@suncruiser00 well, that's hardly even in the performance. There is no all-perfect musical ear. While singing live she improvises, she lets the music flow but you can only do so much. Sometimes, there are slips. There is no artist who can escape that... You have to agree, though, the 'scream' is not unpleasant (i.e. it's on pitch and is a natural sound).

I go back and forth in my mind trying to figure out if this version or the '94 version is better. I refuse to choose! During this time, Queen Mariah's voice possessed such a husky, soulful tone. In the '94 version her voice soared beyond the mountains and had limitless potential. She's the only woman i know that outdoes herself in everything she does lol! She sang it one and other time, they were editing the whole thing and actually what you see here is way to different to the real thing but it was an amazing performance considering how dried her vocal chords are now. I don't know why people are saying what would Mariah be without her whistles. Yes, if she gets her nodes remove she might lose "some" of her whistle range, but obviously only the ones she does in the morning to go into the eighth octave. Most of her seventh octave whistles were naturally part of the great range she achieved through practise. Trust me, if all of her whistle range came from nodes, then the whistles would sound much weaker, and not as effortless as if she had already built up range
