The new logo originally seemed to be taking away it's outwardly image - a fact that I still agree on, however the new Title Sequence shows the TARDIS coming from the logo and so is easily recognizable.
The new Title Sequence is totally different matter - they have completely separated themselves from the rest of the Doctor Who productions by using a worldly theme to emphasize the Time Vortex - the hurricane.
Good review, but might need more analytical thinking involved in future?
@JoeAndTeddy Did you seriously watch this video and come up with that? If you watched any other video you'd know that I LOVE the series so far. Don't make yourself look ignorant by coming to stupid assumptions.
OK- have just seen episode 1 of the new series including the new title sequence. The writing, new TARDIS and the new Doctor- all great: the new title music and title graphics- oh dear....! In an earlier post I joked about what happened to the title sequence in 1987- history may be repeating itself! I gather from the BBC website that the titles were only finished last week- they look and sound as if they were rushed together! I really hope they grow on me...!
Hi- interesting comments, and a completely understandable reaction from a "new Who" fan. But - put into perspective, its the 9th Logo in nearly 50 years- things change, I felt the same way about the last logo when the programme came back and felt outraged back in 1980 when JN-T replaced my beloved "Diamond" logo with that neon looking thing. Oh well- could be worse. Look what happened to the logo in 1987! I agree with you about the "DW" insignia. Time will tell if we are right or wrong!
Another US Who fan here. I have a weird idea that the new Doctor may...I said may, be more Earth bound like Dr. 3 (Pertwee). Maybe the Time Lords condemn him to be stranded like before. The Tardis is wrecked, the new one (as Kayley's says) is blue like the earth and Matt's outfit looks a lot like Pertwee and Davidson mixed. Guess we'll see. The new logo (speaking as a graphic designer) looks like it is marketed to a younger (and I mean 12-15 years old) audience. Thanks Kayley.
Have you seen the old episodes? Like the 1963 episodes - 1990? they are all quite good considering the time they were filmed in and the limited effects. At the time, the BBC Radiophonic workshop revolutionised sound fx etc. with Doctor Who. The sound of the Tardis came in after 4 or 5 episodes? I think and the theme tune alone was revolutionary aswell if you listen to the original one. Also the original Doctor Who logo is basically the same as this new one..or vice versa. Hope this interested yu
Also, when you say that people who haven't heard of doctor who won't be able to tell what it is I don't theink you realise that in the UK EVERYONE knows waht doctor who is.
wow Kayley, my thoughts exactly... except for the theme part, i've grown quite fond of it, especially the strings bit.
But the logo, it really looks too old fashionned to me, which kinda sucks for a sci fi series... it's not as bad as the first one of the new series though, but i really don't see why it needed to change in the first place, unless that's related to Smith's Doctor personnality (cold? old fashionned? the tweed jacket certainly points to that :p)
yeah, moffat wrote some great episodes! blink, the girl in the fireplace, the empty child and the doctor dances. they were all brilliant. so i think the way he will change the rest of the show will be all well and good :)

"Blink" was fantastic. I do hope they do more with Sally Sparrow (personally, I'd have liked "The Sally Sparrow Adventures MORE than SJA). YES, I KNOW that WHO will be better. Look how excellent Alex Kingston was in the 2-parter (also Moffatt/Lynn written/directed). Matt Smith will be fantastic. The setup is happening right now. I quite like like the new logo! If the next season is meant to be in line with more classic Who, Then it makes sense to have a logo that ties in with that.
The direction that RTD and the poduction crew took the show in was perfect for capturing new fans and setting a solid foundation for the show. With that in mind, isn't it time to give something back to the older generation of fans who have supported the show for decades?
For someone who doesn't mind change, you're doing alot of resisting..
I disagree,I think the new logo is very Doctor Who and returns to the original style, infact when I first saw the current one, having grown up on the classic series,I didnt think it looked very WHOish, too bright and over done, where as the Doctor is ment to be mysterious and to me that logo didnt represent someone secretive.I think fans of the new series only will hate it as it is more plain where as those who have grown up watching the classic series will love it as its a back to its roots logo.
I suppose with the major change of loosing DT ( *tries to to cry* ) they HAVE to change other things. the TARDIS, the logo, the geekchic, the opening. ....sigh
i love this logo and i especially love that mr steven moffat is going to put the doctors face in the intro just like the classic series brilliant! the new series is going to be a mixture of old and new thats going to be fantastic!!!
Companion Who is the companions always having to save the day. Yes it is great. I loved it at first. However, Mr. Davies beat a dead horse when he made 3 series finales end with the companion being the be all end all hero, NOT The Doctor. I appreciate that it brings a more different and exciting side to the story and the Doctor is NOT invincible lest that will get boring but it was a little overkill in my opinion.
and funny enough your past video you request about old Classics from the pre 2005 era. If you don't like the logo then you may not like the classics. Just warning ya.
Most people who hate this logo are actually fans of the 2005 series and probably have no clue about the old series. Classic series. This logo and it's font are actually a throwback to the 1963 logo and font in a way. I loved the new series and I love the old classics but I believe Mister Moffatt will be doing the Franchise proper now. No more COMPANION WHO. It really may be Doctor Who again. It may not be popular for the 2005 series fans but I know I will love it. Matt Smith on the other hand ..
I'm a fan of the 2005 series and I watch Old Who, must admit I like New Who more though (can I point out that although part of the new gen of Who fans-I was watching Who lond before it came back in 2005)... HATE the new logo, and that is something coming from someone whos fav logo was the Pertwee/McGann one, the new 1 is VERY similar, almost a rip off. Companion Who? What's That? EVERY! watch out, The Doc is on SJ Adventures in 2 weeks & there will be an 11 doctor children in Nees Special :)
Stephen Moffat is a big fan of the older Who and I think he wants to take the series in that direction. I enjoyed Davies Who very much but I'm also looking forward to what Moffat has to offer. Just expect Moffat's Who to be more like the original.
I'm all for change when it makes sense, and I feel a production changeover supports a logo change. All that said, I was hoping for a more subtle change than an overhaul. I know this is sci-fi but DW isn't metallic & cutting edge. It's quirky & old no matter how "new" things get. I'm holding out on actual judgment; it's kinda too much for me right now since 10 isn't quite done yet.
I hate this logo, its 2009 not late 1980- early 1990. I really dislike it and somehow i think Dr Who will lose viewers when the new Doctor starts. Just my opinion, im sure he will be great.
I think it's pretty clever that the lantern and DW letters were made to form the shape of the TARDIS!
But then again, it's true like you said that someone who didn't know anything about the franchise would just think the design was nothing more than big letters side by side, with a light on top of them lol (especially since police boxes in general aren't part of the public consciousness anymore either, in this day and age).
I didn't like it at first, but then I saw the little video with the TARDIS noise and it made more sense. That the DW looks like the TARDIS I mean, I didn't get it at first.
I think the PR mentality behind this is to bring in some of us old(er) fans back into the fold and saying, "Hey... we may be new but we have the spirit of your favorite Doctor left in us."
I like this new logo, it seems that series 5 is going back to the shows roots, with a old style tardis and now with the logo as 'Doctor' is now above the 'Who', which it use to be. I also like the colour scmeme, i never really liked the whole red/orange colour as I remember the old 'diamond' logo on the 70s title which was blue and I just think it suits the show. But this is my view on the logo and I'm not telling anyone to think like this
My first thought was that I hate it. I hate how it's a new series without David Tennant, and their changing so much, like calling in series 1. The actual episodes will probably be amazing, but I don't like how they're trying to make it all new because it should still be that familiar logo. I will cry if they change the intro. Great video <3
I personally LOVE this logo, we can finally return who to what it was...Good old classic non over the top and not camp sci fi which it sadly became with Davies in charge. Moffat will finally bring the REAL Doctor who back to the BBC!!!
Kayley You didn't like the changes made to the the theme tune last time so I thought you would be looking forward to changing it this time. You know since it will be different to the one you didn't like. Right?
Good point about the branding and bringing new audiences but I THINK the Tardis shaped logo is more for branding a bold image. It's everything around it that has to support the icon and make everybody aware of Doctor Who. Not the icon itself. (though I must say it helps)
Thats because Eccleston only stayed for a year... there would be no point in a change. Now theres a whole new production team, main cast etc so everythings changing :)
I agree, I don't like it. It's too sleek and sterile. It seems like it's for a Star Trek show (and I like Star Trek . . . minus Voyager).
Doctor who is supposed to be much more alien, and not sterile. Every costume that a Doctor wears is not just a solid color suit, or just a solid colored robe, it's multiple layers, or styles thrown together. It's organic (however, Matt Smith seems to have the least organic costume now).
I like Moffatt, and his writing, but this is making me nervous.
I don't mind it, but I'm the same as you. The last logo and the opening sequence for DW was just brilliant! Whenever I heard the tune, I would be like 'ooo, Doctor Who!' and get excited when names of the people in the show came up on screen and flew back...
Anyway, I won't hold complete judgement on the logo just yet...I'll wait to see how the title sequence turns out when it appears on the show itself. =]
his physical regeneration produced a young body, but his mind and personality regenerated into something between a cross of Hartnell, Troughton, Tom Baker and Davison. I've also noticed that they are filming alot more on location this year....(besides Cardiff's doorstep) so I think were in for a real treat in 2010 :)
I like the new logo, because like so many other elements of the show, Moffat is returning it to its roots. RTDs logo is the ONLY logo to ever feature "Doctor Who" displayed horizontally instead of vertically. As for the color scheme, I like it, because the Who logo has always been made up of blues. The new logo to me looks like a modern version of Hartnell's logo, which I think the reason for Smiths costume is a conflict of character -
With a completely new creative team will come drastic change. If you're not already aware this new series of Doctor Who being film is being filed as Series One on set. That in itself screams that SM wants a fresh beginning.
The logo is pretty cool and the wording is very retro DW and it fits the slightly darker mood that SM is bringing in to his tenure.
Again lets not knock it until we see the whole pakage
What I don't like is how the word 'WHO' is twice the size of Doctor. I know it's like the old logos but it just makes it look crowded whereas the Tennant logo is sleek and perfect.
One thing I don't agree with however is the Season 4 theme tune. I loved it. :D
There is one thing I hope never happens and that is Matt Smiths face appearing during the opening titles like the classics did. Please BBC do NOT do that. :P
The logo's growing on me already. The only thing I still really don't like is that weird R. It looks out of place next to the other letters.
There will be a new theme and that's cool with me, 1 because I like hearing different arrangements, and 2 for the same reason as Kayley - the Series 4 one isn't very good...
I don't get it - they didn't change everything when Eccleston regenerated...they had virtually the same introduction, music, colour scheme etc. This is going to put a lot of people off. It sounds horrible and purist (lol) but it would be a tiny bit more bearable if it were Mr. Tennant staying in his gloriously shexy role.
Exactly. See also: the last year of Tom Baker (the first year of the then-new producer John Nathan Turner), followed by the entire run of both Peter Davison and Colin Baker. They shared more-or-less the same logo and opening titles because the producer was the same throughout the 80s. They only changed them for Sylvester McCoy because Doctor Who had become unpopular and they wanted to give the impression of a "new start", even though the producer remained the same.
You'll get used to it! It all depends on what they do with it in the new opening titles. Doctor Who was never one single thing in the 60s, 70s and 80s, and while people were worried whenever things changed, it stayed alive because it never became stale.
I like it, I think its kind of retro, it does look a lot like the original logo. I think Steven Moffat will have the early years of the classic series in mind, if you look at the TARDIS, the new interior, even the Doctor's costume, there are echoes of William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton and Jon Pertwee.
I hope the new theme is good. I want to be really excited that there will be a Doctor Who for me. I didn't see the show until it was over. Now it's a new show, and instead of being excited and getting another Planet of the Dead, it will be a whole new experience. Sort of.
But the logo? I doubt people liked the old one at first. It was very plain. This isn't too interesting. But what would be?
First Donna, then the Doctor, then the head writer, and now the logo! I can't deal with anymore more things leaving! Hopefully they won't change the theme tune though. It makes me worry what the intro will be like...because I can't see that logo in the same context. *worried*
The only thing I strongly dislike are the light sources / lens flares on the logos. I think they're tacky. Otherwise, I think it'll grow on people, and it'll look different in the new title sequence anyway.
This is two logos in one, I think. I doubt the DW TARDIS will be used for the title sequence - I hope not anyway. It'll hopefully be kept for merchandise and teaser trailers etc. I like the part on the left though; it's cleaner than the current orange logo, and evokes something of old Who in a good way. I want the new Moffat series to be mysterious and less of an "action" show, and this logo seems to be preparing for that. Looking forward to hearing the new arrangement of the theme!
Whenever I see a change I don't like (most of them), I just tell myself that all the elements of Who that we love will forever belong to Tennant and Eccleston. The things like the logo and intro and non-lego TARDIS will always harken back to OUR new series Doctor, whichever yours may be :)
:-) People first thought Tom Baker was a bit manic and then realised they loved him! Everybody is scared of losing what they love, but what's so great about the series is that it has changed and mutated over the years, taken on new forms that reflected the times, the desires of the new production teams and the style of the new actor playing the Doctor. No other programme is as durable as Doctor Who, and it'll go on and on because it can change like this. Enjoy it!
I don't really like the new logo, but at the same time, I want to be open about it. Maybe it will look good with the intro. Who knows! I'm just gonna be optimistic about it ^_^
I agree with you about the main part of the logo, I think that's fine. It's a nice throwback to old Who, but it seems a bit sort of clinical. The DW part, though... I feel that if they wanted to remind us of the TARDIS, they could have just used an actual TARDIS silhouette.
I think I'm in the minority but: I love the new logo. Its a great hark back to old Who, and while I adore the orange one, it feels like that was always the one that was out of place, and this is getting back to what a Who logo should be.
I explain it a whole lot better in my vid on my channel (just vid responsed it here).
At the risk of being massivly unpopular I like the new logo I think looks retro with just a hint of a futuristic feel. In any case we have to wait and see.
I agree that this new logo is a bit to retro. also, I personally don't like the modern theme music all that much to begin with. the weird and spacey melody part, once the most prominent and memorable part of the music, has been push way to far down in the mix in favor of the far less interesting and memorable percussive parts.
Like you, I wanna wait til it comes together with the intro and show to see how it fits. I kinda like the look...if it was a new show, but it's not. Though reading through the comments, it's true that it's changed pretty much with each new doctor.
I think it's partly that as fans we don't like big change...or sometimes even small changes, but over time they may grow on us.
I like the logo, I don't know why. I didn't even realize it was the TARDIS. Go me. That makes it a little worse, The light ruins it for me. Great, thanks for pointing it out, now I don't really like it.
The lighting effect on both the logos is horrible; I hope that when it's animated it's just a case of the light glinting past it really quickly. The sharp outline on the letters of "DOCTOR WHO" is lost with that light, and the artificial lens flare on the DW TARDIS lamp is awful. Yeah, not a fan of those bits. Otherwise, I'll take the DOCTOR WHO lettering in that font and colour, but they can keep their DW TARDIS!
I have to be honest, the one thing that's never grown on me with the new series is the logo. I just always felt it lacked that "proper" Doctor Who "feel." It was just too "busy," and the design itself never wowed me.
This new logo is much closer in tone to the old ones (the 1996 logo especially, which I've always loved even if the movie was...erm...flawed). Don't care for the TARDIS-esque abbreviated version, but the main logo looks great to me. Much more Classic Who-like.
One thing to bear in mind is that with Classic Who, the logo and entire title sequence typically changed with each new Doctor. So the fact that we've had the same logo and titles sequence for 5 years and TWO Doctors, it's high time for a change. We're getting a new Doctor and a new Producer. Something that again, has traditionally meant new title sequence/logo. Don't fear change! Change is, and always has been, a HUGE part of Doctor Who, and one of the big reasons why it's lasted 40+ years.
but as a fan of both the old and the new series, i acutally like the color scheme cause it's more like the original. and i hated the old logo, the orange and yellow and black combustion without a purpose.
im so excited for the new series! it's going to be so amazing an epic!!! (even if it isn't with david tennant ,,, so sad)
I'm really not sure how I feel about it. I really loved the old logo. This one... I don't like the single colour aspect of it, and it feels too cold. While the other one was more warm, and space like. With the logo looking like a sun, and the rest black. I do have to admit, I enjoy the tardis out of the DW.
But, there isn't anything anyone of us can do about it, and it'll grow on all of us.
I don't think it's shockingly terrible or particularly awe-inspiring, which are the main two degrees in the judging of something so inconsequential. I think it's fine. It's hard for me to judge it intensely. I care more about the show itself than the logo.
Not only a new Doctor, but a new producer. The TARDIS will look different inside as well. I'm looking forward to all the changes that Steven Moffat brings. He is the man who wrote in my opinion all the best episodes of new Who - The Empty Child / The Doctor Dances in series 1, The Girl in the Fireplace in series 2, Blink in series 3, the library ones in series 4. Moody, mysterious and with attention to metaphysical things that kids are scared of, rather than rubbery monsters. I can't wait!
I really don't like it either. I think it really is too much like old Doctor Who and this is supposed to be about the Doctor having a new regeneration and him becoming someone entirely, just, new. I hope that this isn't a permanent change.
To me, the old colors are very... life-like? The thrill, the adventure, the wonder of life across the universe. The blue just seems so cold and machine-y. Like it's focusing on technology rather than the wonders of life.
Haha or maybe I'm just reading into this too much. This is what going back to school does to a person. =]
Wow. We had just about the same reaction, so I won't say much.
Overall, I don't like the logo, but I do like that it is clever (in the TARDIS sense). I agree with you on the colour scheme and the fact that it looks older. I wondered too about how it would bring more people in and also about the new intro.
I'm still really excited to see how everything will play out, though. We only have to wait a little bit longer!
I believe that the next series (with Matt Smith) is more of a return to the classic Who. I respect the logo change to reflect the overall change, but I'm not sold on the DW Tardis logo.
I love the logo!! Love matt smith!! Alex Kingston!! Karen gillan!! Arthur darville!! love em all!!! New theme tune!! All great!!

Just warning ya.
orton0384 2 years ago

Oh well.
BTW, if I may so, you're so very gorgeous! =)

I like the logo. It's very late 70's/early 80's.

Anyway, I won't hold complete judgement on the logo just yet...I'll wait to see how the title sequence turns out when it appears on the show itself. =]
kittykat8905 2 years ago 2
his physical regeneration produced a young body, but his mind and personality regenerated into something between a cross of Hartnell, Troughton, Tom Baker and Davison. I've also noticed that they are filming alot more on location this year....(besides Cardiff's doorstep) so I think were in for a real treat in 2010 :)
sixstanger00 2 years ago
I like the new logo, because like so many other elements of the show, Moffat is returning it to its roots. RTDs logo is the ONLY logo to ever feature "Doctor Who" displayed horizontally instead of vertically. As for the color scheme, I like it, because the Who logo has always been made up of blues. The new logo to me looks like a modern version of Hartnell's logo, which I think the reason for Smiths costume is a conflict of character -
sixstanger00 2 years ago
With a completely new creative team will come drastic change. If you're not already aware this new series of Doctor Who being film is being filed as Series One on set. That in itself screams that SM wants a fresh beginning.
The logo is pretty cool and the wording is very retro DW and it fits the slightly darker mood that SM is bringing in to his tenure.
Again lets not knock it until we see the whole pakage
Azbatsman 2 years ago
ahh I like it an awful lot. I really do.
although, I'm not overly sure about the DW business. are they using that logo for products or..? I don't know.
but yes, I think the colouring is fantastic especially, makes me think of Neptune.
I'm just glad it isn't at all like 'logo 7', because that was a particular nuisance on the eyes
unicorncake 2 years ago
What I don't like is how the word 'WHO' is twice the size of Doctor. I know it's like the old logos but it just makes it look crowded whereas the Tennant logo is sleek and perfect.
One thing I don't agree with however is the Season 4 theme tune. I loved it. :D
There is one thing I hope never happens and that is Matt Smiths face appearing during the opening titles like the classics did. Please BBC do NOT do that. :P
IfritXVII 2 years ago
I love these vids!
The logo's growing on me already. The only thing I still really don't like is that weird R. It looks out of place next to the other letters.
There will be a new theme and that's cool with me, 1 because I like hearing different arrangements, and 2 for the same reason as Kayley - the Series 4 one isn't very good...
NicStuff 2 years ago
I don't get it - they didn't change everything when Eccleston regenerated...they had virtually the same introduction, music, colour scheme etc. This is going to put a lot of people off. It sounds horrible and purist (lol) but it would be a tiny bit more bearable if it were Mr. Tennant staying in his gloriously shexy role.
hollium 2 years ago
Thats because russel t davies was still the producer there is a new guy coming in now so he is changing everything.
helloitsmasterhulk 2 years ago
Exactly. See also: the last year of Tom Baker (the first year of the then-new producer John Nathan Turner), followed by the entire run of both Peter Davison and Colin Baker. They shared more-or-less the same logo and opening titles because the producer was the same throughout the 80s. They only changed them for Sylvester McCoy because Doctor Who had become unpopular and they wanted to give the impression of a "new start", even though the producer remained the same.
feckingbillgates 2 years ago
ERk.. Its gross... I like the OLD one!
Axelsrose 2 years ago 2
You'll get used to it! It all depends on what they do with it in the new opening titles. Doctor Who was never one single thing in the 60s, 70s and 80s, and while people were worried whenever things changed, it stayed alive because it never became stale.

heyarnoldsknee 2 years ago 2
I like it, I think its kind of retro, it does look a lot like the original logo. I think Steven Moffat will have the early years of the classic series in mind, if you look at the TARDIS, the new interior, even the Doctor's costume, there are echoes of William Hartnell, Patrick Troughton and Jon Pertwee.
Trayusstudent1 2 years ago 3
I hope the new theme is good. I want to be really excited that there will be a Doctor Who for me. I didn't see the show until it was over. Now it's a new show, and instead of being excited and getting another Planet of the Dead, it will be a whole new experience. Sort of.
But the logo? I doubt people liked the old one at first. It was very plain. This isn't too interesting. But what would be?

The only thing I strongly dislike are the light sources / lens flares on the logos. I think they're tacky. Otherwise, I think it'll grow on people, and it'll look different in the new title sequence anyway.
feckingbillgates 2 years ago
This is two logos in one, I think. I doubt the DW TARDIS will be used for the title sequence - I hope not anyway. It'll hopefully be kept for merchandise and teaser trailers etc. I like the part on the left though; it's cleaner than the current orange logo, and evokes something of old Who in a good way. I want the new Moffat series to be mysterious and less of an "action" show, and this logo seems to be preparing for that. Looking forward to hearing the new arrangement of the theme!
feckingbillgates 2 years ago
Whenever I see a change I don't like (most of them), I just tell myself that all the elements of Who that we love will forever belong to Tennant and Eccleston. The things like the logo and intro and non-lego TARDIS will always harken back to OUR new series Doctor, whichever yours may be :)
LindseySubtlyInked 2 years ago
:-) People first thought Tom Baker was a bit manic and then realised they loved him! Everybody is scared of losing what they love, but what's so great about the series is that it has changed and mutated over the years, taken on new forms that reflected the times, the desires of the new production teams and the style of the new actor playing the Doctor. No other programme is as durable as Doctor Who, and it'll go on and on because it can change like this. Enjoy it!

I like the new logo. I like that it's both retro and new at the same time. I also appreciate it as a graphic designer on that level so... yeah.
I don't think it necessarily means a new title card (the shows intro) but we will have to wait for the show to air in order to find out.
Be prepared for a new tune. That's a tradition that EACH new doctor gets his own variation on the theme.

I agree with you about the main part of the logo, I think that's fine. It's a nice throwback to old Who, but it seems a bit sort of clinical. The DW part, though... I feel that if they wanted to remind us of the TARDIS, they could have just used an actual TARDIS silhouette.
arrowsforpens 2 years ago
I think I'm in the minority but: I love the new logo. Its a great hark back to old Who, and while I adore the orange one, it feels like that was always the one that was out of place, and this is getting back to what a Who logo should be.
I explain it a whole lot better in my vid on my channel (just vid responsed it here).

I agree that this new logo is a bit to retro. also, I personally don't like the modern theme music all that much to begin with. the weird and spacey melody part, once the most prominent and memorable part of the music, has been push way to far down in the mix in favor of the far less interesting and memorable percussive parts.

DukeofYar 2 years ago
Haha aw, I am sorry. I don't like the light reflecting on the words.
TARDIStacular 2 years ago
The lighting effect on both the logos is horrible; I hope that when it's animated it's just a case of the light glinting past it really quickly. The sharp outline on the letters of "DOCTOR WHO" is lost with that light, and the artificial lens flare on the DW TARDIS lamp is awful. Yeah, not a fan of those bits. Otherwise, I'll take the DOCTOR WHO lettering in that font and colour, but they can keep their DW TARDIS!
feckingbillgates 2 years ago
I have to be honest, the one thing that's never grown on me with the new series is the logo. I just always felt it lacked that "proper" Doctor Who "feel." It was just too "busy," and the design itself never wowed me.
This new logo is much closer in tone to the old ones (the 1996 logo especially, which I've always loved even if the movie was...erm...flawed). Don't care for the TARDIS-esque abbreviated version, but the main logo looks great to me. Much more Classic Who-like.
Zaranyzerak 2 years ago
One thing to bear in mind is that with Classic Who, the logo and entire title sequence typically changed with each new Doctor. So the fact that we've had the same logo and titles sequence for 5 years and TWO Doctors, it's high time for a change. We're getting a new Doctor and a new Producer. Something that again, has traditionally meant new title sequence/logo. Don't fear change! Change is, and always has been, a HUGE part of Doctor Who, and one of the big reasons why it's lasted 40+ years.
Zaranyzerak 2 years ago

abell7428 2 years ago
I'm really not sure how I feel about it. I really loved the old logo. This one... I don't like the single colour aspect of it, and it feels too cold. While the other one was more warm, and space like. With the logo looking like a sun, and the rest black. I do have to admit, I enjoy the tardis out of the DW.
But, there isn't anything anyone of us can do about it, and it'll grow on all of us.
irrishpirrate 2 years ago
