  • The first time I saw her took me back to when I was a child looking at my mother. She looks and reminds me of my mother when she was younger before she cut her hair and colored it blonde. ;-) But the difference between them is my mother is Phillipino and Black. I think she is an inspiration for females showing that they can be strong in whatever they do!!!

  • @MsLoyan Amerie never cut her hair. And the blond is gone already!! She's back to black ages ago :P

    Follow her on twitter @ItsAmeriie

  • I love this song she gets straight to the point

  • She looks like Kourtney kardashian in that photo..

  • I always though Kourtney looked more like Amerie, but Kourtney seemed more like she was on a "drugged up" high, slower reacting and such. Kourtney is many months older though.

  • omgg i been sayin that ppl dont see it they look like twins lol

  • beautifull songgggg.. love the start of it

  • and people stop talking about everyone's spelling. Sometimes people just make mistakes :P besides we're not trying to use our spelling to convince someone of our arguments

And lastly! I love this song! :D Amerie has a lovely voice and I wish she wasn't underatted :[

  • Oh and I would like to comment on the lady that said she is one of the "proudest african american women". I saw that you said that people are hating on black people. Well girlie it's time to grow up and realize that it's not just the "white people" but if you didn't notice a lot of people tend to follow media. A lot of "black" movies have bad messages such as the whole gangster and thug thing going on. White people see that and the relate that to every other black person. Blame media too!

  • I thought I would like to add my 5 cents to the table :D I read something about idians and black people and who had it worse? Maybe I'm wrong (cause I sorta skimmed through it) but I would like to say the idians had it worse than the africans that were stolen. African slaves got to eat and live under shelter while the poor idians were forced off their land and relocated to land that they couldn't produce enough food on :[

  • @DreDeshawn WTF! Native Americans got a shitty deal but then they were pretty much left alone. Africans were completely forced from their homeland, stripped of their belongings, humiliated, sold like a product, forced to work for free, prohibited from speaking their own language or practicing their own religion, seperated from their loved ones, raped, killed and beaten on a regular basis, ridiculed and denied education. The only reason shelter & food was provided is to keep them alive to work!

  • wooow baseballsr5, u need to watch wat the heck u say.Don't decide to get all bold and say that stuff online. go say that to a black persons face and see if u don't get dealt wit

  • wooooooooooo love ameire... love dis song, love dis beat!!!!

  • this song reminds me of sumthin that i would say

  • I like this song it. she reminds me of myself her emotions and how she displays them

  • ...ummm... nevermind-

  • i hate this chorus but the verses slap so hard i had to listen again but this fucking chorus kills the whole fucking song

  • @kingkleeane87 true

  • can't we all just agree that white people have been historically the most savage people on the planet and tend to corrupt even worse whatever civilization they copme into contact with?

  • thanks for taking the time to tell us that. I hope you feel much better now :) why do u feel that we all suck by the way? we're not all sucky and horrible

  • Great song!! it's good to be from the melting pot we call America!!! I too, am mixed- East Indian and Black. I have come to the point in my life that accept my differences as well as my similarities, cause neither side of ANYONES mixed race is going to totally accept the person as a whole. YOU have to accept YOU and see yourself as beautiful, like this song! I know I am and I had to embrace my outer beauty and not be ashamed of it- which also enhanced my inner beauty too!! Happy Holidays!!

  • @ThePrettybrownangel

you must get a lot of heat for doing that eh?

Like the people on here who seem to only want people who are mixed with black to claim it completely.

  • P.S. you look really childish picking on spelling on youtube.

I have a 4.0 in school so trying to attack me that way will not work.

you could be honest and say "i just hate people who claim both instead of saying black"

at least you would be honest then, because lets face it you did not comment on my spelling just to speak on spelling or you would be everywhere on YT. honesty is the best policy eh copain.

  • im sorry if you had a 4.0 it wasnt in college. kindergarten dosn't count. you need to learn how to spell and read, because i didnt say your inteligence had anything to do with being vain ..btw who goes around saying their vain? just silly to me..u dont have to convince people. convince yourself.

  • @moniquewtlc

lol you started this not me.

And i am not trying to act accomplished name one sentence where i have.

I am still in highschool so i have time merci.

As i said i do not care about spelling i am not in school atm am i? I could easily go and pull some of your incorect spelling but that is childish...almost as childish as you are acting.

I honestly think you are jealous and i dont know why. "you are this cultured" i never brought my culture into it. & oui i am vain, what should i lie?

  • jealous!!! are you serious. i am one of the proudest african american woman you could ever meet. i love everything about our strong race. we are hated on. thats why we are treated the way we are.

  • @moniquewtlc

I am mixed...my father is black my mother is native i learend the history of both.

Do you know how long i hated white people?..

Do you know how much i..DESPISED EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM?!? The...pain my ancestors felt is my pain today. I have sense then let most of my anger with the white people go, but i do not like to be reminded nor do i lie to compare scars.

Desole cher, i am done with this discussion.

  • ok.. i can respect that. no hard feelings. sometimes i just get caught up in conversations.when i first reading your comments i have to admit i misjudged you. after reading your last paragraph i must say your parents raised a smart cookie. peace my indian/black brother

  • Hey be honest with me k.

You are arguing because of my race arnt you?

Because everything you are talking about was not even a issue until you made them a issue.

you speak about my spelling when even you have errors, you insult my confidence, you disgrace OUR race by arguing, i really believe you need to stop and breath stop with your insults and just chill out mon ami.

I really hate arguing i hate arguing even more on a beautiful song like this and what makes it worse is people read this. stop

  • i am not arguing with you. im simply making a statement. l love all races. i just dont like when people make silly comments. i do have to argue with you on one thing. this talented, beautiful artist needs to be respected so im going to chill.god bless

  • oh and yes i am very vain and sense you get it confused with things such as self hate and low IQ

allow me to define it for you.

    vanity [ˈvænɪtɪ]

    n pl -ties

    1. the state or quality of being vain; excessive pride or conceit

    2. ostentation occasioned by ambition or pride

    3. an instance of being vain or something about which one is vain

    are we clear mon ami?

  • I love my Father a black man

I love my mother a cherokee women

    What is you problem?

yes i know black people have went through a lot because it is still going on and i go through it to.

Native americans are in the same boat..no in fact its much worse because there are so few native americans left.

There is plenty of black people who can endure and the race not even miss a loss but with natives it is a bit different.

in the end you have your views i have mine.

  • i dont want you to take this the wrong way. now i see that you have a valid point i will respect that. however i will say this. because the indians lost the war between the settlers who stole their land from them does not make it worse than stealing blacks from our homeland to america to tortue and capture us to make us slaves and make us feel like we dont belong on this earth. do you really think they had it worse. really???

  • this person is trying so hard to get youtube viewers to think that they are so accomplished, that they are going in the dictionary copying the definition. look we dont care that you think you are this cultured, self-assured wannabe. god bless. you sound disturb.

  • Do you have your traditional robes from your people??? I do.

Do you speak any of their dialect??? i Do

I am proud to say i am mixed with it.

I am also proud to say my mother is Cherokee i will not neglect that either. Btw i do not really have to correct people most of the time because they look and can tell i am mixed...except for most of the black people anyway.

And my french you were speaking about, well thats just how we talk down here where i am from.

    Les meilluer vouex cher.

  • ...my other post did not post so i will try to put what i remember

My black half comes from western africa and my people are the Fulani. Do you know from where you come???

what about some traditions (and i mean real) that your people do???

you see i love to say i am mixed with black (more then you would ever know) I love all the amazing things we have accomplished and despite being the underdogs everytime i love the fact that we endure. Pride???i would like to see who has more.

  • Oh that's cute. You can say "I got Indian in me" and actually mean it.

People speak French where I'm from also. Only it's as useless as pig latin.

  • @Darkmessenger1000 look the botton line is this. you can say you have the robes and all that other bull that you are speaking. however just being african american we can proudly say we are the strongest race ever built on this earth. what other culture has endured sure hatred then us. enough said.

  • ainsi why is it because someone is mixed with black people still try to make us say were black?

that is 80s talk mes amis get with the program.

  • If you look black, people are gonna call you black regardless of what you're mixed with. If you're mixed with only 1/4 of black, and it shows, people will still consider you black. It's been like that for a very LOOOONG time and it will probably stay like that for a very LONG time. Get over it.

  • @yukahonda

seeing that i have 2 thumbs down shows me there is still a lot of racist black people as well.

Blacks get angry when you do not just claim to be black and i think it is pitiful.

However it does not matter in the least and i will not get over anything mon ami.

Unless you have power to move nations i would suggest you silence your self on affairs you have no real power in. The biggest reason blacks call someone else black is usually because they are morons who can not see a difference,

  • @yukahonda

even when it is clear to every other race, now that is sad.

  • What's sad is you think only blacks feel that way.

I didn't say I agreed with the way that things are, I was stating HOW they are. Tiger Woods stated that there are golf courses that he still can't play on because he's been told "we're just not ready for you". & that's one of the last mixed ppl on Earth who would ever call himself "black".

Lol @ "silence yourself on affairs you have no real power in". & you do? I may not have have any "power", but @ least I'm comfortable in my own skin.

  • @yukahonda

lol i am very comfortable in my own skin as a matter of fact i may be one of the most vain people you would ever come across.

And when i said that i ment you have no place in this argument because you are not mixed nor do you have any power to change anything.

  • "because you are not mixed" --> And you know that because?

It's obvious that you're just young and dumb and perhaps in denial. I'm glad you mentioned your vainness. I can attribute your no sense of reality to that factor.

It's ok that you see yourself as one thing and call yourself Cablasian or some crap, or just a mutt. It's ok. Just keep in mind the majority see you as something else.

However, since you are mixed why don't YOU use that so-called power you have and make a change!

  • @yukahonda

because no mixed person would say the things you say....unless thry are ashamed of where they come from.

And as for me i am attempting to make a change by correcting and telling people the difference.

a Small step oui, but a step none the less.

  • No sweetie, that's not being shamed, that's just being realistic. You don't have to be white, asian, black, or martian (or a mixture of them all) to know how things work.

However, not hesitating to correct someone when they call you black because you look black just so you won't be considered BLACK....now that's shame.

  • BTW, it's interesting to know that you somehow know every mixed person in the world and understand their beliefs and feelings on the different degrees of race.

    Almost impressive as your French.

  • @Darkmessenger1000 dont be too vain. you try to come across intelligent however, your misspelling your words. proof reading is very important. once you master that then you can say im the sh**.people that say they are vain are really dealing with self pity and low self esteem.

  • @moniquewtlc

you are aware that vain and intellect are 2 diff things correct?

and even then there is 2 diff kinds of intellect for example you may be more booksmart then me but take away everything we have and force us to live in the wild and i would give you 24 to 48 hours tops before you die or become dinner for prey.

I find it funny when ever someone is proud of what they are most black people (not all) say it is self hate as i said i love myself to much.

  • darkmessenger- i'm with you! I don't understand why you have two thumbs down. The fact that yuka got a thumbs up show that people are accepting "the way it is." I am against "the way it is," and i'm glad you're speaking up. The One Drop rule is bias. if you're mixed with black- you're mixed, not "black." I'm with you!

  • merci beucou QLateralus6 always good to know i am not alone in my opinion, i figure it has to start somewhere because just claiming one side is so wrong.

Especially if you are proud of both sides.

  • AngelGurl07734...thank you for getting this correct.....if you all would simply google amerie u would know her father is african american and her mother is korean...he meet her while in the military...

  • She look like Maya from Girlfriends in this photo....they both have something in common....THEY BOTH FINE AS HELL

  • this is one of her BETTER songs

    i like :)

  • i so love this damn song wow she is such a good singer

  • Her mother is Korean and her father is African American.

  • Her mama must have been a bad ass woman back in her day....like mother like daughter

  • Gorgeous Gal

  • Amerie is black and asian

  • she's black and korean...

  • @AngelGurl07734

the best mixture: she is so amazing beautiful !!!

  • @wizdomborn1 no she's black and korean.. where did you hear indian from?

  • how do you no i mean i couldve sworn she says she korean and black. i believe she even sed it in ha first album or something! i mean look at her eyes how could she be half indian. i mean she could possibly have indian in her.

  • Yeah, she's def. Black and KOREAN.....smh

  • Great song, I wonder if the NEPTUNES had their hands in it? Sounds a bit like Usher's new Certiefied????

Nonetheless, still great great song, love the beat. I just wish that she would break through as an artist,, she works very hard and is not recognized for what she is, can and does....MHO

  • i lov this motha fucking song itss soo sexiii
