus on the story more than the gameplay. If I want a good story I'll just read a book.
@spades48 FPS is the biggest because the consoles are built FOR THEM. Twitch mechanics, dual analog sticks, shoulder buttons, the PS3 and Xbox 360 lend themselves to shooters perfectly. Like they always have. But that doesn't mean FPS is the only genre that matters, and you can definitely make a bad FPS, or a cash-in FPS, or a shovelware FPS.
Nintendo doesn't need FPS because it has a different audience. Hardcore gamers, but ones with different tastes.

Nintendo doesn't have an hardcore audience. Its more of a family-friendly audience. A lot of hardcore gamers that play alot of JRPG's own a PS3. "hardcore" rpg's were more popular on the gamecube.

Sony need to learn how to master the motion controls on the wii, the only great game I find worth getting a move for is just for RE5.
Sonys new system the PSP2 is meant to have touch screen and maybe motion controls, I'd rather trust nintendo on this sort of thing cause they have been doing these things for nearly half a decade now.
Good review, I own the PS move to I tried the demo of heavy rain and all the free move demos I hated them all except I have to admit the eyepet was ok to interact with but only just once in my lifetime.
I only got the PS move and nav controler just to play RE5 gold edition just like the wii version, I hate both the original RE4 and re5s but the motion control versions feel more funner to use and the controls respond 100% acurate on the PS move in quick time events and aiming.
very good review man...just want to point something though...when playing sport champions games especially ping pong in the hardest difficulty the motions are even better

Okay, fuck this. I'm wrapping this up no matter how these idiots try to shout me down.
Wii won for best console this generation. Why? Because it was the most innovative, brought the most to the table, and opened new possibilities to games. WiiU will do more of that innovative glory. Far more than Microsoft or Sony are able to do, being years behind in the tech.

Backwards compatibly was already kind of a given. They would be stupid to leave that out. Honestly I think sony is stupid for removing it from the newer ps3 models. And not all games will have the function to move it on to the controller and play it on the go, only some.

@spades48 Shovelware is as shovelware does, no one plays them, so no one cares. And I'd argue against that idea of motion control being bad.
Case in point, Red Steel 2, which is likely the most natural sword-slasher I've seen on any console. And it's awesome, like a more involving Devil May Cry.
Then there's the Trauma Center series, ported from the DS and also awesome with motion controls.
I'd throw more titles, but... Yeah. Move might not suck, but the games do. *Shrug*

@UltimateKingSonic in all honesty I think the move has had a way better game line-up then the wii (well atleast in the past year). The wii has lost its touch, and its very obvious. And plus, the game you mentioned, could work just as well (if not better) with a normal controller. Casual gamers will most likely enjoy motion controls, but normal gamers (such as myself) will use a control over motion controls when given the option.

@spades48 And in my opinion, you're dead wrong about motion controls being pointless next to a standard controller. Red Steel 2 is about having the feel of being a samurai swordsmen, but seamlessly flowing from slicing to shooting. Trauma Center worked by putting you in the feel of being a surgeon as well as the technology could, and it works wonders.
The Wii provided experiences you could never, EVER match with buttons. And that's what counts here. Innovative fun.

Besides, considering how many other console games I've seen force you to play Lan, Online, or alone, splitscreen between 4 people might be becoming less important, which removes the problem of 4 player modes being the norm and brings more focus back to the single player experience.
Which, lets face it, when combined with a better internet? Would rock.

@UltimateKingSonic The Wii was insanely fun the first two years. The reason being is because motion controls were new and innovative. But now that the flare is gone it's just not the same. That's why I'm worried for the WiiU. But with the 4-player thing your talking about, I don't think single player is the right step for nintendo to make. To me at least, nintendo has always been the system that encourages 4-player fun all on the same couch. I mean look at Mario bros.

Doesn't matter if rpg fans don't enjoy them, the fps audience is a huge proportion of gamers. I personally could care less about how it would work with rpg's. There are only a handful of rpg's I actually enjoy (such as chrono trigger). But most of them such as FF are slow and repetitive IMO.

@spades48 FPS is the biggest because the consoles are built FOR THEM. Twitch mechanics, dual analog sticks, shoulder buttons, the PS3 and Xbox 360 lend themselves to shooters perfectly. Like they always have. But that doesn't mean FPS is the only genre that matters, and you can definitely make a bad FPS, or a cash-in FPS, or a shovelware FPS.
Nintendo doesn't need FPS because it has a different audience. Hardcore gamers, but ones with different tastes.

Sony need to learn how to master the motion controls on the wii, the only great game I find worth getting a move for is just for RE5.
Sonys new system the PSP2 is meant to have touch screen and maybe motion controls, I'd rather trust nintendo on this sort of thing cause they have been doing these things for nearly half a decade now.

Good review, I own the PS move to I tried the demo of heavy rain and all the free move demos I hated them all except I have to admit the eyepet was ok to interact with but only just once in my lifetime.
I only got the PS move and nav controler just to play RE5 gold edition just like the wii version, I hate both the original RE4 and re5s but the motion control versions feel more funner to use and the controls respond 100% acurate on the PS move in quick time events and aiming.
